  1. Related: Notre Dame AD Swarbrick Sees Total Division I Realignment as ‘Inevitable’ WWW.SI.COM Wholesale change is unavoidable in college athletics. The Fighting Irish athletic director thinks a total realignment of Division I is coming with it. It's time to rethink the role of NCAA president, who is qualified to lead it THEATHLETIC.COM Mark Emmert and other former university presidents have failed. It's time to think outside the box for his replacement.
  2. I made a long drive today while listening to hours of ESPNU on Sirius. I wish I could credit the speakers, but I cannot remember their names. Some things I remember them saying are: - All football fans should celebrate today. "I feel like we should all be like The Munchkins - running around today singing Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead. - College football is undoutedly moving to a premier league and new structures for the rest. They talked about how such an arrangement would effect programs and fans at schools like Memphis that will be left out of the top tier. Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick said this week that a break up and restructuring of Division I "is inevitable". - In another segment it was suggested that two names being tossed around to replace Emmert are Jack Swarbrick or Greg Sankey. I cannot fathom either of them being interested in the position. Can you imagine Greg Sankey coordinating rules revisions of college football? The PAC12 would fare well under Sankey.
  3. - Some of the transfers in will help this team - The QB's have talent and one or more will take charge by mid season - The offense will be fun to watch this season and beyond - The RB's are going to produce good stats this season - The game was fairly clean of mistakes for a Spring Game - Thornton and Cota looked good. Franklin flashed some potential - LB's look good and will be a strength It's a long time until September 3rd, but it will come quickly.
  4. Great recruiting fodder. Nice timing. Go Thibs. Go Ducks.
  5. It will be great when Oregon becomes the standard that other teams dream of. Go Ducks.
  6. Payton Pritchard is showing that he belongs in the NBA. 2021-2022 season stat line: PPG 6.2 REB 1.9 AST 2.O While the numbers don't immediately jump off the page, Pritchard has gained respect while playing 6-15 minutes per game. Extrapolating Payton's production to 30 minutes per game his contributions become significant. In last night's first round win over the Nets Payton recorded 10 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist in 16 minutes on 5-7 FG shooting. With his competitive nature and willingness to put in the work, his best years are ahead of him. Keep your eyes on Payton Pritchard. I expect him to become a starter within the next few years and to have a long career if he can stay healthy. He will "get paid" with his next contract. Go Ducks. Congratulations Payton. 2021-22 PPGSEASON STATSPTS
  7. One more.... Southwestern Oregon’s Umpqua River system offers some of the state’s best and most diverse river fishing in its mainstem and two big forks. Here you can find some of the biggest Chinook salmon around (both in the spring and fall), steelhead (both summer and winter runs) and fall coho. You’ll also find some of the region’s best fishing for hard-fighting non-native species including astounding numbers of smallmouth bass and shad and some giant striped bass. Suggest a guide from the Reedsport area for lower river salmon, sturgeon, or striped bass. A guide from Roseburg, Sutherlin, or Glide can get you steelhead, trout, salmon or smallmouth depending on water conditions from rain or no rain. The upper river is likely to be low in mid September.
  8. The McKenzie River near Springfield easily is among the most popular fishing streams in the Willamette Valley. The McKenzie has abundant wild and hatchery trout, runs of both spring Chinook and summer steelhead, and at least some angling opportunities all year. This river is on our top choice for Western Oregon in our run-down of Best Fly Fishing Rivers in Oregon, and there are a number of local guides who specialize in fly fishing here.
  9. Klemm said, "We want to rep it enough to have "unconscious competence."
  10. Notice how young and deep the roster is. Wow! Thank you, ChileDuck.
  11. Pedal down, air horn blasting. No Jake. Running fast toward the Natty.
  12. One becomes a Saban only after many years of success and championships. Nick Saban, like him or not, is the gold standard of college football coaching. Coach Lanning has a record of 0-0 as a Head Coach. Nick Saban is 241-64-1 with six national championship titles won. This is a fun time to be a Oregon Football fan. There are many early "Dan Fans". Let us support him and his teams as the future unfolds. GO DUCKS!
