  1. Just more icing on the cake for DL and his staff. These young men can really recruit. As mentioned above the competition for playing time and starting positions will be fierce going foward. A few more key recruits and this will be a solid top 10 class. GO DUCKS........
  2. Thanks P Duck for posting this article featuring Bo Nix. It was worth the read and very positive. Excited for Bo and his family that this young man has grown thru the challenges before him. Bo will be a leader and excel in all his future endeavors. Love that he wants to win a championship and that leads to other championships. With this quality young man at the helm, 2023 will be a great year for the Duck family. Wishing nothing but the best for Bo, his wife and family. Go Bo.....Go Ducks ....
  3. For me it boils down to Penix, Williams, Rising and Bo. And in no particular order because they are all so close. Chances are good that one of these 4 could win the Heisman. These 4 will be lighting up scoreboards week in and week out. My favorite is Bo because I am a Duck homer. The team with the best performimg defense will put their team in the CFP. And maybe even decide the eventual Heisman winner. My money is on DL's defense causing chaos and having some epic performances. And even with a vastly improved D the Ducks will need to average 45 points plus per game to make the CFP. Beating one of the following teams, Utah, uw, usc and even OSU twice to win the PAC Title will be a big task. Having a 5th year starting QB is a big plus for OBD's. Yhe article is right on... Bo Nix will be the top dog. Just no running between the tackles, please.....
  4. Well...... The huskies ranked ahead of OBD's doesn't feel right. Like JJ, I am a homer. I wish usuck would be ranked #2, behind the real Dawgs. That way their fall would be more epic. Having to play both uw and the Ducks this season will be more challenging for the traitors. Unless the usuck defense steps up a few teams will put 50 plus on the board. OBD's schedule sets up nice for a run to the CFP. They should face at least 5 ranked teams (including PAC Title Game). With the improved talent on the D coming together the Ducks should be 11-1 heading into the title game. Yes the PAC has proven, exceptional QB's at most schools. The D must get after them, causing chaos and turnovers. If they do? Then... This is the year for our Ducks. We have a proven 5th year starting QB with exceptional talent all around him....Bo is a leader and now is the time. GO DUCKS......
  5. Finally got a chance to view these great Duck highlights. Thanks cartm25 for posting. It was worth the look....... DAT and LJ were electric game changers. Held my breath in anticipation when they touched the ball. The 99 yard fumble recovery TD by Walker at Utah was one of those once in a lifetime plays. The silence after the completion of the play/ruling was deafening..... But the best highlights were the 5 TD destruction of the trojans by Kenyon. What a performance...... It is exciting to know the 2023 Ducks will be adding to these highlights. GO DUCKS..........
  6. Its just my opinion, for what its worth, that certain portions of the potential PAC10 media rights deal will be ground breaking for CF and the conference. What kind of money that generates is unknown to us, at this point. Strapped for cash, Disney/ESPN/ABC could find the Tier 2 rights much more affordable and profitable. I cannot fathom ESPN vacating after dark games on Friday/Saturday nights. They should not expect to have Oregon, Washington or Utah on their linear feeds unless they pay more and they start those games no later than 7:00 pm est/4:00 pm pst Those 3 schools are the prime time schools for the PAC and ESPN should pay more to broadcast. Afterall ESPN is a sports progamming network, they should start acting like it..... Will be interesting to see how this all plays out....... GO DUCKS....... You know they say the PAC12 Network reaches about 15 million people. With millions more finding it difficult to find PAC games. Just consider this thought and for goodness sake this is not fact or sourced. What if the PAC12 Network became a subscription based streamer. If 15 million people paid $6 per month for all PAC sports that would be $90 million a month or $1.08 billion annually. Annually. .... Of course their are expenses to operate and the need for a platform carrier. However, if expenses, fees, taxes, etc. were $50 million a month that leaves $480 million a year to divide. Now remember this is just a thought not a rumor or fact. But the PAC should be thinking about whats best for the future, control its own destiny........ be bold and lead the way. I would pay a monthly fee.... Because, on a personal level, i could care less about the other 4-P5 conferences. Why? Because they could care less about us..... GO DUCKS AND GO PAC......
