  1. 247 reports that two freshmen started, (Dak Moore & Brandon Finney) and 12 played, which is more than the one of last year!
  2. I recognize that some were probably held out due to nagging injuries, but the freshmen did not play very much like freshmen, IMHO. The speed and size of so many is incredibly impressive, and it is apparent that the last two recruiting classes had players that are going to jump players on the depth chart that have been here longer. I was very surprised to see a true freshman, (Dak Moore) AND a RS freshman in Jeremiah McClellan start at receiver. They jumped a ton of players such as transfer Malik Benson, and veterans such as Justius Lowe and Kyler Kasper. I was blown over seeing RS freshman DT Tionne Gray starting over Bear Alexander, and LB Jerry Mixon starting over Devon Jackson. (Held out because of injuries?) In the secondary--you could have knocked me over with a Duck Feather when true freshman Brandon Finney started at corner, joined by RS Freshmen Aaron Flowers and Ify Obidegwu in the secondary along with senior transfer from Ole Miss, Jadon Canady and Purdue transfer Dillon Thieneman. We saw true freshman Na'eem Offord play a ton, along with RS freshman Kingston Lopa. I did not expect to see this many, especially in the first half, and was impressed with how talented they are. I've never witnessed this much talent assembled at Oregon before...whew! That's not even counting the freshmen running backs...like Jordan Davison!
  3. Finebaum is probably in the fetal position under the kitchen table...
  4. That was a little tongue-in-cheek, as I thought the quarterbacking was superb. So far, Dante Moore is as good as we hoped...
  5. With a final score of 59-13, I see that CRL Ducks was only five points off with his/her prediction of 55-14 to win our first prediction contest of the year. I do not recall CRL Duck being a winner before, so my hearty congratulations. And my Duck-Buddies...it was so nice to see so many enter, and now that football season is here--to see so many familiar handle names back. The Gang's-All-Here! All Hail, "The Beast!"
  6. Let's take this discussion back out to the main forum again...
  7. Now we get to hear what the B1G announcers were hearing over the past week about Dante Moore's upside. I felt that in the Spring Game...he did not have the protection that he had for this game! Thoughts about the QBs?
  8. Fantastic blocks by WR Dak Moore in the running game that sprung Whittington for the big opening play, and Limar for the TD. I am pretty surprised to NOT see Makhi Hughes in the first series? We started a true freshman at WR, (Dak) and a RS Freshman WR in McClellan? Whew!
  9. Good gosh, I love our helmets! What a winner…
  10. Precisely right, and Ohio State almost blew it being to conservative, IMHO on their second to last drive. You gotta work as hard to finish the game as the other team is...
  11. Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! I have made a major change in how we will moderate our GameDay threads. Bottom line, is that you will be allowed to spew your frustration, to vent, as you wish. But Note the Parameters: --This is for GameDay threads only; you have to behave in the regular forum threads as in the past. --You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. Remember how we discussed this upfront in this thread. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!
  12. I am really curious to see how good the Ohio State trenches are this year, after the major reloading from last year.
  13. Is this the ONLY time I will cheer for the Buckeyes? Yep, and GO Big-10! Let's discuss that game in this thread...
  14. ...to be wearing Beavis attire. I don't get it... He seems like a swell guy.
  15. Rivals 4-Star, but a very good defensive tackle that we need...
  16. You know...it is really hard to stick to my own rules when I see some of the things that are written. So I will refrain, but offer some facts: Andy Staples for On3, and a similar ranking by The Athletic recently analyzed college Offensive Coordinators, and both ranked Will Stein as the No. 1 OC in the nation. (Click on link) Below is from the Big-10 Network Telecast of their visit to Oregon's Fall Camp. (Stein has been OC for the last two years) So over two years...he is ranked by numbers, and expert opinions to be No. 1 in the nation? Fans are never happy... (And we know better, right?)
  17. It can snow during the football season...
  18. Attending Nebraska during winter term.... What's Not to Like?
  19. Darren....I really enjoy your style of writing. Your title made me LOL as, "that is so Darren." Great fun, great thoughts, and THANKS.
  20. First misunderstanding from not reading the posts carefully! --You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. (I can feel it....in trying to give others an outlet for frustration--it is going to create more hassle for me)
  21. I was surprised when he decided to take that job, because he does have a tougher job in Lincoln, than a ton of other places. To answer your question...no, I do not think Nebraska will come back, as there are too many more attractive options for a college player, IMHO. BTW GatOrlando....you have been a fantastic poster here. Somebody suggested that you have been the OBD member of the month, and I say, "naw." Best of the Summer!
  22. I've decided. We stick to clear rules in the normal forum threads, but in the GameDay Thread... Anything goes in the GameDay thread toward the coaches and players, anything. (And I am sure it will later create some purposeful "misunderstandings" with some people in the other forum threads)
  23. In the past, my rules stated that we could be critical of current coaching decisions, and player performance, but not get personal in the forum. And anything could be said about a former player or coach. So being critical of coaching and player performance is what a forum is for--and thus why we have that available...but do we want to allow OBD members to begin calling current coaches and players, "stupid" or "lazy", or more colorful and denigrating tags? What I liked about the current rules is how the line was clear, and my concern is that if I allow people to call Lupoi or Stein a name and declare their intelligence level in the GameDay thread....how long before we see it in the forum and I have to deal with it? I am trying to let people blow off steam, yet not create for hassles for me.
