Evans is an essential piece of the puzzle. Playing next to Bittle again, improving his game, he can rack up a bunch of double-doubles. And his familiarity with Altman's system will be of great value on the court and in building team chemistry. I'm very happy.

I am sure that I have underestimated Blair Rasmussen. I was on the East Coast during his era watching Big East basketball and wasn't too excited about post-Dick Harter UO Basketball. I hope that Bittle can surpass him with another year at UO. As for whether Bittle or Dante is better, I'm leaning to toward Bittle. Dante was more spectacular; Bittle is more well-rounded.

Is Nate Bittle the best center ever for the Ducks? Who is the best center ever to play for the Ducks? Like Bittle, N’Faly Dante didn’t get much of a chance to put up stats prior to his senior year. With one big year each, both need to be considered in the mix in my mind. Last year, watching N’faly Dante play at the end of the season, the way he had to face a different talented giant night after night, the way he fought and pushed and shoved underneath to hold the position, and the way he succeeded -- scoring an average of 16.8 points per game and 8.8 rebounds in his last dozen games for the Ducks, I had to wonder at the time if he was the best center the Ducks have ever had. It’s too bad he wasn’t able to return to the team for another season; I still don’t understand why that request was refused. He played so well I expected him to make more of an impression in the NBA immediately than he has. Now this year, here is what Bittle is doing in his past dozen games -- Going into MSU he's averging: 15.8 points per game, 7.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.6 rebounds. Bittle also shoots well from 3-point range and from the foul line. He doesn’t seem to push or get pushed as much as Dante did; he has a savvier game, better footwork, more experience. To my surprise, I am coming to see Bittle as a better all-around center then Dante. UO doesn't seem to have had a great many stars at the Center position. A quick search lists Slim Wintermute, Blair Rasmussen, Greg Ballard, Jordan Bell, and Chris Boucher. I have seen them all except Wintermute I don't think either Ballard, Bell or Boucher was a true center, and I don't know if Rasmussen was as good as either. They were all great players but I think that the choice for best center ever actually comes down to last year’s Dante and this year’s Bittle with my choice being Nate Bittle. Kind of a surprising conclusion, but let’s enjoy his great play. Who knows, he might even be back next season.

Here are some thoughts I'm pondering about the Ducks returning QB’s. I think they are the same questions we are all asking ourselves. It seems that Dante Moore is going to Fall camp as the favorite to win the starting role. He’s obviously super-talented, is the most experienced, and he looked poised in very limited action last season. I wish him well. On the other hand, if Austin Novosad outplays him to win the job I'd be no less happy. Is Novosad really in contention? Do you think he has a chance to win the starting job? What about Luke Moga? He impressed in his sneak peek last spring. Do any of you view Moga as even a dark horse to start as a red-shirt Freshman? I am also pondering whether the Ducks will want to, or be able to, keep at least one of these QB’s from hitting the transfer portal once Spring practice ends. If Moore is named, do you think Novosad will leave after Spring practice? Would he still have a chance to find a good team that will look at him as a starter transferring that late? And, what if Novosad is named QB1 - will Dante Moore transfer? If both Moore and Novosad stay, do you think Moga will transfer? He will probably be fighting just to be the #3 man this year and again next season, given the kind of quality lined up behind. Finally, what if no one is named the starter at the end of Spring practice? I think this is what we are most likely to see. Do you think all three quarterbacks will stay? Will all three quarterbacks be Ducks next season?

Steady improvement from Kwame Evans is wonderful to see. He is as big an x-Factor for the postseason as the Ducks have. I have had my doubts whether Evans will finish his career as a Duck but when I see him fit into the rotation more and more it gives me hope. Tied to Evans in my mind is Mookie Cook. I look for an explanation in this forum about Mookie Cook his lack of playing time. It confuses me. Today I got to see him used effectively to help apply full court pressure. I would love to see someone post an article or comment to give some insight on Mookie's progress or lack of same. Great win today! Go Ducks!

Agree. I'm worried about the same thing. If the first round had been a week earlier and those teams would have to play without the benefit of a week off, the bye would have been a huge benefit. As it is, it may be a detriment.
