  1. What little respect i had for the PAC is gone. It's understandable for rats to abandon a sinking ship. Survival! But these rats are despicable. Especially the one who wanted to eat two of the survivors. This was a rudderless group of arrogant, pompeous know it alls. The PAC 12 has been entrusted for years by people who simply could care less. It shows in the final outcome.
  2. Charles thanks for the analysis and breakdown on this play. The screen shota were fantastic and they illustrate the confusion this D formation can cause a QB. Especially to a young inexperienced QB. Not knowing where the blitz or pressure will come from creates QB happy feet or panic. Dorlus played the position correctly and broke up the play. Discipline to your assignment is critical because the PAC, top to bottom, has a line up of future NFL QB's. The screen shot and live play also show us how impotant speed plays in causing havoc. If the blitzers ran a 4.3 or 4.4 instead of 4 5 or 4.6 they would have hands on the NC QB..... Or forced a scramble....... DL and staff have recruited some fast defenders in the 23 and 24 classes. Including the freaks. GO DUCKS.........
  3. We could consider that it may have come down to linear exposure for the athletes. And what that exposure or lack of exposure would have done to future recruiting. Maybe not think in terms of the money offered but in the terms of lost 4 and 5☆ recruits over a 6 year term. As we are starting to hear, one of USC's reason for leaving was to gain a recruiting advantage in SoCal over the Ducks. (Come to USC and you will be on national TV, virtually every game. Playing against some powerhouse schools, CFP appearances and not looking for your family and friends to buy a streaming subscription.) If OBD's lost 1 to 2 blue chippers, each year, over a 6 year period that would be a significant reduction in quality and depth. They wouldnt have all gone to usuck but our dominance over usuck could have been diminshed. Also, if streaming becomes the dominant number, FOX will move more content into streaming. I cannot stress the importance of being a part of a conference and network that will be a dominant player going forward. The money will not be a concern going forward in the BIG. Our Ducks will be on national tv and with some better kick off times. What's more important than the money is being able to compete and win against 17 other BIG Conference teams. Some, whose squads are in the Top 5. Winning the BIG, making the CFP and winning a Natty takes TOP 5 recruiting classes. Year in and year out. Nothing but 4 and 5☆ athletes that fill DL's vision. I ask the Forum which direction will lead us there? Playing and winning on National TV against tOSU, UM, PSU, usc, IOWA, WHISKY, MSU, ucla and UW. Or streaming games, that viewership numbers are not certain, against Stanford, WSU etc? This FOX/BIG deal was done a few weeks back as a contingent plan. It happened too fast to not have the leg work done. Love this Forum but i for one want to look forward and not backwards. GO DUCKS.......
  4. There is no pressure on the P4 and MWC to get this done quickly. They wont have the media, other conferences and outside aoutces trying to undermine their plans. Let the laywers take care of the legal matters for this to take place. Start negotiations with ESPN, CW and Apple. Maybe Tuesday/Wednesday on CW Apple on Friday after Dark and Satuday day games. ESPN Saturday after dark. If they can get 10 - 15 million a year this can work. Bring in SMU and Tulane. More games equals more content. Personally, its a bad break for the remaining P4 teams but they can and will carve out their future. Best advice or word of caution: Dont let GK do your negotiating. Goodness gracious the PAC has sure had some terrible commissioners.........
  5. Please no more big time games. Depending on scheduling we could have games against 4 to 7 top 25 teams. The Ducks will have nothing to prove in their OOC games. Schedule 2 or 3 home games that allow the backups valuable playing time. Its a whole new world. We are no longer (in 2024) in a conference that lacked respect that needed a big time game dor SOS. We just got invited ro be a member of the BIG. Some years the schedule will be brutal. Georgia, BAMA and LSU have plenty of cupcakes on their schedules. They win Natty's.
  6. I certainly have no knowledge or understanding of the BIG's scheduling plan. That universe centers around tOSU, UM and PSU. They are the true powers in that world. All 4 new schools will need to perform at a high level and earn respect with victories. Having those 4 schools play each other annually leaves 6 more conference games to be scheduled. Three trips east at the max for the 4 west coast newbies. Three east schools head west. That would be per team. However, we have not been privy to how our new big partners feel about their end of the travel schedule. Some one will figure it out, create the schedule and try to make it as equitable as possible. We just have to, as fans, turn on our viewing devices and enjoy this new journey.
