FishDuck’s Special B1G Championship Game Analysis
idontrollonshobbas replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think PSU will have a lot of incentive to keep a new kid on the block from winning their inaugural B1G championship. Franklin will bring the tradition angle as motivation.....our PR savvy, snazzy unis and the "gimmicky offense" meme will be employed to wind up the Nittany Lions. That, plus a big crowd and the time difference will keep it close early. The Ducks need to be offensively efficient in the first half, limit turnovers and penalties, turn yards into points. The second half is when the Ducks will pull away. -
UCLA Fires OC Eric Bieniemy

Apparently, according to the local Portland AM sports talk cognoscenti, EB is kind of a jerk and difficult to work with and around. Over the years, he has been overlooked for NFL HC positions for this same reason, though speculation in the press often assumed discrimination in the past. I am paraphrasing the above....the tone was much more emphatic live on air. -
He's Back. Brian Jones Picks Oregon to Lose Again!

He's loud and goofy....the only skills needed for modern sports talk. Sense-making? Not so much. -
Time to For the Big Ten to Adopt Las Vegas

Still the greatest call ever..."The Most Improbable Finish to a Football Game!!" Bookended with the Civil War 2010 call...."Your Oregon Ducks are going to the National Championship Game" These two calls, for me, are the perfect encapsulation of the Ducks' 15 year journey to prominence. But, like Mac Court, some nostalgic totems are meant to be outlived. -

So...How Does This Win Make You Feel?

One thing I miss about the Pac-12 Network (wash my mouth with soap) is Nick Alliotti's commentary on the Ducks defense. Would have loved to hear his impressions the season. The Danimal has officially excorcised the demons previously ensorcelled by Stubler, Hoke, and Pellum. -

Conference Champions....against all odds. Meaning 50%. One for the ages. Cletus will be telling his grandson Jasper about this when they are both toothless and sipping varmint slurpees in the Philomath trailer park. -

Ravens at Chargers on Monday Night Football

I think Jim Harbaugh needs one more offseason to assemble the quality roster he envisions to make the Chargers a serious contender. -
I have had dogs my entire life which means I have faced these tough decision multiple times. The first few were the hardest and I waited too long. Though no easier, the later decisions were made with the dog's comfort in the forefront of the timing. The last time I had a vet tech in an emergency clinic tell me that the hardest decision was the best for my dog. I will never forget what she told me: "We don't owe our pets eternal life, simply the best possible life every day they are with us." As with so many things in life, it's about making the most of every day we have.

Another difference this season is quality depth. O line depth spooks me a bit if we take another injury hit....but otherwise, we have tested 2 deep in each unit with some 3 deep. Last year the "middle eight minutes" was a mantra and team delivered. This year the formula seems to be a brute force first half to build a cushion and then rope-a-dope the 3rd quarter to react to halftime adjustments, drain clock and slow bleed the opponent so the 4th quarter is surrender time. Or as my local ophiologist said, the Ducks first strike like an Elapidae, then squeeze like a Boidae

Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
idontrollonshobbas replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Of the two teams, arguably, Oregon has more room to improve. I think we took their best shot. In a rematch, with Burch, Howard will have even less time for routes to develop. -
According to Brock Huard and Jason Bennetti, Tez is an NFL prospect who will challenge NFL LB'ers with his elusive ability to get open. I hope Stewart wasn't hurt on the end zone throw...
