  1. DAZENCONFUSED..........WOW! That was a thorough, detailed explanation of the coverage options that Coach Lanning can throw at the little dogs. Thank you......... Getting pressure on and disrupting the timing for Penix is critical in this game. Moving Penix off his mark should creaye opportunities for sacks and turnovers. The little dogs can put up points. Everyime the Ducks defense stymies their offense good things will happen. The huskies will fall 7 more points behind and Bo and the O will chew valuable time off the clock. Happiness is seeing the little dogs hang their heads and slump yheir shoulders. Especially as the continue a great husky tradition. Losing to the Oregon Ducks......
  2. David, thanks, good article. Generated some good comments and thoughts from the Forum members. My thoughts on the TT subject are a bit mixed. Ty, i dont feel, has forgotten how to play football. He simply may not know to play football in Dilly's system. I try to remind myself that he is a true freshmen in this system. As is JB. Even experienced NFL QB's struggle in new systems. The athletic ability, the arm strength and competitiveness are still there. As many of the experienced coaches, on this Forum know, the lightbulb comes on at different times for different players. Hopefully, these young men don't get discouraged. It is on them to earn their playing time. However there is nothing to be discouraged about in losing out to Bo Nix. He came in with 30 plus games experience and was deep in the learning curve. I admire all the players who work hard for months to just get a few reps in a game. GO DUCKS! Kick some husky tail..
  3. DAZENCONFUSED, thank you for this well thought out, well organized and well explained article. The huskies can definitely score a bunch of points and they have a solid, experienced QB who can make NFL throws. Going to challenge our ever improving D for sure...... The huskies are 6-0 at home but just 1-2 on the road. They will definitely give the Ducks a hard fought game that may come down to the 4th quarter before its settled. If the Ducks can pressure Penix and disrupt his timing then interception opportunities will be there for the taking. A few sacks and a few turnovers by the Ducks D will have the huskies playing catch up all day. Going to be a wide open game and a big challenge for the Ducks. GO DUCKS........
  4. I think it is natural to think that Coach Lanning's name, just like Dilly's, won't pop up with a number of head coaching searches. It's okay and good for the coaches. Coach Lanning and staff picked up the Duck players after that brutal Georgia game and set them on the right course. The staff installed new systems (both sides of the ball) and developed the skills of the players. 8-1 and No.6 validates this. Just as we watch the games and progress of OBD's, well so do AD's at schools in need of a coach. The more success the more AD's will watch. It's part of big time college football. Auburn needs a HC in place ASAP......early signing day is in a matter of weeks. Do you really think Coach Lanning is available, anyway? This man is the type who finishes what he starts. Take your finger off the panic button. Auburn can pick from Hugh Freeze(Liberty), Matt Rhule, Bill O'Brien even Deon Sanders. No big buyouts on Hugh or Deon. Matt and Bill are available immediately. If Alabama was calling then I would be concerned. Just because Auburn plays football in Alabama, well they don't play football like Bama. The Tigers are a middle of the pack SEC team with a pretty thin cupboard. Boosters wont wait 3 or 4 years for a rebuild. Oregon will be playing in their 4th straight title game. And Coach Lanning and staff will be getting a nice pay raise. GO DUCKS! Beat the huskies....
  5. Its time to put it all together and no better place to start than the dogs from up North. 70 points is achievable for Bo and this offense. But to me it appears that Coach Lanning likes to run the clock out on you rather than run up the score. The look on Chip Kelleys face when he realized that he would not have enough possessions for his offense to catch the ducks.......priceless. Charles you are correct that the D and special teams, too would need to light up the scoreboard. GO DUCKS.......
  6. I love the Ducks and I drink as much Duck Homer Ground Fresh Kool-Aid as possible, however, the Ducks D has some solid "holes" in scheme and experience that Stetson and those tight end super freaks will exploit. As long as the Dawg D is on form then the Ducks will be playing from behind. That is not the Ducks strength. The Duck offense is impressive and piling up points against opponents with weaker defenses than the Dawgs. Hec, the Vols were piling up points, too.......until they faced the Dawgs and that nasty talented D. I hope our Ducks run the table. Their SOS the next 3 games far surpasses the 3 SEC cupcakes the Vols play. That should be enough to leap frog the Vols and whoever loses between UM vs tOSU. Then a win in the PAC title game against a top 10 ranked uscuck or uclasuck will propel the Ducks into the top 4. With a TCU loss Ducks could hit the top 3 spot. This Duck team can beat either tOSU or Michigan. If the Dawgs do their part then the Ducks will get the rematch in the Natty. That would be exciting, for sure. I just don't have to be excited about being the last team standing in the way of a Dawg repeat. It wont be like playing Colorado, Arizona or Stanford. It will be like playing the defending national champions......again! Make it happen Ducks and Dawgs!