  7. Thru all the confusion of the PAC, including media rights, expansion et al....... One thing has been constant since day one. There would be no expansion invites until the media rights contracts are signed and completed. Even on the OBDF, we have gone from SDSU/SMU have been invited to somehow the PAC has withdrawn their invites..... . Maybe I missed a article or a PAC 10 statement that announced this but i fear we are getting off course here. Neither school has received an invite. The PAC Presidents gave GK permission to explore expansion possibilities with 4 schools. Explore but no invites.......... If i missed the official invites can someone please direct me to the srticle or statement. I refuse to worry about something that doesnt exist, at this point. Too much doom and gloom going around when in fact we should be dancing in the streets over DL and staff's monster 2024 class. GO DUCKS........
  8. I am not sure that I agree that SDSU botched this big time......theres nothing wrong with exploring your options or seeing if a 30 day extension on exit fees could be arranged. Asking questions to get the answers you need is a wise course of action to take. Thats smart and prudent. Its also okay for the MWC to play hardball with SDSU. Though i feel that the MWC may suffer in the court of public opinion for being petty. No one in the minor leagues should be petty or bitter when soneone gets called up to the major league. SDSU is simply a victim of timing. They were up against a hard deadline. Also they have not received a formal invite but obviously were hanging on what info GK was giving them. In business things dont always work out as planned. You shift gears, adjust and move forward. Nothing changes for SDSU or SMU if they dont get an invite to the PAC for the 2024 season. Nothing changes for the PAC10. Fox, Big, usuck and uclasuck dealt the cards and the PAC has to play the hand that was dealt. Remember the PAC10 has nothing to offer prospective new members until they have a media rights or streaming rights package. You cant give or offer what you dont have. Good things usually happen to those who wait patiently for events to unfold. Patience OBDF members and maybe just a little less doom and gloom. The PAC is entering into the unknown for CF if in fact streaming the games is a reality. Give it time to develope and unfold. Let the facts come out and then we can discuss and share our opinions. Its a great time to be a Duck and its time to bring home a Natty......
  9. Happy Birthday Charles...... Happy Birthday Haywarduck..... Happy Birthday America...... Enjoy the dsy and to all a fun and safe 4th of July.......
  10. Seriously? Double seriously?? Absolutely void of a named source or quote from an in the room source! If no agreement was going to be struck the first to know would be GK and the comittee of 3 Presidents. First, the announcement would come from GK and the PAC 12 Conference. Not the clowns! Second the,Trojan Wire would be shouting from the highest rooftops basking in the destruction of the PAC10. I truly hate the usucks... Third, at least 1 President would have spilled the beans. Its just human nature. Fourth, the 4 corner schools would be celebrating the 4th of July in BIG12 country looking to close a deal. Has 1 President of the 4 corners made any profound, definitive announcement? And i agree with Charles! I will stick with Canzano and add Wilner to that list. They have PAC 10 insider connections and both would have published articles on this......today! Of course, we are all entitled to our feelings and opinions. Its the strength and backbone of OBDF... Want my opinion? It has no named sources, no attention seeking, click bait driven, fantasyland facts... Just this: If this is how the deal goes down then i will be one of the first to subscribe. The PAC 10 will have my support. There is no doomsday scenario on this, no matter how many people want to drive the negative. Consider this: The PAC10 is the only P5 Conference who can chart their own course. They can forge new ground. If the Networks move to streaming, well the PAC12 Network is a network. Its all dressed up and ready to broadcast, so why cant they move to a streaming subscription? Consider this: The networks need Friday and Saturday night broadcasting content. Its how the networks make money. Televising content that draws millions of fans and millions of dollars from advertisers. What could any network broadcast that would make them more money than PAC 10 CF? If in fact, our Ducks have the 7th largest following then that means millions of fans. Why wouldnt they subscribe to a PAC10 streaming service? Guess it depends on your cup! Is it half empty or half full? Forum members have a safe and fun 4th of July. Independence is a beautiful thing.......
