11 things Oregon Ducks Fans should be Thankful for this year

Duck fans have been on a wild ride, back in the 70's with Dick Enright and Don Read in charge, and Norv Turner at QB, Autzen was a great place to go if you wanted to get away from people and noise. Then we were thrilled when Musgrave and the Ducks went to the Independence Bowl!
So close to the Championship. Sabrina and the Lady Ducks were robbed of a chance to win the Championship, and I'm as certain about them winning it all as I am that the Football team would have had a Heisman winner to go with the Championship in 2007.
Of course, "Dyer was Down!" and what if Stanford and Nelson hadn't had major drops against OH. ST.?
So many times the ring has just been out of reach.

To be an actual playoff, the field needs to expand to at least 8 teams, and probably 12 teams if you want to include everyone who truly should be included.
This is the truth. In the NFL, Division winners have finished 7-9. In the MLB Playoffs just completed, the Atlanta Braves won 89 games and won their division, they hosted the Dodgers, who won 107 games, but finished 2nd in their division.
Winning conferences, or even divisions, is in the minutia that the Committee looks at while filling out their invitations.

The Ducks were picked to finish right behind UCLA in the standings, No. 12 in the Poll. But then BYU happened.

Even Dana Altman is surprised by the Ducks regression in the past few games.

If Oregon had played New Mexico State in Autzen last Saturday where would the Ducks be ranked? No lower than 4.
Based on what the other teams have done, with the W @ Oh. ST. and the L to Stanford, probably 3, and maybe 2, if the Committee kept the Ducks above OH. ST.

The biggest issue though is they have no natural point guard.
I agree that is the major issue; that Altman does know how to coach the Big, and that for him to be effective, needs a PG to run the offense and get the ball to him. Richardson was supposed to be that guy, but last season he hurt his thumb, and by the time he got back, it was Duarte, and Omoruyi's team. Now he was supposed to be the leader, but was inexperienced, and the BYU team seems to have taken the confidence from him and the others.