  7. SoGaDawg, It was certainly nice to see the real Dawgs show up and play like they did against our Ducks. I am not saying The Dawgs played down to lesser competition. Let's say they brought their energy and A plus game to the Ducks and Vols game. Kirby probably has his hands full with some players getting complacent at times. However, as much as the Ducks have improved, well I am not looking forward to any rematch with The Dawgs. Our Defense will still have no answer for their offense. And I dont see the Ducks getting more than 24 points, if that much at all. GO DUCKS, GO DAWGS, just win them one game at a time.
  8. Jordan, as always, thank you for sharing your positive thoughts on our OBD's. I agree with you and many others that the Ducks have made a solid case for the CFP committee to put the Georgia beatdown im the rearview mirror. IMHO, Jordan, i believe when the 1st CFP rankings came out the committee already had felt the Ducks were a different, better and CFP worthy team. Placing the 1 loss Ducks just behind a 1 loss Bama spoke volumes. Now the SEC bias is the only thing that will hold the Ducks back. If the Vols and LSU are ranked higher than the Ducks on Tuesday night that may be telling. The CFP should have the rankings in this order. 1. Georgia 2. Michigan 3. tOSU 4. TCU (Go Texas) 5. Oregon 6. Tennessee 7. LSU However, the Vols and Tigers could be placed ahead of the Ducks, if the SEC bias prevents sacrilege by the Committee. We shall see. But what do I know? We are all just guessing, sharing and having fun. Nothing matters if the Ducks fail to pound the butt sniffing, leg lifting and prowess spouting huskies. GO DUCKS!
  9. I love the comments and ideas being presented in this thread. The passion for tradition and rivalry is strong in this Forim. Here's my pennys worth of opinion: This deal was made in secret with only usucks greed and recruiting future as the driving forces. If Oregon and UW were wanted by the BIG, well they would have been part of the discussion from the start. It might be difficult for some on this forum but the Ducks were not desired. I have a feeling that FOX Sports was behind this, too. They stole the SoCal market from ESPN, the PAC and all its fans. They are banking that all the West Coast fans will watch the 2 traitors in the prime time evening slots. My only interest in usuck and uclasuck is because they are in the PAC. That stops after next season. Wont be watching a,single game these 2 play unless its a matchup with PAC Members. You vote with your dollars (aka remote). SoCal fans are fair weather fans, so those 2 teams must win big to drive numbers. As for the PAC future? The networks have clearly stated the PAC's value. FOX is not interested. ESPN low balled the PAC. Then the wimpy, weeny left overs in the BIG 12 just set the bar lower. Time will tell. I am with Charles on this. Going to enjoy this year and next year. Then I will fully support the Ducks no matter what happens. GO DUCKS.........
  10. Fun piece Alan. Just a joy to read. One thing that the Buffs and huskies have in common....... A mythical national championship! It's not their fault that bowl contracts didnt allow the top 2 teams to settle it on the field. But still its as mythical as the Dragon in GOT.......... Not one Duck starter should see the field in the 2nd half. 42 to 49 first half points should do the trick. Its time to give TT and JB some fun playing time. And keep our starters healthy. GO DUCKS.........
  11. Love all the articles that Pennsylvania Duck amd NJDuck keep posting and sharing with this rocking Forum. Well done, great effort and thanks........ The only thing the Ducks control is how they prepare for and play each game. Thats it. As long as we decisively beat Colorado and little bro beats the huskies tonight then the Ducks will face 3 ranked teams out of their last 4 games. That sets up nice for SOS, nationally televised games and style points. Hoping the Ducks and usc win out. That way the PAC title game will be between 2 top 10 teams. I hate sc but they carry more cache than the Bruins. If the Bruins do beat sc they will most likely be ranked in top 10. No matter what the Ducks need to win one game at a time. Everything else does not matter and everything else is put of their control. I am enjoying the ride. How about you?
