Why Bo Nix Should NOT Start at Oregon
Duck 1972 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Don't know of any coaches at this level that play favorites. Now their criteria for the who's the best is another matter. That's why they get paid the big bucks. It's their necks that are on the line not us fans. We have to put things in perspective. -
Rich are getting richer. Last year they got #1 offense and defense portal players

Longhorns Throwing Shade at Oregon's New Coaching Staff?

Why does everybody else care about our coaches so much. I couldn't care less about theirs -

Oh No! Oregon is Losing Nate Costa

I believe both turned out to be starters for a season and in the pros NC never got the chance to shine because of the injury bug. -
New Duck DB Coach - Demetrice Martin

I agree with you but DL could have promoted them also. There's not going to be one position coach retained on the new staff. What I don't know is if any were asked to stay but chose not to or never even asked. -
Why Bo Nix Should NOT Start at Oregon

The QB at Oklahoma was the top player in the country coming in. It's rare for that to happen. And he was benched for the guy he replaced later in the season. That's not a good idea. Win it on the field of play. Meritocracy is the best policy. -
Moorhead Took a Massive Pay Cut to Leave Oregon.

Agree 100% with your analysis. Many people have posted that everyone on the team knew MC was leaving and JM would have 1st shot at the job. He didn't want it and chose to go home. I wish him the best. -
Damn I keep forgetting that this is the new information age that doesn't seem to understand you are innocent until proven guilty not the opposite. Also there is no redemption. Because you did something years ago the information age won't allow to grow and change. We all know we have did some things in the past, we learn from it and never do it again. I'm a firm believer in 2nd chances and believe we all should as we all would want that for ourselves.

INJURIES answers your question. Youth equals fear and indecision which equals slower responses which equals being beat. These kids have to learn u can't take 1 second off through out the whole game. That's called experience which equals confidence

New Duck DB Coach - Demetrice Martin

Looks like he's cleaning house. Just saw 2 advisor and 1 grad assistant leaving with K Wilson LB Coach and now head coach at Nevada -
And I believe it's the same type we talk about in games. Are you also describing the stress of fear or confidence. That's as real as it gets.

Herald Reports BMac to Miami as Done Deal
Duck 1972 replied to Duck1984's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Guys he says he is there for the players and until I see different I will believe him. I guess it's what they all do, don't know if there are rules or not. After the game and he leaves I will thank him for the 2 years he spent helping and recruiting Duck players. I understand that that divorces are messy so I don't see anything out of the ordinary. This year has been a real shake up for CFB. It's like this for so many teams.. The only ones that are a little better are the programs that hired within. So many coaches moving to new teams. Tough career choice -

Continue being overconfident. TOSU thought the same thing. Oops -
Especially need to keep him away from USC, UW and Bama.

USC Wire: USC's Coaching Staff Has an Edge Over Oregon's

Does anybody know if D Williams was retained as a coach by USC or is he a free agent and might want to come back to the Ducks? -
Ducks: Growing Pains, Youth Movement and Recruiting
Duck 1972 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Even with MC we still missed out on most top 5* recruits. We did ok with 4*. So I believe we are even going to somehow do better than MC and his staff. That's why the Malchow signing could turn out to be the most significant hire even if he will not be a coach. He just helped Texas A&M to the top class. Also with a dynamic coaching staff it could be a winning ticket. Now they have to prove they can win, dominate the PAC and keep playing and beating the big boys. So far thumbs up but again only time will tell. I'm hopeful but skeptical. There's a lot of potential pot holes in the road ahead. -
Ducks: Growing Pains, Youth Movement and Recruiting
Duck 1972 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree with you that it's too harsh. I don't believe that. MC was who he was. He was a lineman and coached as such He produced things I never thought I would see in Eugene. Top 10 classes of recruiting. Even with the success of the CK years we had trouble with that as he himself noted. CK was winning by out scheming our opponents. He changed CFB. But he moved on. Everybody copied him to the point it's no longer an advantage. The blue bloods are doing similar things to what CK did. The difference is they get most of the 4/5 stars like Thibs, Sewell, Flowe, etc. Jon Joseph has pointed out the Natty winners are over 50% BLUE Chips (4/5 stars) numerous times. If we want to be in the hunt we are going to have to keep recruiting like MC. Does that mean lesser stars are irrelevant? No Not even Alabama has all 4 and 5's. A great coach identifies the lower players that will grind, coach them up and help the team win. This can be the only recipe to playing for a Natty. Except for the Senior dominated teams which can level the playing field between talent and experience. But that's only once every couple of years. With the way players are opting out for the Draft it's only getting rarer. Hopefully we will still be in the position where we can get elite talent, coach up the others and be winning. Only time will tell.
