  1. Oregon Ducks: Results, Picks, Power Rankings, Odds & Stats on TeamRankings.com WWW.TEAMRANKINGS.COM Oregon Ducks team page with results, picks, power rankings, odds and stats. According to, Oregon is projected as a tenth seed. With a 38% chance of making the tourney. If they can get in, I really don't fear any of the seven or two seeds. Purdue has looked like the best team, but until a Big Ten team makes an actual run. I don't fear any of them.
  2. Big Ten is gonna be the NFC, games broadcast on Fox. SEC is AFC, used to have games on CBS, now ESPN. Only question is gonna be the final number for each conference. Playoff qualifying and seeding will be based off records. That's about the best thing I can say about this. No more silly computers, or committees deciding who gets in. Will the two power leagues freeze out Notre Dame? Forcing their hand.
  3. I feel like I need a refreshment in how this new industry is going to work. I just like watching eleven guys try to march down the field, as eleven other guys try to stop them.
  4. Good point. Pandora's box has been opened. Seems like a separation is most likely the outcome. What I mean by regulation is what inevitably will come from play for pay. You will get female basketball players demand the same cut as male players. You'll get non revenue generating sports players begin to grumble, and it will be nonsensical. The world of economics has no place in some people's minds. There is going to be a needed statement about a player's economic worth. Bo Nix is going to get more than the starting pitcher on the softball squad. Both are student athletes, but Bo Nix is going to get a deal from Nike. The pitcher may get a much smaller deal from a smaller company. It has nothing to do with the University. It has nothing to do with your worth as a student athlete. A business like McDonalds can have Gabriel on a commercial, they don't have to offer the star water polo defender. It's real before feel. Same reason Oregon is more valuable than Oregon State. It's not personal, just business.
  5. There will be a cap on NIL. A period for portals. I hope all things become enforceable. No more coaches signing contracts and then leaving without themselves having to pay off the buyout. No more schools like Florida State seeking an out of a contract they signed freely, no private equity. Oregon didn't sign anything to keep them tethered to the Pac-12. To me that's why the Bevus lawsuit is nonsense. Oregon invested in their program, made smart hires. Used resources legally to enhance the brand to become an attractive entity in sports that mattered, football being king. Oregon State was content being mediocre to terrible. They didn't look ahead at the possibility of the Pac-12 going belly up. The warning signs were there, dating back to 2012. But they continued to just believe the bubble would never burst. Zero accountability. The adults in the room failed the future kids that would pay for that incompetence. The SEC and Big Ten leadership has been miles ahead. Lucky for programs like Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, and the sort. Yes geography helped. But that didn't stop Utah, Oregon, or Boise State from elevating themselves the last two decades. Accountability, it's why even programs in geographically ideal locations got left out, but got brought back to at least the P4 table. Programs like Houston, UCF, or Cincy. Cincy won three Big East football titles, but got dropped when the league folded. Nobody in the media cried for them. They invested, competed with a two million dollar media payout. Made a playoff appearance. So I'm sick of this crying going on right now, about the fate of Oregon State. Oregon didn't betray them, they just made the decision that needed to be made. Just like Oklahoma did, just like how Florida isn't in any mood to help FSU get into the SEC. Enjoy the Mountain West ,Beav. Much love-Puddles, in a pond of cash-
  6. Oregon and Ohio State are the two best teams in conference. At least with what we know. Oregon has a much tougher road, but if Oregon wins the first matchup. I see Ohio State not dropping another game. Washington and Michigan are going through rebuilds. That leaves USC and Penn State. I'm sorry, but Riley teams lack toughness, and Franklin teams lack killer instinct. Oregon and Ohio State should be top five. That means both are probably in with possibly two losses. I see Oregon winning in Eugene, Ohio State getting some revenge in Indy. Then it's all about seeding. Quite easy to see both teams vying for top six seeds. If all falls right, you could get that third matchup. How appropriate for Oregon to win the rubber match. Avenging the loss in the first ever four team playoff championship, by beating the team that beat them ten years earlier. Claiming the first ever twelve team playoff championship, along with Oregon's first ever title. Not a bad way to kick off a new era in a new conference. Beating one of the kingpins of Oregon's new home. "I think we're gonna like it here!!"-Lanning after the game-.