  12. The weather and temperature looks to be mild and dry. Of course, rocky mountsin weather can change fairly quickly. The Ducks have the depth(except QB) to play at altitude. So lets run up the score even with 2's and 3's getting plenty of 2nd half reps. Ducks 73-13 3 TO's 4 Sacks 402 yards passing Man that last glass of Duck homer kool-aid got me all pumped up. GO DUCKS! Take care of business..
  13. Not many schools make sense when the PAC considers expansion. However, SDSU does make sense. It is in the natural or geographic footprint of the PAC conference. SDSU provides a foundation and exposure in the talent rich socal region. The remaining 10 schools need exposure to the region. For example Utah needs a game in socal every other year where they can invite prospects. A 2 or 3 hour drive south to San Diego is doable for a top recruit and family to make on a Saturday for recruits. SoCal recruits need PAC games to watch Saturday night. The PAC cannot surrender that market to the BIG or BIG 12. SDSU makes about $4 million a year from the MWC media rights. So even a half share of PAC media rights for a few years is a big raise. A PAC invite makes more sense than SDSU joining the BIG 12. Much less travel. The real question is who would make the best travel partner for the Aztecs? The PAC business model is traveling in pairs.........
  14. In my life's experiences, I have found that often pride and money can interfere with good judgement. Now that the Bruins have made their decision to follow the back stabbers from ussuck, i fear that pride and money will cloud their judgement to the bitter end. Once most of us unzip the fly on something it is often difficult to reverse the course. The powers that be at ucla told one of their greatest ambassadors, its all about the money. I pray GK builds multiple media rights that bring enough of that driving force called money that our Ducks do not feel compelled to bolt from the PAC.
  15. Drex, thank you for the article and taking the time to round up those offensive efficiency stats. My props go out to what is arguably the Ducks best offensive line, maybe ever. They run block and the stats support they are #1 at pass protection. Yes Bo is reading the defensive sets and calling audibles and check downs. But they are giving Bo the time to go thru his progressions and the receivers time to get open. Then Bo is operating at a high level of execution. Fun to watch. Props to Dilly for solid game plans and in game adjustments. The diversity in play calling off just a few basic formations must be keeping opposing DC's up all night. IMHO, the committee will not hold the Georgia beatdown against the Ducks. It will help the Ducks, immensely if The Dawgs beat down Tennessee and finally play as well as they did against the Ducks. As long as OBD's win out the main reason they will miss the invite is because their are 6 undefeated teams and a one loss Bama ahead of them. There is a good chance that when the dust settles there will be 4 undefeated conference champions left standing. Probably wont happen, however if it does, the committee will not be considering the Ducks. All the Ducks can do now is beat Colorado and see if Georgia survives this weeks game sgainst the Vols. GO DUCKS!
  16. IMHO, Oregon needs Georgia more than Georgia needs Oregon. It would be very difficult for the CFP committee to ever place a one loss Oregon over a one loss defending National Champion. Especially after a 7 touchdown beatdown, head to head, on the field. The best result for Oregon is for Georgia to win out and then hand Bama or Ole Miss its 2nd loss of the season. Then a Clemson and TCU loss along the way to open up a spot or 2 for a Duck invite. However, lets not get too far ahead of the next game..... GO DUCKS! Beat Colorado....
  17. For that kind of money the Ducks should maybe head to the BIG......Now....... A few months back, ESPN valued the PAC 10 media rights at $300 million annually. Thats $30 mil, per season each school. Now remember, ESPN bases that figure on number of TV's. So a potential deal with Amazon, who needs sports content for 165 million USA Prime subscribers is only worth about $3-$4 million a year, per school. Something doesnt add up! Especially if Amazon wants and needs the PAC Network. A network with broadcast equipment, staffing for broadcasts, announcers, studio abnouncers and 12 years of broadcast history. WTH..... Now only a fraction of the 165 million subscribers will watch the PAC games. But still the price seems very low. Also the PAC has 3 National Brands. Oregon, and to a lesser degree, washington and Utah. Please, anyone on the Forum, tell me what existing or incoming schools in the BIG 12 has a bigger national brand that those 3 PAC teams.