  11. Thanks Charles for the article. Your breakdown and analysis was on the money...... I agree with you that DL has used the portal to bring those "Freaks" in for this season. The experience and talent will be on the field for our Ducks D in 2023. Much of DL's defensive schemes require that the players Trust each other. Trust that each player will fulfill their assignment. How quickly the players gel together and build that trust will tell the 2023 story for our Ducks defense...... This unit should fit the Create Chaos Scheme better than the 2022 unit. More sacks, TFL's and turnovers ahould be the result. If this unit gets off the field on 3rd/4th down even 30% more than last year then OBD's offense will have more opportunities to blow games wide open or run out the clock. Result being more WINS... Can't wait for the season to start and see how the Freaks help lead the Ducks to a PAC title and CFP appearance. GO DUCKS......
  12. Truly, it is difficult to tell what is going on with the PAC Conference at this time........ My thoughts, for as little as they are worth, are that NO FINAL DEAL is in place for the conference members to agree on and sign. SDSU was in a difficult spot and had to stay put for now. I foolishly got my hopes up when SDSU requested an extension. They would not have done that without some sort of information or knowledge about a deal. Their legal counsel would have needed something to hang their hat on to send that request to the MWC. As a fan/donor/fool I am embarrassed by the action/non action by the PAC. For goodness sakes we are not dealing with trade secrets or world changing events. WTH...... SDSU, may have jumped the gun on the extension request letter and thats on them. However, GK and the 10 dwarfs need to treat their fans and potential partners better. It is good business to treat others as you would like to be treated. Maybe someday we will know the back story to this on going no story. For goodness sakes act better than usc and ucla. They are not the denominator of behaviour i would aspire to.........
  13. Thanks for all the posters for these articles. Nice to see some folks can look at this media rights negotiations with their cup half full. Who knows what is truth, fact or fiction........ As usual no names of those in the room are listed as sources. However, i must admit, I did get excited about the possibilities of a very diverse media deal with better money than the big12.... To me there are only 4 constants that are facts and feel free to share your constants: 1. Today is Thursday, June 29th, 2023. 2. Nobody knows except those in the room. 3. The PAC 10 has no annoumced media deal. 4.College football is profitable as broadcast content for the media presenters. The more content(games) the more money.... Go Ducks...........
  14. Well, wow! Dont know enough about any of these young, talented freshmen, at this point. I hope they all push the veteran starters to the top of their game. This simply makes our Ducks better. Was refreshing to hear someone say something positive about our Ducks, especially about actual football. Go Ducks........
  15. To keep the 2024 recruiting class in the Top 10, DL and staff may need a few 5☆ players to committ. Brandon Baker would make a great start............ Hopefully the first of a handful of 5☆ in the 2024 class. At some point, DL and staff will have assembled the talent and depth to finish a season with a Natty. GO DUCKS.......
  16. David, thank you for reposting yours and Charles articles. Great analysis and breakdowns by both of you. Thanks to all of the writers and posters. You all make this site so special....... GO DUCKS.... GO OBDF......
  17. Last year, under Dilly, the Ducks offense sustained multiple play drives to take time off the clock. This pattern reduced the number of plays left for the Ducks opponents. I remember, during the ucla game, the network showed a worried Chip Kelley on the sidelines. It was past the mid point in the 4th quarter. The analyst commented that CK was realizing the Ducks had reduced his offenses opportunities to run enough plays to catch up. The Ducks best defense in 2022 was the Duck offense of 2022 being on the field. I dont feel that will be the case in 2023. However, time consuming, 14 play drives through out the TT game can reduce the number of plays the TT offense can run. Keeping TT under 65 plays and the Duck D getting off the field on 3rd down should go a long way toward victory. Of course thats how Dilly ran the 2022 offense. Stein may not....... GO DUCKS........
  18. Bama vs,Texas kickoff at 6:00 pm on ESPN. Big time game, prime time kickoff. This provides FOX good windows to broadcast the Oregon vs TT game and not butt up against the blue blood matchup. Just the thought of actual football is so exciting. GO DUCKS!