  7. That makes sense on many levels. As many have asked, including myself; Why would a media company that is entirely a "SPORTS BROADCASTING NETWORK" not want P5 football content? Those "wankers" at ESPN wanted it all along. My intuition tells me that once GK and the presidents demanded near $50 milluon per school during the open window that FOX and ESPN left those negotations knowing the PAC had no place to go Time was on the medias side. Also FOX has plenty of content to sell ESPN to cover costs or make a profit. Some of the west coast BIG games may end up at 7 pm pst.
  8. Its a long time until Dec early signing day. We all know that DL and staff have not and will not stop building their relationship with recruits who have verbally committed elsewhere No more worry on what conference the Ducks will be playing in. A Top level 4 and 5☆ recruits no longer have to worry about being seen on national TV in one of many spectacular Duck uniforms. I am confident that GK's slow play, no hurry approach to a media deal cost the Ducks a few recruits. Also, on the surface it appears the road to the CFP will be more challenging in the BIG. However a 10-2 or 11-2 record in the PAC did not come with an automatic CFP invite unless you were PAC champs. In the BIG, finish 3rd at 10-2, with closes losses to tOSU and UM will probably get you an Invite. WHY? Because you will have beat usc, ucla, uw and maybe Iowa or Whisky or Nebraska in that year. The schedule will matter a great deal and major Duck games will be on national tv and recruits will be watching. Can you imagine a 10-1 Duck team playing a 9-2 husky team the day after Thanksgiving? 4 pm pst kickoff with FOX and the BIG network promoting it. BIG TIME OBDF.... I know many would prefer OSU vs Ducks on that day. However, let this sink in, the Beavs are not a conference opponent anymore. My guess is FOX and our BIG Conference partners will come to view UO vs uw as the last gane rivalry, just like tOSU vs Michigan or usuck vs uclasuck. The future for the DUCKS is the BIG.. ..GO DUCKS!
  9. This is priceless and just one of the perks that comes with being invited into the BIG. usuck and their fans are the gift that just keeps on giving. Now this will be an annual gift. The one poster was right on. It truly was 2 outs, bottom of the nineth and a 0-2 count. I will be humble and thankful for the invite. It brought the best outcome to a difficult situation. The one poster needs to get a refund from usuck or whatever school he was educated at. Especially if he is a math major. With 3 games against the 3 old PAC opponents and three OOC conference games we will be lucky to face 3 BIG opponents? WTH... Does that add up to 12? He/she is so upset that addition is lost to his/her mind. Guess they will have to wait until the schedule comes out and discover the other 3 games will be conferences matchups with BIG teams. PRICELESS.........
  10. As I have read and listened to comments from officials and coaches from Stanford, Cal, OSU and WSU, as well as the pundits, a few meaningless thoughts, to share. i take exception to their criticism of Oregon and UW destroying the conference for more money. That ball got rolling by usuck and uclasuck. From that point on the 10 presidents and GK made repeated business mistakes that put them in this dire situation. They all did this....... As for money, the Apple offer was a low ball smack in the face to ALL PAC members. If you want to grow a sports broadcasting network, then pay the entertainers. Apple misread the room. They did not anticipate the BIG invite for the 2 PAC anchors. End of story..... However, lets flip this lazy, whining narrative by CAL, Stanford, WSU and OSU around. Many of you wont like this, so here goes. Those 4 schools brought very little dollar value to the table. They have done well with the $20 milluon per year under the current linear contract. Apple offered $20 million, plus incentives. With less immediate exposure. That money worked for those 4 schools. Not for others Those schools want UO and UW to take less money and get less exposure. And cast guilt on those schools for destroying the PAC. That's BS. A load of BS. Dont tell me its about greed and money you 2 faces hypocrits.... You want the $20 million so you dont have to take $4 million in the MWC........ Its okay that UO and uw get undervalued for their brand so you dont have to take less. Shut the hec up and get busy fixing the mess you are in. You have options with the MWC, expansion invites, Apple, CW and espn. Instead of riding coattails build your brands or shut the hec up ......
  11. JJ, it was refreshing to watch and listen to the positive view of the Ducks on the BIG Network........ No negative, no talking down and zero east coast bias toward the Ducks. The announcers and their guests were genuinely excited about both brands being added to the conference. With the addition of the 4 west coast schools and their media markets the BIG is and will be the strongest Coast to Coast Conference in CF. With a network in place that reaches millions more viewers for OBD's. Doesnt matter if BIG fans love us or hate us. Millions more will be watching..... GO DUCKS........
