Jaden Navarrette may be a candidate for some snaps that fits the profile: From Wholeflockofducks.com last year. Notable strengths: Ultra versatile: With Navarrette, it’s pick your poison. You want him on offense split out as a receiver or in-line as a tight end? No problem. You want him on defense as a stand up edge rusher, or a defensive end with his hand in the dirt? He’s got you covered there. Navarrette even excelled as a lead blocking fullback for fellow Oregon commit Jaydn Ott for the Norco rushing attack last season. Whatever your needs, Navarrette is athletic and versatile enough to fulfill your schematic wishes. Natural pass rusher: Navarrette is a natural on the football field period, but it’s his skills as an edge rusher that could make a him a potential star. His quickness off the snap, strength at the point of attack, determined mentality pursuing the quarterback, and difficult to defend spin move are eyebrow raising qualities that make him an ideal fit for Oregon’s STUD linebacker position. Knows how to use his body: This may sound like an overly vague statement, but it’s really the best way to describe Navarrette when you see him perform on film. Whether he’s deploy on offense or defense, Navarrette has a great sense of leverage and a knack for using his 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame to his advantage. This is an preternatual skill that could serve him well as he look to secure playing time in his first season. Overall outlook: The construction of Oregon’s 2020 recruiting class is in its infant stages, but already the Ducks have made a habit of pursuing big, versatile athletes (see Seth Figgins and Peter Latu). However, with Navarrette’s commitment Friday, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal may have landed the best jumbo athlete of the bunch. Navarrette could realistically play a handful of positions on offense or defense whenever he arrives in Eugene, but it appears as if he’ll get his first look as an outside linebacker/rush end.

I grew up between Eugene and Coos Bay. My mother graduated from Marshfield High. We heard of Pre in H.S. He was in the same dorm quad as me in 1969-70. I saw him run many times and it was always thrilling. I was driving to UO on Hwy 126 from Florence the day after his last meet near Whitaker Creek when I heard the news of Pre’s death over the radio. I shuddered in disbelief and was left stunned and empty. I remember the magic of his running and his will to win. R.I.P. “Pre”

There is more to being a top QB than simply the numbers. T.S. needs S&C, coaching, experience, lots of film, confidence and mental and physical toughness. IMO, he needs stiff competition and to earn the starting job. Again, in my eyes he lost it and he was not Oregon’s best option at QB the last few games of 2020. Play the one who gives our team the best chance to win at the moment. Plan for the long haul at intervals. Don’t lose games to protect the QB’s phsyche.

Give credit and praise to the coaches and recruiting staff for a job well done. I'm reasonably sure that Coach C will lead top recruiting recuiting performance every year. Now can they coach 'em up and call winning schemes?

You are right. Coach Cristobal should take a summer field trip to KC. Get him a ticket and some KC ribs with KC special sauce. Maybe he can bring home some of Andy's "special sauce". Coach Moorhead no doubt will be studying those Chief's plays. Personally I love the misdirections, and pressure on the boundaries. KC terrorizes most defenses. That said, TB may very well contain KC more than most. If not, the SB will be a shootout. It must be tough in LV to set the O/U line without ending up with white knuckles.

Quality depth is always an asset. The win over the Huskies was impressive. We need to get our big guns healthy and on the court to gel before the tourney. What a difference another year will make for this roster.

Cardwell could become the cream on top of the strawberries for this class. UO and Cardwell are a match made in Heaven.

I would like the Presidents to create a draft strategy matrix of goals and priorities for 2, 5 and 10 years. Interview against those, and then revise the matrix with the newly hired Commish who will be responsible to deliver the plan, and reviewed annually against it with rewards and penalties resulting.
