  1. Last year I went on one of their message sites, probably February. I saw a thread started back in October 2022. It was a poll asking what it would take for Oregon State to allow USC back into the conference. Some responses were two for ones, never ever, and my favorite "Kiss every butt up and down the coast, then giving up five years of revenue. They must be on their knees!!!". So USC was going to give up their new 75 million a year, all while breaking the new grant of rights deal with their new league. All so they can lose home games as a penance, and giving whatever revenue they have left after not getting their 75 million, to the true heros. These people are truly business graduates from the Kim Jong Un academy of deities.
  2. They have enough stolen funds to last a few years, but they'll probably waste it in stupid branding for a dead conference. That or online bonds for a Russian knockoff McDonald's
  3. April 2nd 2023. What was going on? Well I think most of us were wondering how Lanning would do in year 2. Probably questioning when a media deal would be announced. Did anybody see the league essentially folding in four months? Now let's look ahead to April 2nd 2025. Hopefully you and your are in good health, and happy. But how will we look at Lanning post season 3? How will our sports programs look after moving to the Big Ten. My prediction is pretty good. Maybe even our first conference(Big Ten) and National Titles.
  4. * Because they're victims. The other meanies got tired of playing in the alley with the broken glass strewn everywhere. But lil Beavie & Cougie didn't get invited because they never pitched in for snacks, or equipment. But why should they? They're just poor victims that have been held down under the thumb of their bigger brothers. Ones who had an obligation to protect them..... * HEAVY SARCASM
  5. There are a contingent of people who root for every in state school, as long as they're not playing their designated favorite. There are graduates of one school, but a sports fan of another. There's no guidebook for being a "real" fan. But I would say for myself, that it's one program. Oregon State used to recruit for the same guys as Oregon. Now the two aren't in the same tier, but the bragging rights still exist. Duke fans relish North Carolina losses on the hard court. Miami fans would never pull for FSU. Same goes for Texas and Texas A&M. I'm inline with these people. I grew up around Ohio State fans, none of them care to see Cincy win at all. Michigan fans look down at MSU. Auburn fans vs Alabama fans is on another level. So enjoy sports how you want. Don't worry about having your Duck card pulled. Just don't expect others to follow the path, and expect some ribbing.
  6. Kind of shocked Chun didn't get the gig in his home State. Well he's going to the Big Ten anyway. If the reporter had the chance to move up, he'd take it. But like Washington State, he's not wanted by better companies. Winners learn from losses, come back stronger to punch the other dude into the ground. Losers cry, they whine and make excuses. Waiting for somebody to handicap the competition before squaring back up. Washington State and Oregon State are betas.
  7. Can Oregon just get out of this waste of space already? It's like buying into a nice area, but you have to stay in your old crap neighborhood for a designated amount of time. Meanwhile you have to forfeit your earnings to the two idiots in the two worst houses because they have nowhere else to go. Let's just go to the crappy motel (independence) until our new house (Big Ten) is ready to move into. Get the leeches off already. What a freaking joke of a league. The ACC is suing each other, and their league hides their conference bylaws like it's the book of secrets, but they are still better run than this crap show. How anybody can still feel sorry for Beavis and Coughead is beyond me at this point. They suck!!! Literally, they are sucking the blood of programs like Oregon. Cancel that series with Oregon State. Don't give them the biggest gate every other year.. Cut them off, make them improve without financial help from Oregon.
  8. Purdue is a beatable one seed, see last year. Of course Virginia won a title the year following their historic loss. But is there a team that you say is unbeatable? It just seems like you don't have Goliath's anymore. I mean just in the last 19 years we've seen more mid majors make the Final Four than the fifty years before. George Mason Butler(twice) Wichita State Loyola Gonzaga(twice) Florida Atlantic San Diego State You can say Gonzaga isn't a mid major, but they play in a mid major conference. You've had Texas Tech play for the Title, had Baylor and Virginia win titles for the first time in their history. Meanwhile UCLA hasn't won one since the 90's. It's just different. Get hot and you can win it all. Oregon is very hot.
  9. What should they have done? How about actually trying to pull their weight years ago, and make the Pac -12 better in the revenue generating sports. Not waiting till 2018 to invest into stadium renovations. How about not allowing yourself to be an anchor, and counting on your in state brothers pull you along. Then acting like they betrayed you after years of pulling your sorry carcass. How about giving a wink after you won money not owed to you, and finally owning up to your failures. If the Big Ten had offered you membership at a ten percent revenue sharing percentage, you'd jump. Facts are you didn't put in the work, but you want the rewards of your harder working brother. That's a loser mentality, and it's a major issue in society today. " I didn't fail, the system kept me down. Give me a handout, I will sit on my butt waiting for it.". To anybody that's made something of themselves, seen their children do the same, and hopefully live to see their grandkids do the same. You know what that means. Do you wanna make something of yourself, or excuses for why you never will? As long as your lungs draw air, it's not too late. But some people wake up looking for slights and excuses. Oregon chose to be better, that's why they're an elite AD with great backing. Oregon State chose to just be content in a changing market. They never thought a 108 year old house would crumble.
