Canzano: College Football Playoff Wants to Empty Your Pockets
woundedknees replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Honestly. I can no longer afford season tickets or playoff chasing. Prior to the death of my son, I was far more likely to travel with him to a bowl site, simply because that was our main form of guy time, other than him being one of my two main fishing buddies. My daughter and wife used to attend with me as well, but both of them have mobility issues that limit the number of games in a stadium like Autzen or an arena like Matt they can enjoy attending to a couple a year. Good thing My grandson likes the Ducks! -

Troy DYE, Michael Clay, Kiko Alonso, one player of that level and heart could have made a huge difference this season. -
End Game: Why So Many Official Visits?
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
During Chip Kelly's tenure, the Ducks rarely utilized their full allotment of OV's, and it actually bit OBD in the downy nether regions when the NCAA dropped recruiting sanctions on Oregon over Willie Lyars... er Lyles. Instead of losing a couple visits, from the existing max available, the NCAA took a couple of the average number used under Chip, essentially multiplying the impact of the sanctions. -
Dang... Hope it's just a temporary trip to the locker room for Rising.

Wait, WHAT??? No NFL offers for 1-4 Riley?

USC already left a permanent stain on the PAC... The only thing I'll miss about having them in the Conference of Champions is the occasional opportunity to show them why so-called peons usually win revolutions! Hope they enjoy the view of that hillside mansion their 1-4 Bowl coach "earned" on the golf course! Hope the duffers rattle Riley's windows early, every morning. Let the excuses begin! Maybe Jameis Winston can ghost write a comment for 'em!

In the interest of equity, can we take an extra helping of pride in the loyal PAC member's performance this bowl season? Nice send-off for the Dessert-ers!

Duck Signees in All-American Bowl
woundedknees replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I've seen video of Harbor, and it makes sense to compare his start to Jamaican Multi-gold medal Olympian and world record holder Usain Bolt... they have very similar strides (Ok, Bolt is SMOoth!), but both are also SLOW out of the blocks and take a wee bit to get up to speed. When I was a sprinter, I could consistently blow by opponents out of the blocks, but 3rd place was a great finish with my short legs and poor acceleration. After the forty mark, I have no doubt Harbor would eat this little guy's lunch... -
One of those items the NCAA thinks are 'harmful' to student athletes?

A duck I have mentioned before, Russ Francis, 'thought' he could be a 2 sport athlete at Oregon. He never truly excelled on the turf, yet had a long and successful, all pro level career in the league. He entered Oregon as the national High School record holder in the javelin. I personally witnessed him run 9.5 second (hand timed) 100 yard dash in high school. He never ran at Oregon, and never performed at at high level in the javelin, either. Yet Oregon has shown as have other schools, that football players can achieve success at both sports... Jordan Kent, Patrick Johnson, Mel Renfro, JJ Birden, Ronnie Harris, and of course Devon Allen, were all sprint/hurdle guys. NCAA relay championships are often won or at least contended at a high level, by squads consisting largely of football stars. It can be done successfully, but there is definitely a different work ethic involved. One of the biggest advantages offered by Oregon sits at the Hatfield Dowlin Complex, and Hayard... the training support may be unmatched in the NCAA.

My mother in law has three beta maxes, and four vhs, all cross wired to copy whatever, hooked up in the room where my deceased father in law used to hold camp during Duck football season... I couldn't figure out the wiring sequence if she would let me try to clean that mess up!

2022 Holiday Bowl: The Luck of Duck Comes From Pluck

When the game was on the line, BUCKY grabbed, er... snatched the balls on ST and showed elusive toughness and determination on special teams plays that Duck fans had been begging for, delivering fans a level of anticipation and hope that fair catches can never provide.