  18. Pennsylvania Duck, thank you for taking the time to dig out all these Duck stats and accomplishments. Fun stuff to look over. Well done......... Now we need 4 of the teams ranked ahead of the Ducks to lose a game or 2. And Georgia to win out.. Go Ducks. Beat Colorado
  19. Charles, thanks for those stats. You have been the loudest voice in the room, during the MC years, that CFP teams score about 45 points a game. Since the butt whoopin in Georgia the Duck offensive machine is doing their part for a CFP invite. The O Line has been superb. They are as dominant a force as this years and last years Dawgs D. They deserve serious props...... The receiver group are blocking downfield, running effective roites and catching passes. Catching TD passes. The Duck running backs are hitting their holes, following blockers and making elusive adjustments. Yards after contact has been impressive. I really can't remember the last fumble? But to me what stands out is, unlike past teams, they are overcoming their mistakes. Whether its penalties or dropped passes they rally together and overcome. Look at how they rallied around Hutson's dropped TD pass. We all know how bad he felt! Some on this forum probably popped a vein in their neck or forehead. But not the coaches or players What a joy to watch this offense..... GO DUCKS!
  20. Potential or full potential being realized is very elusive and in many cases is unobtainable. However goals can be set and then achieved. Then new goals set and then, also, achieved....... Peaking early or too soon happens to the very best. Those who strive to improve, then set goals for improvement, work at that improvement to acheve their goals, rarely peak. They just reset and move forward. Those who say they can't, well can't. Those who quit, settle for less then self defeat. They peak far to soon. Dont see any quitters on this staff or player roster. Looking foward to the next level of improvement and achievement. GO DUCKS! Show us what your ceiling for achiement is........
  21. Oregon 56-13 3 turnovers 4 sacks 312 yards passing GO DUCKS!
  22. It's difficult to know where to start on this subject. Joey and the alums surely meant well. Whats frustrating is that Mullens took that as good advice. Nothing as sound as good intentions. WTH? So glad that Justin stayed at Cal. This forum would be losing its mind if this talented team was 3-4 or even 4-3. Mari no O just throttled the offense. Justin has no clue what a offense is....... While listening to Canzano last Monday about Wilcox it was brought up that Mullens and the powers that be told Wilcox they alrrady had his assistants lined up. There was no option for Wilcox. Canzano asked Wilcox if that was true. Wilcox said that someday he would sit down and tell that story. Telling? The real story is who brought Dan Lanning to Mullens attention? Who convinced Phil that Dan Lsnning was the right hire? Now that would be a good story. Tonight when I say my prayers I will thank God that Justin made the right decision. He may have saved the Ducks 2022 season and Mullens his job. GO DUCKS! Beat CAL......
  23. Great article Charles, i can imagine all your brain cells being burnt around the edges. And great insights, teachings and big time, world class comments by OBDF members. One of the best threads this season. Thanks to all. The forum has been a great and safe refuge for me during a very difficult time. A great escape. This one of a kind site just keeps getting better and better because of all of you.
  24. The Duck D would have to show dramatic improvement beyween now and any potentially CFP game. Dont get me wrong the defense has improved since the beat down in Georgia. However, what game since Georgia, has the Duck D played that leads us to believe yhey can hang with the real Dawgs? debbieduck makes some valid points....... The Ducks O would have to play a near perfect game. The Ducks moved the ball well but made critical and key mistakes in that game. Yes, they have rolled since that game. But against who? I believe the Ducks have the coaching leadership and improving player talent to go 12-1 and make the CFP....... When and if things fall in line our OBD's could get that Dawg rematch. But they will be facing the reigning National Chsmps and that will still be the real Dawg Defense on that field. And their O is filled with freakish skill players. I hope Bo gets his chance for a rematch, but Georgia 42 - Ducks 24. Honestly thst would make a great story and it would be a great season. GO DUCKS! Beat Cal........
  25. I can see how any of us would feel like CalBear95 does. So many words written and no substance. Feels like a waste of time. I dont think this is the case. The future lifeblood of the PAC 10 is and will be the next media rights deal. There is nothing more important for GK to work on. I wont spell out details because it is very complicated to merger multiple parties. Getting competeing factions to play along with the streaming future. Patience Duck fans. My son, who runs our company, has been working on a strategic merger with a competitor for most of 2022. They approached us and initial talks were sugar and Spice. As we got down to values, routing, customers and key personnel, it was obvious they needed us not the other way around. From that point on it was final details and then a contract. Lots of players involved. Each has a goal and set value. Takes time and we got some real clueless presidents with big egos. Goodcthings come to those who wait. At this point GK should have alot to say. But he wont. It may feel empty but it isnt. GO DUCKS.