  7. Very true Jon. I know Ohio State cherry picked guys like Downs, to add to an already top five class. So you are correct, but I'll still say Lanning beat Day in true original high school recruiting . Not his last victory over Mr. Day this upcoming calendar year either. Perhaps more than just once ......
  8. 2024 Washington Huskies Football Commits WWW.ON3.COM 2024 Washington Huskies Football team commit list. Well they've dropped twenty spots in this recruiting breakdown. From 27th to 47th, 14th in the Big Ten, ouch!!! Oregon has the current top class in the Big Ten. Coming up to 3rd overall, up 4 spots. Michigan is 15th nationally, 3rd in conference. Ohio State is 4th nationally, 2nd in the Big Ten. Yes they've lost their conference championship recruiting crown to OBD. Penn State is 14th nationally, 4th in conference. USC is 18th nationally, and they round out the top 5 in conference. I'm somewhat shocked USC isn't at least top ten nationally, but my guess is it's due to them relying more on the portal. Which speaks to their ability to judge high school talent.
  9. They want their Super Bowl back.... Other things yet to happen.... Kobe Bryant and his daughter passing away, I believe that happened after the conference games. Cincinnati Bengals were the worst team in football, the Big discussion was if Burrow should pull an Eli. He didn't, and it's worked out pretty well. The Pac- 12 was still considered at a point of strength. Programs like Oklahoma had shown interest in joining, but Larry Scott rebuffed. Of course the Summer of 2021 saw the SEC strike. The Summer of 2022 saw the Big Ten strike back, and the Summer of 2023 saw the Big Twelve start the final collapse of the Pac- -12 house of cards. One last thing hadn't really struck yet, I'm having trouble remembering though. Something about face coverings, things closing, and sports leagues suspending play. Then you had the SEC, Big Twelve, and ACC play entire years. The Big Ten said they wouldn't play, of course the Pac- -12 followed suit. Then both backtracked, it almost cost the Big Ten a playoff appearance. Anything else?
  10. The irony of Penn State, or Michigan fans talking about "honor", or doing it the right way is beyond hilarious. Penn State won't use NIL because of Joe Paterno not wanting to drain the sanctity of college football? Umm does anybody want to speak up about the reason he got fired? So Oregon is slimy because they are asking fans to donate to NIL? First of all, it's businesses that are paying players. The school , NCAA, and adults in the room have been making money for years off the sport of football. So a 19 year old kid getting a deal from a car dealership , or restaurant doesn't bother me. But yeah, Nebraska wasn't doing anything shady back in the day. With their preferred walk on program. Michigan certainly didn't do anything shady, because Harbaugh had a non termination clause in his contract negotiations with Michigan. I mean this stuff is almost too unbelievable for a soap opera. But remember guys, our program has no class. Oregon is demanding we as fans subsidize their NIL requirements. Just wait for the leg breakers.
  11. I think the misconception comes from getting Bo Nix, and now Dillion Gabriel, oh and the freshman from UCLA. Completely forgetting we recruited and groomed Heisman winner Marcus Mariota, and top five NFL QB Justin Herbert. The site I posted a link to has us just below Ohio State in average recruit rating. A full ten points ahead of Penn State. Yes Lanning has used the portal, but not like Ole Miss, or Washington. So it's just misinformed. They're upset because we have the guys behind the scenes that are playing the game better than them. I would ask them if they would take Lanning over Franklin. I bet seven out of ten would say yes. I could put a poll on this site, and I don't think one out of twenty would say yes. Maybe I'm a homer though. I wouldn't take Dabo, Ryan Day, Harbaugh, Belichick, Kiffin, Sarkasian, Meyer,Kirby, or Riley either. Straight honesty. Maybe I'll feel foolish in five years, but it's how I really feel. Our guy is young, he's a great recruiter. Seems to be a guy wanting to make Oregon his home. I don't think he would just jump if the Georgia job came open. That's the only one I'd even think he might entertain. Not Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, LSU, or Florida, and contrary to mutts up north, not Alabama.