  19. Yeah JJ, you are probably correct on that number. Depends what the kick off/broadcast window is...... Bama vs Texas game could be a blow out. Texas cant even win the BIG 12 so they may find the Tide a bit tougher to handle. Gonna be a fun day of football for us fans. A UT and TT loss could set the BIG12 perception back on a national level. Victories by UT and TT and their conference will be in the thick of the CFP conversation going forward.
  20. TT will give the Ducks all they can handle in Lubbock. On the other hand the Ducks will give TT all they can handle, too. Should be a great game and draw more than 4 million viewers. The bench mark of baloney shoveled by self serving networks to determine who has value or not for their interests. The Duck D will need to gel very early this fall. A Duck victory may very well depend on a critical stop or turnover by the D. TS's experience will allow him to exploit any missed assignments or blown coverages. TS is not a quick, mobile QB and should be running and scrambling all day away from the Duck front 7. Many on the national scene dont see this as a big time matchup. Just more shoveled baloney. This is a critical game for the Ducks. A loss would narrow the Ducks path to the CFP. The margin of error will be reduced to ZERO. I expect the D to rise to the level of the 2019 squad and throttle TT. This is a statement game for both teams and offers BN a national audience in his march toward the Heisman. Lets play some ball ...... GO DUCKS!
  21. Couple of thoughts: Finebaum is an SEC honk, plain and simple. His comments have no value. Weigh and measure after the PAC's new media deal is in place. As much as I like having TCU and BYU in the PAC remember our 12 Presidents, some with hidden agendas, rejected those schools. It will take a boat load of money to shift that tide........
  22. Great comments and replies by everyone. Thanks Charles and JJ, would love to see a merger but would not want a merger that caused either conference to lose one seat at the table. You dont have to have the cross conference games count as a conference game. However, it makes them more compelling. Consider this that very few ACC fans, if any are watching Stanford play Colorado. Hec, i dont even watch it...... And how many PAC fans watch Duke play NC State? But both fan bases will watch Duke vs Stanford. Oregon would not be playing Clrmson or FSU every year. Maybe every 5 or 6 years. But these games are a mutual benefit for both conferences to build new rivalries and build there respective brands. Sure is a better benefit than play most BIG12 teams. To me the ACC and PAC have a chance to do something special together. Try it out, run it around the block for 4 or 5 years. Make yourself relevant and more watchable. 12Duck72, thanks for your thoughts and i agree that the PAC leadership decision making is terrible. It has left us in a very vulnerable position. How the PAC looks 5 years from now is up to that leadership. Quality decisions matter. I would be more than satisfied if the media rights agreement comes at the last possible moment...... As long as its the right medis contract for the PAC and our Ducks. GO DUCKS.... GO OBDF........
  23. JJ, i like your strong stance about better OOC scheduling. Let me up the anti just a bit. Just for the sake of discussion and out the box thinking. Some of this has been discussed on the Forum before. How about a merger with the ACC in scheduling. Each ACC team travels west to play one game against the PAC and each PAC team travels east to play an ACC game. And they count as a conference game. If UW played Clemson, FSU played Oregon, WSU played Miami or OSU played UNC, I believe those matchups would draw more eyeballs than OSU vs AU. Eye balls command top media dollars. Turn the tables on the networks. There is value and strength in numbers. As in all things, there would be naysayers and problems to work out. But the best way to not be at the mercy of Fox, SEC and BIG is to become your own super conference. Keep the ACC and PAC separate so you have 2 CFP qualifiers. Shape your own future or let someone else do it for you.