  10. Maybe this is a stupid question, but heck it's slow season, so I'll ask it anyhow. We are an 11 seed facing South Carolina. Colorado is a potential tenth seed facing Boise State in the First Four. Is there one ten seed, or two? I know a win in the First Four is an official tournament statistic, so I guess it's a way for a small school like Bryant to say they have an official tournament victory. So an eleven seed is better than a ten seed? But is a sixteen seed better than an eleven if the sixteen doesn't have to play an extra game against another sixteen? With expansion talks upcoming, I hope football seeding isn't as confusing. Maybe it's a good thing Mike Leach didn't get his 64 team field. Loved the pirate, but no thanks to his tournament idea. Riddle me this Quackman. When is a sixteen better than an eleven, and when can there be multiples of the same numerical value?
  11. Does that mean that whatever miniscule revenue is generated will go to the Pac Who? Kind of embarrassing. Imagine being dumped, but still honoring a commitment to film your ex giving a speech for their online associates. Give me a P, give me an A, give me a T, give me an H, give me an E..... Blah blah blah.
  12. 11 seed. To me that means we were likely on the outs if we didn't win the tourney. The chairman said there were five bids stolen this weekend. Indiana State looks to be the one team that most are griping about today. I don't get upset over teams 69, 70, or 71. Those teams aren't going to win a title. But I do feel bad for fans of smaller programs, one upset can make your day as a fan. I mean look at how those kids at Duquesne reacted. Their first bid in 43 years, that's a special moment.
  13. While I don't have any idea how they'll do in the tournament. It's all a plus. Two weeks ago, I saw First Four as a real possibility .
  14. It is rather fitting. "Hey Beavis, I can see George's butt" "Hahaha, I can see his media deal. It's miniscule, Butthead".
  15. To anybody who feels sorry for the two. Imagine having a house with twelve kids. Ten of them work hard, contribute to the family and get accepted into college. Those ten got what they deserved. Now take two of those and they slacked off, rarely cleaned their rooms. Then one day, dad and mom announce they are selling the house, moving to the beach house. The parents have it written that all the kids will get something from the sale. But the two deadbeats with no options, nowhere to go, want to take everything from the sale. After all, they got abandoned. It's not fair, how can they afford to keep living the lifestyle they've grown accustomed to without the luxury of living rent free? Meanwhile across the street, the same thing happened ten years ago to the EastMans. Little Cindy and Ucef just got dropped into the much less lavish neighborhood. But they worked hard, made themselves more desirable, and they got rewarded. Meanwhile Wally and Beav want to take what they don't deserve. They won't let the house be sold, they're clawing to stay in there. It's not fair!!! The moving trucks are coming, it's near time for the police to throw the vagrants out of the P4 neighborhood. "YOU LOSE SIR!! YOU GET NOTHING!! GOOD Day!!"
  16. For Oregon, this is great. Being part of the Roman Empire is better than opposing it. I don't like the minimum guarantee for the sport though. Minimum guarantee referring to the Big Ten/SEC getting a higher amount of participants guaranteed. I'm not talking about G5 teams getting the bad end either. Until proven, they are usually a sacrificial lamb. But if the Big Twelve or whomever has a really good year, their programs should get in over the fourth or fifth best teams in the P2.
  17. Please don't expand the stadium. Tickets should remain a premium for the impending horde of Big Ten invaders. I don't want to ever see large swaths of Red, Blue, or putrid Spartan Green in Autzen. Let them come to Eugene, let them tailgate. But make them watch the game on television. I know some of them will get in. We'll see those two famous Buckeye fans this Fall. The bald dude with the painted face, and the dude with the weird hat and sunglasses that always has a cape and grills outside the stadium before games. But no more!!! We should not hear that stupid chant during the game. You know the chant, I heard it as a kid growing up there. I won't say it. BTW the dude grilling out is a super nice guy, and his BBQ is good. But that's only for pregame purposes. For sixty minutes, he is our enemy!!!!
  18. Yeah the whole victim theme never seemed right to me. The Pac-12 lied to it's members, there was never a television deal in place. Every team sought an escape after the truth came out. Oregon and Washington were vetted by the Big Ten a year before. Utah was never a target, even if they thought they were. So they went to their fallback, ASU was lucky enough to have Arizona drag them into the Big Twelve. Colorado just went back home. Then you had the two arrogant academics in Cali, they were rumored to be Big Ten targets, but got a reality check when they had to take the last boat out. Not to the Big Ten with us, but to the ACC with SMU. The PAC WHO CARES couldn't get a bite, so they became self righteous babies, who fought harder in the media and court rooms, than they ever did on a football field. Maybe if they put as much effort into building their brand as they did fighting to steal money, they may have been a valuable commodity. That ship has passed though. Oregon should leave the Beav in the dust. We can play Portland State, Idaho, or Akron.