  12. The G5 Big 12 Commish has openly bragged that he wants a West Coast presence Now he can put his money where his mouth is........ The Beavs and Cougs have ready made P5 Programs that can compete in their conference. They could provide ESPN with Little Big After Dark Games. It is a very dangerous game playing the Beavs and Cougs after 7 pm. I have great respect for both programs. Hope it works out for both schools.
  13. Well usc, ucla and uw will have the same travel situation. Thus the playing field is equal for the 4 west coast schools joining the BIG..... usc and ucla will no longer have a recruiting edge over OBD's... The only difference is the massive increase in exposure for all 4 schools. The BIG Network viewership dwarfs the reach of the P-12 Networks. Watched the BIG Network for hours tonight. Its high quality and top notch. National pundits and sports broadcasters were talking positive about the Ducks and huskies. Starting in 2024 more 8 year olds across the country will be watching OBD's each season for years to come. Recruits all over the country will watch our Ducks on linear TV in those seasons we play tOSU, PSU, MSU, Michigan, Iowa, Whisky! As well as usc, ucla and uw. Autzen fans will have some powerhouse games to attend each season. The TV pregame hosts and game announcers will not be talking down our Ducks. Recruits will be watching and attending some of those games. And OBD's have some of the best recruiters in CF. Not to mention a head coach building a Georgia/SEC defense. More exposure means more freaks watching the Ducks. That bodes well...... GO DUCKS!
  14. Goodness, glad I have the BIG 10 Network. So much fun to hear positive words about the Ducks and huskies. BIG announcers are excited about adding 2 Top 25 Media markets. And excited about the 4 West Coast teams. GO DUCKS........
  15. Granted their will be many varied opinions on this subject, including mine. Many will nit pic the details and the optics, thats okay...... Congratulations to the U of O for this excellant move to sit at the big table. No uncertainty of the future for athletics. The future of CF and the CFP runs thru the BIG and SEC. No matter the decisions we are now part of the decision making process. Linear exposure at the highest level will enhance recruiting for our Ducks. So many pro's..... Now we can continue our DOMINANCE of uw, usc and ucla. And take the program to the highest level climbing over tOSU, Michigan and Penn State. The BIG took a giant leap forward with best of the west. And our Ducks did too. Now lets win a Natty for PK and the fans. The icing on the cake is foiling usc's back stabbing plans....... Holy moly, glad this old chapter is ending and the big time is upon us. Now the talking heads at FOX, ABC and others have no reason to talk us down. GO DUCKS.......
  16. JCar thanks for posting your thoughts in OBDF. All point of views are welcome, so post often. The road to the playoff will be more difficult in the BIG. Having to beat or wrestle away a CFP spot from tOSU, Michigan, Penn State and the POS entitled Trojans would be a greater challenge than being in the G5 Big 12. However, the Ducks would have to beat any of these teams in the CFP match ups anyway. The annual pay, linear exposure, better kickoff times and a level recruiting field against usc as a BIG member has more appeal than being in the big 12. Thats just my viewpoint. Others on this Forum want the PAC to hold together while some like the Big 12. However nobody has invited us anywhere other than Apple. What would yoir preference be?
  17. The angst of the self centered Trojan fan is the gift that keeps on giving. The very things they accuse the Ducks of doing is what they did to the PAC. Its just priceless..... All the Trojans had to say to GK, right up front was that they would not agree or sign a GOR without unequal distribution. Let GK know that LS had ignored their concerns and it must be addressed. Its about honesty and integrity and they have none.