  24. NJ Duck thanks for finding and posting this next update on SDSU and the MWC. Sure appreciate the time and effort you and P Duck put into posting. 12Duck72, you are spot on that the MWC should reject SDSU offer for a 30 day extension. In SDSU's defense, well it doesn't hurt to ask. In response to your question, how long do you hold onto a dying conference? I would ask why do you or any other Forum members feel the PAC is dying? Is it: Just because we lost the LA TV Market or don't have a new media rights deal in place? Or is it something else? Not diagreeing with you just really want to hear that side of the arguement. Its a great discussion point...... IMHO, You know every other conference has survived, to this point, without usc and ucla as members......and the PAC will too. The PAC will send a team to the CFP every year while usc has diminshed their odds and ucla now has no shot at a CFP appearamce. UA, ASU, Colorado, CAL, WSU and OSU's chances to get to yhe PAC Title game greatly improved with usc and ucla departing. Thats a good thing. The BIG12 took the UT/OU loss in stride, took the PAC merger decline in stride and then added 4 new members. They will survive and prosper. They will send a team to the CFP every year while OU and UT diminished their chances. Another question I have in response to for alot of us, you pull the trigger sooner rather than later when the chaos happens..... What chaos is happening and what would pulling the trigger mean? Oregon has not been invited to the BIG presently or in the future. If FOX or the BIG wanted the Ducks they would be moving now. What would you have the Ducks or PAC members do if the trigger was pulled? My opinion is that sticking together, digging in their heels and making solid business decisions is the PAC's best course of action. Their will be a media rights deal because the PAC provides after 6 pm football content. That has value to the networks/streamers because football is profitable. Broadcasting live football games is very profitable. I agree thst 2 conferences and 1 network want all the money and control. The only thing stopping them is they dont have Clemson, UNC, FSU, UNC, UW, Oregon and the kingpin, Notre Dame. Those schools now control the future of college football. Their decisions to chase the money may very well break CF as we now know it. Looking forward to all the answers and comments. Its a great day to be a Duck and I am bery happy about it. Have a great saturday.....
  25. This great Forum certainly has many varied opinions on PAC expansion. Different viewpoints and opinions make for good discussions. At this point one guess is as good as another. Excited for SDSU announcing their intent to leave the MWC. They have taken the steps and invested the money to position themselves to move to a P-5 Conference. I hope they land in the PAC. Presense and perception matter. 4 & 5 star athletes will drive down from the LA Basin to be on the sidelines when the Ducks play SDSU. Unfortuneately that will not happen every year.... AU, ASU and Utah made the jump to P5 and SDSU can too. Their football brand will grow and they will get their share of SoCal stars. Good things will happen for the PAC and SDSU. A trip to San Diego in October/November will be a treat for Duck fans as we fill the Snapdragon. As for SMU.....not much chatter about SMU after GK's visit. So who knows that status...... How a school is perceived today is not how they will be perceived as a PAC Member. If SMU is 7-3 and Oregon, Utah or UW come to town, DFW will be rocking and Texas football fans will watch. They will... Oregon draws the 8 to 10 year old fans who dream of playing for the Ducks. Some of those youngsters will fall in love with SMU, too..... Honestly, SMU has no chance or very slim, at a CFP invite in their present situation. Their die hard fans support them. In the PAC, they can build their program with $30 million annually. Much more than they receive now. They have a shot at a CFP appearance. Texas fans will watch and support SMU if that happens. Especially when UT and TA&M are not in the CFP. Georgia, Bama and LSU are not going to roll over for UT or OU. The biggest plus with SMU is it adds TV inventory in the central time zone. The PAC needs inventory to sell to their Media partners. 6 teams in the PST and 4 in the MST is not enough inventory. I know we all love our Ducks but the PAC does not have a lot of glamour games to broadcast. Fresh matchups and a PAC broadcast at 2 central, noon pacific could be appealing. SMU at OSU at 5 pst and 7 cst wont have a lot of Texas game competition. Texans will watch. None of the PAC or BIG 12 games will be able to compete against a 5 pm pacific, 8 pm eastern if tOSU is playing usc. Or Bama vs Texas. Those games are big time. The PAC would need to schedule with vision and smarts. Dont go head to head. Football is regional so make the most of those matchups. Sometime before week zero in 2024 the PAC will have a media package in place and maybe a few new teams to showcase. But one thing is certain, the Ducks will be fielding back to back top 10 recruiting classes and NFL ready portal transfers. The kind of team that can go deep in the CFP and bring home $60 million plus in playoff money....... And hopefully a Natty.......