  12. National Signing Day: Big Ten classes in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings - On3 WWW.ON3.COM . Everybody today is talking about four programs in the new Big Ten. Those four being the defending National Champion Wolverines, for obvious reasons. You have three huge talking points there. For posterity I don't need to rehash this. All of our great fans hear on O.B.D know what's happened. Championship. Cheating Scandal. Harbaugh. As for the second most talked about team, that being those nutty Buckeyes. A team that has dominated the Big Ten since hiring Jim Tressell back in 2001. Who promptly won a National Title his second year, and completely turned around the fortunes of that big game. Winning all but one in his tenure(2003), and winning 8 conference titles. Before eventually being forced out following the Terrell Pryor tattoo incident in 2010. That program then went on to hire Meyer, who turned them into an SEC level program in 2012. He took a roster mostly packed with Ohio kids, and that's a talent rich State, but there is speed in the south unlike anything in the Midwest .We all know what's happened after that, like I said, even though we're Ducks, we aren't bird brains. The other two programs ,are the ones we know most about. That being Washington, who just had their best year since the early 90's, and OBD. Washington is heading into the Big Ten at less than full strength. They don't recruit at an elite level, sitting around the low 40's, to 50's depending on who you believe. That was with DeBoer, who struck it rich with Penix. But he is gone, as well as 80 percent of their 22 starters , from two weeks ago. Oregon is heading into the Big Ten with bravado, overflowing talent, and the best young coach in the nation. Seriously I don't need to elaborate on this. Is anybody really debating our trajectory? We had NFL bound guys not opt out in our bowl game. The exact opposite of Ohio State, who laid an egg against Missouri. So that's all I need to say on that. But finally getting to my point, the program with the most to lose with Oregon, USC, and maybe Washington in the future(big maybe). Is it Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Minnesota? No, no, no, and really(lol). Those programs are either long past their days of being a true blue blood. A program that is good, but never great. A program that just oozes with being content with their place below the top three before expansion, and lastly the team with the boatman. No, the program I'm speaking on has won double digits every year essentially since they hired a man, who got a 75 million dollar extension. A man who recruits at an elite level, an average class recruit rating of about 74.5 to low 80's. This man came out and said his program needs to go from good to elite after blowing a 17 point lead in Columbus in '17. A matchup of top 5 programs. A man that has won a Big Ten title. But this man has never gotten his program into the four team playoff. This man seemingly can beat everybody outside the top two he plays every year. This program is a consensus "third wheel" in the Big Ten. This program has a rabid fan base, a great history. This is a program that doesn't accept being just good. They view themselves in the same light as Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, or USC . But they haven't shown it outside 2016. Since that year, they've had one win over the two above them in conference. That was before the new Big Ten. That program entered the Big Ten in 1990, and did so to be at or above the Big Two. No bowing to the feet of those two. But they haven't been at that level. They find themselves in a worse spot than Ohio State, they got blown out in their bowl game, yet you don't hear about their "struggles". At least nationally. It seems like they know what's coming too. They see the new kids, and the new kid they should fear most of knocking them from their perch right below blue bloods, that have owned the conference isn't on their historic level. Being behind Michigan, and Ohio State is one thing. But being behind a team that is such an idealogical opposed entity, from uniforms, to stadium size, to being traditionalists ,is OBD. Our recruiting rankings listed on most sites is just below Ohio State. Ranging from average recruits being in the high 80's, to low 90's is well above theirs. Our coach is just as loud, just as energetic, and he comes from the SEC, just like Franklin. But he comes from Georgia, not Vanderbilt. So to me, Penn State is the program, and James Franklin is the coach, whom has the most to fear from expansion. Apparently their fan base feels the same. Sorry to post my rambling thoughts in such a drawn out way. But I tried to paint it as succinctly as I could. I'm just super excited to move onto this new frontier. But many traditional Big Ten fanbases aren't. Penn State has the biggest reality check coming. Outside of USC, they may have been the fan base that really wasn't thrilled when Fox decided to pay for our move.
  13. Maybe a cold, frozen in ice clam? At least they kept Rogers. Small victories.
  14. I think Wisconsin has a great year in them about every five. Fickell is a good coach, gets the most out of his talent. While I don't think they will ever match up with Oregon's talent..They are a tough team, especially at home. Grinch wasn't a great hire, but Lincoln Riley teams aren't built around defense, or toughness . But it's gonna be a bear beating them in Madison. It will take a physical toll, Oregon was given the gauntlet in year one. Lanning will have the boys ready to roll.