  18. This,Forum simply rocks... The passion, diversity of thoughts and range of vision make this such a great place. And its a safe, protected space... The topics of a media deal and expansion has my head spinning and on the verge of a meltdown. Its great to be alive and part of all this speed of light movement evolving around the media deal. GK has said from the beginning, the very beginning that the next PAC media deal would have a substantial streaming presence. We all shared our thoughts on who that would be. Apple put enough out on the table for GK to lay out the vision. Good for them...... They are a forward thinking company and a good partner for the PAC moving into the future. GK also said that he wanted a linear presense. As of today that linear network has not come front and center. Many, myself included, thought ESPN would take PAC After Dark games. So far thats a big no.... As is human nature we have Forum members going back and forth about adding or not adding another subscription. Well keep this in mind, you cable subscribers will have to add a subscription if you want all of ESPN's content within a few years. Cord cutters, too. If the PAC takes the offer from Apple we have a choice to subscribe or not. But the PAC will taken the plunge as a P5 Conference. So here we are, a few days removed and nobody has left the conference, yet.... We heard from GK and the CEO Committee that the longer this drags on that the better the options have become for the PAC. i wonder what those options are and are they still on the table as options. The PAC has 3 options, IMHO! Hope to get low ball offer from the BIG but know large money is on the horizon with eventual full shares. They will have to go over/thru tOSU, Michigan, Penn State and USC for one of 3 invites to the CFP.... A BIG Western Division could provide less travel. Maybe 2 or 3 games back east each season. Maybe $35-$40 million Or they get an even lower option invite from the little league Big 12 conference for even less money. Maybe $31.7 million.Be the Power Brand and make CFP 3 out of 4 years. I they get no invite but go with Apple, keep the PAC's core and roll the dice. Position yourself for the next round of expansion, keep your greatest rivals and make annual CFP appearances. And know that linear broadcasts will be reserved for the big games. And streaming may dominate. I suppose it will be the course that meets Oregons goals. On an average day, I interact with about 75 to hundred people. Most under 30 years old. They are the future. Guess what phone they have? I can tell you its not an Android. If apple chooses to advertise the Pac big time, remember milluons of teenagers are on their I-Phones every minute of everyday. The future snook up fast. Imagine where we be in 5 years.......
  19. It baffles ne that ESPN is willing to let the West Coast TV market slip away. If Stanford, CAL, uw and Oregon move to BIG then FOX controls the 4:00 to 7:00 pm pst broadcasts. If ESPN had come to the table with 9 million or more for PAC After Dark on top of the Apple offer, then the PAC would survive the next 4 or 5 years. Something is not right with all this! How can sports broadcasters not want the media rights for 3 or 4 Top 25 Brands. Does this baffle anyone else?
  20. Remember, last year when usc and ucla announced the 2024 move, a number of BIG Presidents were asked why they didnt take more PAC 12 schools? The reply was they didnt want to be directly resonsible for destroying the PAC 12 Conference. I dont think any of us imagined rhat FOX and ESPN would shut the PAC out of linear TV. There was no reason for GK to know that. Both FOX and ESPN are getting the PAC on their terms. They are business partners with the BIG 12! The Big 12 Commish is agressive because he has the linear money behind him. It is what it is! Remember ESPN offered $90 million for PAC After Dark games. Where Is that offer now? This is orchestrated by vultures who are circling for the kill. Good chance our Ducks will be making long distant road trips in the future......
  21. Couple ot items: 1. Cable lost almost 6 million subscribers in 2022. The number is expected to be higher in 2023. The cost of cable, to suffer thru endless, mindless commercials is too high. Not to mention paying for 1000 plus channels that you dont want. 2. My wife told me she was cutting the chord on our $371.00 cable bill. We analyzed that we watched about 15 or less channels on cable. We watched Amazon, Netflicks and HULU and paid separate for their services. Thankfully, Charles suggested she wait until February to cut the chord. That way i could have CF thru the Natty. She agreed when i offered to pay all the monthly bill Come the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday, cable is gone. Fox, FS1 and ESPN will be gone and not receive our dollars. We add Apple to our other sibscriptions, along with our wifi/internet and be under $135 a month. Yes there are downfalls to the PAC being streamed. However you will be paying a streaming fee for ESPN within 5 years. Thats where ACC, SEC and G5-B12 will be also. How many of yoi have sent an email to ESPN and FOX to express your disappointment in their shut out of the PAC? How many of you have emailed them to let them know you will boycott their 2024 advertisers? You vote with your dollars! You can subscribe to Apple and boycott the cables advertisers. Or you can support them. For me, and not anyone else, my wife decided. Gosh I am a lucky, happy Duck
  22. One of my longtime business associates, who hates the PAC, especially the Ducks and Huskies, called me to say that he thought the move to streaming was a good start for the PAC I told him to blow it out his ear hole and asked why? Especially that i wanted linear exposure He asked me if I had forgotten our basic business school lessons from the 60's and 70's? (Dinosaurs) He said to me, none of the linear players, who refused Tier 1 rights could or would negotiate until they knew what inventory content was available to bid on They didnt know if SDSU, SMU, CSU, UNLV, Tulane, BSU or any other school would be invited to the PAC. Time zones and content is a negotiating factor in the new world of CF. If the streaming deal gets done then the PAC can expand and take their content to market. Basic business 101. He, as usual, is right. Thats why he is a billionaire investor and i still work for my living. Let's see how this plays out. The PAC leadership has to have a Tier 1 Media Deal in place to keep moving forward. Also lets say Apple charges $10 per month. 4 million subscribers added is $40 million a month. That pencils out If you dont want to subscribe, dont.
