  1. I doubt either "comes back." But, for the Beavis folks who believe that they will, they assume that when they come back they will still have the same status as when both were members of the 2023-24 Pac12. That is an error in logic, in my opinion. If they come back they will have accepted the notion that they no longer care about being a Power 4 level program. They will not bring prestige to the new Pac because they will no longer be evaluated to be at that former level. It will be akin to saying, "we are now at the Fresno State and San Diego State level." Rather than, Fresno and SDSU claiming they have increased prestige from their association with Cal/Stanford.
  2. Looks like they have their goals set a bit higher than the Pac-12... https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/memphis-proposing-lucrative-offer-to-join-big-12-but-it-lacks-support-from-conference-leadership-sources-175519540.html
  3. clevelandWhich team did media pick to win the conference in the 15...For the first time ever, Penn State is viewed as the favorite to win the Big Ten conference.
  4. The Bulldogs employ 18 staff members in recruiting and personnel, led by a whopping 9-member operations/administration department....currently No. 2 in average recruit rating for 2026. FootballScoopExclusive: Georgia football operations, recruiting staff...There are many ways to build a winning football program, but every winning football program has one thing in common: organization. The next championship-caliber football team that
  5. One of the "fun things" about road game attendance is near-stadium atmosphere. Personally, a visit to The Grove at Ole Miss would attract me. There are other on-campus stadiums, near campus business districts, that are attractive. One aspect of Iowa's on-campus stadium is that it is close to residential neighborhoods. Season ticket holders often rent parking spaces on the front lawns of homes nearby. If you are invited to a tailgate, your host may tell you, "we're at 223 Melrose Dr." The home owner rents the space, and may provide a porta-potty as part of the annual rent for the Saturday renters, water, electricity hookup. The stadium is "walking distance" from downtown for those reasonably fit. But, if you are going and have a car I would suggest you do some research on parking. A lot of these B1G stadiums are so old they are surrounded by other development rather than being at the edge of town with parking lots. The last two November 8's in Iowa City were 55 degrees. But, you can't count on that.
  6. Woody Hayes, Ohio State, 1951-78 (205 wins) Kirk Ferentz, Iowa, 1999-present (204) Amos Alonzo Stagg, Chicago, 1896-1932 (199) Bo Schembechler, Michigan, 1969-89 (194) Joe Paterno, Penn State, 1993-2011 (162) Hayden Fry, Iowa, 1979-98 (143) That's total wins as a Big Ten coach, not total Big Ten conference wins. Nor is it career wins at all coaching stops. Average wins per season would be a different list.
  7. Nostalgia can be an addictive drug. What I periodically think about is where Oregon would stand in recruiting today if Taggart hadn't shown the Ducks could recruit nationwide, and Cristobal showed it wasn't just a Taggart thing.
  8. Mason Neville is headed to the National League Central. The Oregon Ducks center fielder was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth round with the No. 114 overall pick The third unanimous All-America selection in UO history, Neville tied for the national lead in home runs (26) and hit .290, had a program record .724 slugging percentage and tied for the school record with 67 runs scored. Neville is the highest selected UO player since Sabin Ceballos went No. 94 overall in 2023. A slotted value of $667,700. Oregon’s Jason Reitz is headed to the Minnesota Twins organization. The Ducks’ 6-foot-10 right-hander was selected by the Twins in the fourth round with the No. 119 overall pick. The pick has a slotted value of $635,700, according to MLB.com.
  9. "Two Big 12 teams play 11 power opponents, nine in their league and two as nonconference games: Baylor and TCU. Zero Big Ten teams scheduled nine plus two." Oregon: 9 plus Oklahoma St and Oregon St Washington: 9 plus Colorado St and WSU now and future Pac12 ouch

  11. Too many memorable plays in unfavorable weather at Autzen to ever consider a dome....
  12. Perhaps....the Great Gobbler....but not The Great One
  13. Many attempted to wear the mantle......Gretzky, etc. ....but there was truly only one Great One
  14. With Gonzaga, is it now the asiNINE. or the PacSt8 and bulldog tail
  15. 2027: The last Iowa visit to Autzen was in 1994, and the game drew about 29,000. Later that season attendance heated up as the Ducks put themselves into position for the Rose Bowl. But, early home games that season: 25,358 - Utah 29,287 - Iowa 30,678 - Cal In 1989, the Ducks visited Iowa: 67,700. In 2025 the Ducks head to Iowa City again where they averaged 69,250 last season.
  16. I thought this was a key passage: "new rules allow NIL deals to be judged partly by geographic market value. That means deals made in major cities like Los Angeles can legally carry more weight—more money—than similar offers from less commercially vibrant locales. If a USC athlete gets a major NIL deal from a company based in L.A., it’s much easier to justify that deal as fair market value under the new rules than, say, the same deal in Ames, Iowa." Now, the total value of all deals across all geographies may have to be the same, but if the folks reviewing individual NIL deals can consider market factors, then it seems it would be different potential dollars for a RB in Seattle vs one in Pullman.

  18. Bill Dellinger, Olympic Medalist and Pre’s Mentor, Dies at Age 91 WWW.RUNNERSWORLD.COM The former University of Oregon head coach coached several Olympians.
  19. Charles is correct. The whole thing with retaining "Pac12" is money related. For example, the Rose Bowl contract is with the Pac12. As a result, OSU/WSU will receive $50M for the 2025 game, and another $50M for the 2026 game. Then, the existing Rose Bowl contract expires. That would have been money split 12 ways. I doubt there is any plan to split that 2026 game money with the new members of the Pac. There is no way OSU/WSU were going to walk away from that by merging with the Mt. West or renaming the conference. There is also some residual value in retaining the logo, web page, office signs, etc. etc. that don't have to be replaced.
  20. 11 - SEC (with Texas, Oklahoma) 7 - Big10 (with USC, UCLA, Oregon) 6 - ACC (with Stanford, Cal) 1 - Big12 0 - Notre Dame 0 - PacWhatever The Big12 entry is ranked No. 25. And, it's BYU. This is also a way of looking at wins in the multiple NCAA sports. Though, football is this one is based on top 4 in final Coaches poll.

  22. Today a Beaver. Last week a verbal commit from a Washington. And, the Ducks have offered a 2027 player named Troy.
  23. I believe the letter of intent expires after 18 months while the athlete is on an LDS mission? Not sure it is still true, but some athletes would sign a letter of commitment rather than letter of intent to provide both the athlete and the school more flexibility. That may benefit the athlete if there is a potential for coaching changes while on a mission. Remember, this guy is still out there... Gatlin Bair commits to Oregon Ducks; 5-star receiver says Dan Lanning 'is not going anywhere' - Sports Illustrated High School News, Analysis and More WWW.SI.COM During the recruiting process, Burley (Idaho) five-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair has experienced the fast-moving world of college football.
