I did notice that Riley and Rogers started on the DL....new transfers in this year.

If you were a HS lineman who had been considering Oregon before, wouldn't you be even more interested now given the play of both lines through 3 weeks?
I think Klemm and Tuioti have these lines playing more cohesively than they ever did under Web Ewbank (our last coach whose scheme antiquity set us back to the 50's) and Lupoi and Dilly schemes make the game fun and challenging, as opposed to pounding sand each play.
So, you big fellas out there looking for a landing spot, come on down!

I love that Lanning highlighted having to work on his coaching approach during SHOUT
Mentioned (tongue-in-cheek) needing to establish possible performance criteria for players to be eligible to dance because he wants to do some coaching up on the sideline prior to resumption of play.

Short passes to the perimeter and long balls to the non-Gonzo side of the secondary are where we are being attacked. LB's are going to be neutralized somewhat by that approach.....except Bassa, and to a lesser degree Brown, who can cover in space. Bassa was on fire from what I saw

Lanning's quote in last week's presser when asked about Noah indicated that they are using NS in different positions within multiple packages. My take on that was they want him to be the focus of the Offense's shifts to allow others to gain keys on the play and disrupt....to decoy and take on 2 blockers essentially.

Scott Frost has epitomized The Peter Principle for over a decade now. Each successor that followed him on his career climb while at Oregon outshined him. I don't say this out of any animosity towards the guy....I was psyched when Chip brought him in.....he just seemed underwhelming to me.
Except when he held back LGB from tearing Bryon Hout's head off.....now that was impressive and exceeded my expectations.

Add SDSU, Fresno St., UNLV, Nevada, Utah St. and Colorado St.
There is some symmetry there and geographic rivalries could spur these schools to up the ante on their programs. Will it compete with the 2 big leagues? No. But that ship has sailed already.
Bring back the (now Pac16) championship game and hold it in the new LA Stadium. Then go beat out-of-conference teams in bowl games

With so many weapons, distribution will be wide, making a skill player an outside bet. So, a QB, as David Marsh said is the easy choice.
For a flyer, I would look at a receiving TE. Dilly's offense will unleash this position. In a feel good story for the ages, I am placing my bet on Cam McCormick.
May the Schwartz be with us.

Anybody know where the officiating team is coming in from? If it's SEC that could be an issue for Oregon as the SEC calls a slightly different game than the PAC. Let's hope it's the MAC.
Nothing is worse than the PAC-12 officials.....who, rumor has it, is considering flagging thought crime this season.
I wish we had SEC officiating every PAC-12 game. Those folks understand the "flow of the game" and when to swallow the whistle.
Bear Bryant once said there is a penalty on every play.....PAC-12 officials get paid by the flag apparently.

He always predicts that Oregon will lose to Stanford or Cal. That's his deal. It's like clockwork.
And he's right during basketball season

Plan to do that on that Friday, we'll be driving back that Sunday.
Have a great time.....Eugene in Fall on gameday is a blast. Walk to the stadium from campus, cross the river and check out the Mo Center inside the gates for pre-game.
After the game, hit a tailgater in the parking lot before wandering back across the river and through campus to Rennie's for the wind down. Sy's pizza for a slice between brews is around the corner from Rennie's. Just follow the crowd both ways and you'll get to where you need to go.

All of these places have good beer and good grub. At the same time, they are all staffed by youngish hipster types who hate all sports. You'll have to separate the Autzen experience from the brewery experience.
This^^^
Rennie's or The Cooler would be better options on game day. They will have good local brews on tap without the skinny jeans & avocado toast vibe.
Of course I am 60 so....
Besides, you can always go to Ninkasi or another brewery for the microbrew tour/tasting experience on Friday or Sunday.

I believe #43 in the video at @2:06 is David Cusano - actually the starting nose tackle for the Ducks in the late 80's. Here's a link to some of his highlight plays:
Thanks, Stray! i was at those home games in his era but didn't recognize him. His DL teammate Matt Brock was drafted by the Packers and got most of the attention on that squad.

At 2:06, who is #43 the LBer with the tackle against UCLA.....looks like Akili era unis
He drops the back and in one move, slides and pops up to throw the full arm "O"

In the modern environment, good online media is either ad-supported or for-pay. Totally understandable for all of your cost and efforts.

If Dana wants him, I want him. I trust Dana's ability to determine his value. The danger is he thinks he's his Dad when he is really Adam Morrison.

They couldn't be worse than the NCAA so why not?

Correlation is not causation but, man, DZNC lays out a good case that mirrors my recollection of the events. But I had forgotten how much better Taggart's offense and JH's numbers were.
"Only three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad."
The Kamikaze Kid posted this quote in this thread. I recall that Chip said this regarding his run dominate offense. I think MC sold Mullens that his system would return to a run-dominate offense after the Helf/Taggart era, but would do it with SEC physicality.
There were many Duck fans clamoring for that at the time.....advocating that was the difference in two Championship games we lost. Ground and pound, drain the clock, keep our defense off the field more after ignoring TOP under Chip and then Helf. The TCU Bowl Game really cranked up this line of rhetoric.
QB's aren't going to shine statistically in that style of offense, but they can make a few big plays in the air or with their legs and be on a championship team, Bama style, and get a shot at the draft.
Turns out we won a lot of games doing that......until we didn't and MC didn't adjust. The second half in the bowl against Oklahoma showed how possible that would have been. So, why not adjust and open up the playbook some.
I think Mario had the Miami job locked down after the Buckeye's and didn't want to risk a loss.....which is exactly what caused the 2 Utah hose downs. Isn't it ironic, dontcha think? The good advice that you just didn't take.....who would have thought 'It figures.' Sorry, Alanis Morisette just showed up.
Thnaks for the great articles, DZNC, including this one!

Is Oregon STILL a Conference Champion Contender to You?
in Our Beloved Ducks

IMHO, Ward and Wazzu played 3.5 quarters of unbelievable offense, abetted by unfamiliarity, a wide open playbook, unbelievable luck to escape losses (Ward's pitch over a defender is a disaster 99% of the time), dumb penalties on our part, crappy officiating, and home field mojo.
In Autzen that score is much different. Though the officiating crappiness would still be there.
Oregon took Wazzu's best shot and then some.