  15. Oh goody. I would've preferred Oregon beating Jim out the door. Michigan is going to be down for a few years with him, or without. Sanctions, postseason bans, and likely losing the last three years is going to hurt. Jim lost to Day already, he would've got pounded twice had he not had an out with the pandemic year. I don't care about Day's hurt feelings, or his hot seat. I do care about Lanning beating the bricks off the two big dogs in the Big Ten. Now one is going to have excuses for why they lost. The vultures are circling, it's gonna be more of a mercy beating now. Just put them out of their misery. Now it's just Ohio State, and I guess Wisconsin. It just doesn't have the same ring. Oh well, we'll just have to beat Ohio State twice this year. Maybe send Cryin Day out the door.
  16. Just over two weeks ago, Washington was on fire. Now they're a smoldering leaf pile. At least Mr. Rogers came back.
  17. Many are trying to soothe themselves by saying DeBoer had a fluke season. What's funny is they also say Lanning was never a target. So DeBoer is all smoke and mirrors, yet Alabama only wanted him? Not the guy that wins double digit games, and recruits at an elite level with SEC ties?
  18. First of all it's a stupid question, as you'll never get a real answer. "So Jedd, I know I asked DeBoer this question. He said this was his dream job, and would remain loyal to this place. But I think that was a lie because it would be stupid to tell recruits this is a stepping stone job. But are you gonna remain loyal to this place?" Fisch being the honest guy he is. "Oh no!! If the Florida job comes open, I'm going back to my alma mater. I graduated from there in '98, I worked under Spurrier as a grad assistant you know. Plus you seen the talent in that state!! I'm guessing I'll be here for a year or two. I need to continue winning so they'll hire me." "A big part of that will be my ability to recruit. So I'm hoping my up-front answer here won't dissuade recruits, boosters, or NIL businesses from joining me here. I need them you know."
  19. So Robert Downey JR won't be donating any of that Marvel money into NIL I'm guessing.
  20. My takeaway is that USC should cancel the Notre Dame series if they wanna complain about such a tough schedule. Michigan did it. I'm not sure if Michigan State has. Ohio State will only play them twice a decade. With the conference being so large, and having at least three blue bloods on your schedule, it makes little sense to play a challenging OOC schedule. The committee didn't even reward FSU for it this past year. Eat your cupcakes early, play a marshmellow before rivalry week. Get into the playoffs. Worked for the SEC.
  21. Come now Charles, we should all feel the pain from Husky land. I feel it as my smile would put the Joker's to shame. Why so serious?
  22. As he should be. That's why he's embracing all the outsiders now. It worked with him with Knowles. Lanning isn't anywhere near a hot seat, but if we lose to Washington again this upcoming season, there will be griping.
  23. With Florida being investigated for level two violations regarding NIL, in their recruitment of Rashada. We really need a clear set of rules, because the NCAA seems to not even know. Kiffin, or any SEC coach in general, should stop this finger pointing game. Ole Miss is not going to be able to match Oregon, but for years they benefited from geography. Let's be real here, most of the teams in the SEC contribute nothing to it being so dominant. Same goes for the Big Ten. So Oregon began marketing itself, doing it legally by the way. But people in Arkansas don't understand why a kid from Florida, Georgia, or Texas, would ever play in Oregon. USC feels the same, a big reason they wanted to keep Oregon out of the Big Ten.
  24. Lanning should have won one this year. Day should've won one last year. Don't make me laugh with Franklin though. Riley is the same. I would have Sarkasian and Norvell winning one in the next five years.
  25. With Oregon recruiting at an SEC level, and t having the nerve to take two of the top transfer QBs. Lane Kiffin is upset again. He lost his RB, and apparently he believes it wasn't solely a money move. This is meant to be Ole Miss's year, stop poaching talent. It's not fair!!! How can Lane win a title if programs like Oregon are using it's resources to win? Alabama fans are pretty ticked off too. Taking advantage of Saban leaving. Big Ten schools have no class. Lane Kiffin Says Ohio State Has Spent $13 Million In The Transfer Portal And That Seems Egregiously Low WWW.BARSTOOLSPORTS.COM I don't know if this was a complaint about Ohio State hand picking the top players out of the portal like they had first dibs... Kiffin supposedly knows what teams are spending. I doubt Ohio State only spent 13 million. I have a feeling it was at least double, but maybe they get a discount because they are Ohio State. I bet the whole SEC is going to be shocked if they ever see what Oregon can offer up. That's without a full Big Ten market share.
