Mario Cristobal--When the Knives Come Out

This season for Miami will tell if Cristobal learned in Eugene to get out of his own way. Like the Hare in the fable, Mario is a strong starter. His term as head coach in Miami will be remembered by how he finishes, not how he starts.

How High Can Dillingham’s Ducks Fly?

The slot receivers will help the Ducks gain critical first downs and make explosive plays. Seven and Hutson add fire power to the roster. It will not surprise me to see Thompson or Butters overtake Bo Nix by the end of the season. I don't predict a QB transition, but it may occur anyway. Talent is nipping at Bo's heels. Dillingham's tempo offense, along with the talent of the skill players will likely create uncertainty by the defense. Even a brief indecision could result in chunk yardage or a TD.

Regarding Bo Nix: Beware ‘Bandwagon Buy-In’

The 2 years prior to Morris' arrival, Clemson went a combined 15–12, including a record of 6–7 in 2010. Morris introduced a hurry-up, spread offense that helped Clemson to a 42–11 mark over the next four seasons. Wikipedia

Regarding Bo Nix: Beware ‘Bandwagon Buy-In’

The article presents facts and contains comparative analysis leading to presumptive conclusions. Yes, the history of Bo Nix’s career has been spotty. I was watching as Bo Nix debuted against the Ducks at AT&T Stadium in 2019. Some observations were as follows. Nix is a warrior willing to put the team on his shoulders to win the battle. He is a dual threat able to throw and run. Nix has a strong core and also has powerful legs. Nix was the hero of the game not only for the final touchdown pass, but for his competitive spirit, yards after contact, football savvy, team leadership and instincts. Nix will have the best support of his career around him. The O-line has been anointed as the PAC12’s best. The wide-outs, slot receivers, Tight ends, and running backs are talented, deep, and experienced. Nix is not making headlines in 2023 NFL Draft assessments. To change the narrative, Bo Nix must turn in some of the highest QB statistics this season. He has the scheme, teammates and coaches to do it. Will he? He has a motive. Will one of the other QB’s, Thompson or Butterfield, win the job? That too is possible making Quarterback one of the key storylines to watch as the fall camp and the new season commence.

		Fall Camp Opens On Friday

Oregon Football opens its 2022 fall camp practice on Friday, August 5th. What are the biggest challenges lying ahead? The coaching staff premieres as a unit. Are they talented with synergy? Is the whole better than the sum? Can they outmaneuver other coaching staff's coaching? How will the Quarterback play shake out for the first game and across the season? The Ducks have stud drakes. but will they perform consistently on the biggest stages? Has the defensive backfield reloaded? Can they defend at all levels? Can they dominate their opponents? Can they win with take-aways every game? We know these Ducks are good. Can they become great? Can they shock the Dawgs? If they do not. then can they rebound and win the conference? The next phase of Oregon Football begins this Friday. Go Ducks.

The Great College Football Schism is Coming

I had quieted my stirrings with the axiom, "99% of things we worry about never happen". Chill. Since I am simply a fan, I'll observe as college football changes and the dust settles. I will watch the Ducks and their foes after that to see what is new and better (?). Somewhere along the timeline I am statistically likely to die given the probabilities for aging. Thank you David for articulating various premises throughout your article.

Stanford and Cal With No Ducks?

Sirius ESPNU radio show Full Ride today talked about Media days saying the following, Chris Childers said "Kliavkoff was walking around like his best pig died at the county fair". He added further that, Kevin Warren was the happiest guy there and "dancing around like a little kid". Childers predicted that Warren and the Big Ten will expand with Stanford and Cal within two years. He reasoned that (1) Notre Dame is the ultimate prize, and Notre Dame's scheduling fits best with USC and Stanford, (2) Two more California schools fit best with USC and UCLA in the expanded B1G (3) Oregon and Washington do not help attract Notre Dame like Cal and Stanford do.

Pac-12 Media Days: View From CBS

The coaches and player representatives are usually the main attraction of the media days. This year Commissioner Kliavakoff will have my attention more than the coaches or players. It is sad, but true that the governance of the conference, conference strategies, negotiations with other conferences and the negotiations for media rights make the coach and player conversations pale by comparison this year. Unfortuanately, we are unlikely to learn much about the big issues.