  19. God Bless You Kim!! God only gives us the challenges he knows we can overcome. The day shines brightest right after a storm. Rest up, get better, and we'll see you back here when you're ready.
  20. The only true positive of the Big Ten/SEC alliance is the end of Notre Dame being allowed to pretend they are still a unicorn. When in reality, they've been nothing special for years. They never provide a compelling game when they get into the playoffs, or BCS before that. Rudy is a great movie, but that's the limit of their aura imo. The ACC had a chance to force their hand in 2020, but didn't. Is it any wonder FSU wants out of that conference? The ACC would've fought for Notre Dame if they went undefeated, in hopes of them joining. They allowed Notre Dame to influence the stupid additions of Stanford and Cal. FSU, Clemson, and UNC didn't want them.
  21. The NCAA has been corrupt for years(much like the government). One must only look at the FBI probing into college basketball in '17. Yet North Carolina and Kansas got no punishment, and Sean Miller got no show clause. Louisville got stripped of their title, Pitino was fired. While I dislike the way the transfer portal is being used in conjunction with NIL, mainly because it allows the gap in haves and have nots to increase. I would prefer the young men putting their bodies at risk getting paid, rather than the old men with too much money to begin with. ESPN is now suing FSU because of trade secrets, yet they colluded with the ACC behind it's members backs, and the contract isn't allowed to be viewed outside of the ACC offices. I think we know how that story is going to end. It's clear as day that FSU is coming to the Big Ten, not the SEC. ESPN has a vested interest in keeping big brands in the ACC, but they also just inked that deal with the SEC. So I believe they know FSU is leaving for a conference with no deal with them. If/When that happens, you have the path cleared for the Big Ten to get into the Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina markets. That means the Big Ten is in every region in the country. I doubt the SEC cares about that, but ESPN does. Because essentially that move would decrease the value of their secondary conference(ACC), and strengthen what Fox can offer up. In closing, I'm glad the NCAA is losing it's authority. I feel bad for the programs that have invested into their program, yet have no way of ever cracking into the Big Two Club, but that's life. Maybe the remnants of the ACC can go to the Big Twelve. Programs like Louisville, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Duke, NC State etc.. But I feel like the ACC may just add Boise, Beavis, and Wazzu.
  22. It seemed like Ohio State tried to be more physical, but they still ranked 83rd in rushing yards. UCLA was 16th, and they passed for under 3,000 yards. The issue with Ohio State is their line however. But lineman prefer run heavy sets, it's easier. Especially if your QB is a statue that doesn't process zone coverages very well.
  23. The coaches have been free agent mavericks for years. Agents have been putting their client's names out for other jobs since the start of Big time athletics began. This is while their client is under contract, I repeat under contract. Not enforced, unpaid servitude. Guys making millions who make their money because of how well they recruit & coach up teenagers. Teenagers who pledge allegiance to these men that come into their homes, and promise to lead them. Often time to mold them into players and men that can succeed into adulthood. These young men put their bodies on the line, in exchange they get a college education(Not cheap by any means). But the sport makes billions of their performance. Grown men benefit, the school benefits, and other sports benefit. Let's be frank here, non revenue sports players benefit. Those kids get scholarships to attend school, but they don't bring in anything of monetary value. They are funded off the sweat & physical abuse the football players endure. So am I upset that these guys are getting paid? No. Am I upset they have the chance to transfer if the coach who brought them there leaves? Again no. But I do think something needs to be fixed, and the grown ups need to take some responsibility. They need to understand they've been abandoning their posts, and young men for years. For a better opportunity, all while they were under contract. They didn't pay the buyout either, the deep pocketed boosters of their new employers did that.. Willie Taggart was a mercenary one year coach. How many young men did he tell to trust him? Come to Eugene, be a Duck. Sometimes from across the country. Just to leave at the first chance because he wanted to go home to FSU. Yes a day of reckoning is coming, but it's been on the horizon far longer than anybody's been aware of. The grown men that have been making millions are just now starting to feel the sting.
  24. I think it's much easier to win a title in basketball than football for smaller programs. But I also think it may be even harder to retain your Star players if your NIL support isn't in place. The one and done rules have really crippled the game imo. Just let high school kids go pro if they're 18. But if they choose to attend college, enforce the three year rule. Basketball has the G League for it's developmental players. It's also not as physically taxing as football. I hope that the Big Ten, SEC alliance will help fix things like the transfer portal rules, but also hold coaches accountable for contracts they agree to. Accountability is a two way street. Chip Kelly, Dabo Sweeney, or any of the old guard coaches can't complain about players leaving on a whim for better opportunities, when they do the same. Just look at this past coaching cycle in CFB.
  25. After Ohio State fired their guy yesterday. Holtmann signed top classes, but hasn't won a Big Ten road game since January 2022. The athletic director Gene Smith was crying at the podium after announcing the firing. The guy had 9 conference wins the last two years combined. He has a fifteen million dollar buyout because Smith gave him an extension in '22. I think I would hold off on the tears Gene. This raises a good question though. Is there the same expectation for OBD on the hard court as the gridiron?