  13. Love me some Ducks. Did you know that Tennessee is out to a 31-1 start, 12-0 in SEC play? That's on- fire Tennessee blaze orange HOT.
  14. No Dye? Don't Cry. Here's Why. Bob Marley?
  15. It will be in the 80's Tuesday and into the week in Clemson. I wanted to attend its spring game, but not with temps in the 40's and a stiff breeze which gives Memorial Stadium and Death Valley new meaning. I opted to sit on a cold soccer field for two games watching my granddaughter play, which warmed me. Tell 'em Jon.
  16. Thanks Coach and thanks Charles. Maybe Coach Dillingham can take the "O" out of the "boring" of the last few years returning the offense to the excitement Oregon is known for? Go Ducks.
  17. Speaking of limbo and drama I look forward to the futures of Thompson and Butters. They are both potentially great signal callers who hold the attributes of greatness. They are smart, have the requisite stature, boast big arms, and have plenty of practice experience under their belts. I’m hoping they will remain loyal to Oregon and Oregon Football. Through the drama of the season, and the limbo that Thompson and Butterfield dance, I hope that one of them will emerge to eventually become a national champion and high 1st round NFL Draft pick. It’s not over until it’s over.
  18. The near future is poised to be a glorious era of Oregon sports. This is setting up to be magnificent run for fans. Football is king in the sports program topping all budgets, producing revenue, and making headlines in national media shining light on the University of Oregon and the state. The football team is stacked with talent from Coach Cristobal’s recruiting successes. Coach Lanning and his staff have hit the ground running with intense focus on taking the Ducks to the summit of college football. There are plenty of facts that line up to a conclusion there is a “fighter’s chance” that there is a CFB championship ahead for the Ducks. The 2022 season begins in Atlanta where the Ducks line up against the 2021 season national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Coach Lanning has requested the support of fans at the 2022 Spring Football Game. It is scheduled for April 23rd at 1:00 P.M. in Autzen stadium. Save the date and be there with your family and friends to signal a new era of Oregon Football fandom. The men’s and women’s basketball teams for Oregon have faltered a bit this year from expectations. Despite that, the teams are talent laden, fiercely competitive teams that can bring it at both ends of the court. The teams play with drama and suspense along with amazing athleticism. There is lots for fans to watch, enjoy, and yes - bemoan sometimes watching MBB and WBB teams. Both teams will be loaded for the 2022-2023 season. Track and Field is back in the storied Oregon Track program. The team is stacked ready to represent Oregon in the best-in-the-world Hayward Field facility that will host both NCAA and open world title events. Fans will see a new generation of Track and Field marvels in Eugene. Oregon’s Coach Johnson has recruited a highly ranked class of champions and future college and possible world champions. The women’s Softball team is off to an undefeated start in its new season. This year’s team is posed for a post-season run. The future is bright for women’s softball at Oregon. The men’s Baseball team is just opening its season. Oregon baseball has become more prominent on the national scene. It is reasonable that new stars will emerge and a trip to Omaha for the College World Series may soon be in the offing. The above-noted sports teams are the major sports. Oregon also fields wonderful athletes and competitive teams worth watching and following in Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf, etc. Let’s get behind our Ducks (Ducks in a row) as fans, and do our parts to boost our players and teams.
  19. It takes hard work and a team to win. Let’s welcome Brennan. Coach Altman chose him and offered him.
  20. Having witnessed the beat-downs of the Ducks by the Trojans in the “student body right - student body left” days, and the era of “Tail Back U”, experiencing the last 15 years of the Ducks superiority has been satisfying. O.J. Simpson, Mike Garrett, Ricky Bell, Marcus Allen, Charles White, Anthony Davis, Reggie Bush… It will be good for the PAC-12 for USC Football to become nationally relevant again, as it should be. Let new epic battles begin between the North and South. Fly Ducks fly. The Ducks are positioned to take on all-comers and win.
  21. You wrote a good summary opinion piece, Jon, smattered with QB factoids. While the QB slots will mostly be filled as you project at the beginning of the season as you project, who will be the starters in November? Injuries and competition take their tolls as the realities of the season unfold. Thank you.