  23. FYI: OBDF members In reading articles from CBS Sports, SLC Tribune, USA, Peter Thamel ESPN, Yahoo Sports..... ■ The potential deal is streaming centric. With Apple being mentioned but not confirmed. ■ Incentive escalators for increase in subscribers. Thats a good sign in negotiations of any kind. 9 schools and the streamer working together to grow the PAC 9 Brand. ■ 2 different sources (in the room with names withheld) said the meeting was very positive and went well. Future meeting soon to hopefully come to final agreement. ■ Unclear if streamer was looking to bringvin linear partners or if the PAC would pursue that option ■ None, zero, absolutely no mention of money terms was disclosed to the media. I guess the know it all midwestern bloggers and media werent in the room ... This is a good step in the right direction. This is how negotiations work. Now the PAC leadership can come back with counter proposals or clarify concerns. Having recently gone thru 7 months of negotiations on our company merger, let me share with you this fact... ■ Every loose end detail, that the young, inexperienced people in the room were to ignorant or impatient to iron out has come back to bite us. Patience and a second dose of patience was needed ■ Who needs to listen to the dinosaur(with 45 years industry experience) in the room? I hope there are somr dinos in the room and not a bunch or chicken ....s like CU leadership. Consider this thought. This merger of schools (content) with streaming and linear partners is the first of its kind for college football. If you are standing on the bridge, hypothetically, ready to bail on the PAC, give this time to play out. Its a very good sign that there was enough meat on the bone for all 9 schools to want to meet again GO PAC! GO DUCKS.......
  24. We could imagine that all 9 schools had to go back to discuss the details of the potential of the deal. For example, how many of the games will be streamed, how many will be linear? Does the deal provide enough exposure? What will the fans monthly cost be to subscribe? Will their be combo packages to purchase? How many schools will the PAC need to add to provide viewing content? Will the dollar amount increase with more inventory? I have to remind myself that this is the first of its kind deal. A,streamer having Tier 1 rights....... Lot's to digest....this could be a 7 course deal! If UA regents vote to leave the PAC then we know the deal may be short on revenue. Its amazing that nothing so far has leaked from the meeting? Cant wait for the know it all BIG, SEC and G5 big bloggers to give us the numbers.... GO DUCKS..........
  25. It's amazing to me how far down the rabbit hole we as fans can go. Especially on rumors....... If you want more negative then dont read this post. You will be disappointed. I respect your feelings and posts. Its good therapy to get it off your chest. We all need it. Here's my rumor for the Forum and it has as much validity as anyone elses. Its positive so proceed with caution..... The combined deal of Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights will come in between $28 and $34 million per year. With a 3% to 5% annual escalator. Tier 1 will be a streaming company. The goal for the streamer is to bring in new subscribers. The PAC should be rewarded annually for the number of subscribers brought in over a baseline. The PAC should receive a % of any advertising dollars that the streamer may eventually use. I have no problem with commercials as long as the entertainers are rewarded. And commercial times outs are no longer than 2 minutes. And no more than 1 forced TV time out per half. SPOILER ALERT: ESPN will be part of the package. They are a sports broadcaster and the PAC 9 has quality sports programming. I decided to take a breath and consider that ESPN would rather have OSU vs WSU on PAC After Dark than BSU vs USU. Its good business, very profitable and ESPN will not vacate a broadcasting staple. Besides they getting it for cheap ESPN will be at the table. Their offer of $9 million per school a year is way better than the $3 million per year each school received from the P-12 Network. PAC After Dark has worked out well for ESPN and the cash strapped company needs high value programming. The streamer will share/sell or simulcast the PAC'S high profile games. CBS has interest in broadcasting those games on National linear TV. All the PAC remaining 8 schools (ungrateful UA can get the hec out) need to do is keep investing and growing the product. Strive to send 2 of the 4 top 25 schools to the CFP. Then invite 2 quality schools that want to invest and grow their brands. You know Utah, UA and ASU were begging the PAC for invites to the big table. Utah grew their brand. You can decide about the Arizona schools. I am looking forward to seeing this unfold
