  1. With the new latitude in the GameDay Thread...it is not a joke. Go For It There. (Although an unintended consequence of this new policy is a very entertaining GameDay Thread?)
  2. People are going to do it, and I say it in advance. Why am I starting it with Montana State? Because if things don't go well at Penn State... We actually had a former FishDuck WRITER who told people to discard their season tickets, never watch the Ducks again, and to avoid this site when we lost the first time in '23 to Washington? Note the word, "former," and I cannot imagine a more over-the-top-reaction than that. A percentage of people do it... But you bring up a good point; it is not just those who vent, but the rest of us who have to restrain ourselves in response. I've been guilty in the past of over-reaction to someone else--it is tough, but we gotta stay strong. Remember, no matter what is written to vent in the GameDay Thread.... The Forum Will Still Be Pure
  3. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Montana State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. And please check the other posts in this thread to prevent putting up the a score that has already been predicted. We had one week where four entries were the same score! Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 52-16 2 4 321 Noah Whittington
  4. My Duck-Buddies....I have made a major change in how we will moderate our GameDay threads. Bottom line, is that you will be allowed to spew your frustration, to vent, as you wish. I recall how we have lost many good members because they were fine on the forum during the week, but went crazy in the GameDay threads. So, I will let you vent in GameDay threads. But Note the Parameters: --This is for GameDay threads only; you have to behave in the regular forum threads as in the past. --You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. So, if things aren't going well, and we are getting our butt kicked? It is fine to blow off the steam in the GameDay thread, but NOT in the regular forum threads. I am allowing this so people can get-it-out-of-their-system during the game, but the question is--can these same people restrain themselves to not do it on the regular forum threads? You will need to, as I am cutting slack on this with the implied agreement by those who utilize this new privilege--that they will contain themselves in normal forum threads as before. I'm counting on the good people of this forum to hold their end up, in order to have a sounding board for when things get testy for us all. One Caveat? I would be mindful of the total game, because I recall a few years ago when we opened against Portland State--the Vikings marched down the field and scored early in the first quarter before Oregon got things going. And people absolutely melted down. Angry at the DC Lupoi, angry at the team....just angry. Then we won 81-7 and those in early meltdown mode looked pretty silly. So you are free to write what you want, but know it could provide laughter for us later.... We have a fantastic community here, and I want you all to enjoy the experience, thus the new freedom.
  5. For those who do not have Twitter/X accounts... Are you ready for FOOTBALL?! (Calm down Charles...)
  6. OK...it is cool to find out the uniform later today, but I cannot wait to see the starting lineups, especially in the defensive backfield, and especially after David Marsh's article recently that made us ponder. How about you?
  7. From On3... News broke on Monday of a carriage dispute between YouTube TV and FOX, putting college football fans in jeopardy of missing some top games of the weekend. Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET was highlighted as a critical moment, where channels could be taken away on the streaming platform. FOX, FS1, and the Big Ten Network were all in danger if something could not be figured out. Both sides have released statements on the matter. And now, another update has been provided. YouTube TV and FOX have reached a “short-term extension,” and customers will not see disruptions in service. YouTube TV tweeted the update on Wednesday at 5:02 p.m. ET. “We’ve reached a short-term extension with Fox to avoid service disruption for YouTube TV subscribers while we work on a new agreement,” the tweet read. “We’re committed to advocating on behalf of our members as we work toward a fair deal and will keep you posted on our progress.” YouTube TV also explained the next step in its blog. The company plans to offer a $10 credit if content becomes unavailable at any point. “In order to provide you with the best in live sports and entertainment, YouTube TV enters into partnerships with content providers like Fox,” the statement read. “Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides and allows us to preserve the value of our service. We have reached a short-term extension with Fox to prevent disruption to YouTube TV subscribers as we continue to work on a new agreement. We are committed to advocating on behalf of our subscribers as we work toward a fair deal and will keep you updated on our progress. If their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $10 credit. FOX is set to host one of Week 1’s best showdowns, as the Texas Longhorns travel up to Columbus to face the Ohio State Buckeyes. Big Noon Kickoff will also be in town before Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt, and Jenny Taft have the call from inside the Shoe. One day earlier, the Baylor Bears will open their season in a massive non-conference matchup against the Auburn Tigers. A nice Friday night appetizer to the full Saturday slate, scheduled to be broadcast by Jason Benetti, Robert Griffin III, and Alexa Landestoy on FOX. FOX, YouTube TV Release Statements on Carriage DisputeYouTube TV was the one to get ahead of the situation, giving customers their perspective on where things stand. Shortly after, FOX released a statement of its own. Fingers are being pointed at one another — YouTube TV wants the price to be lowered, while FOX says Google (who owns YouTube TV) is not negotiating. “Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date and we are in active and ongoing negotiations to continue carrying their content,” YouTube TV said in a statement. “Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive. Our priority is to reach a deal that reflects the value of their content and is fair for both sides without passing on additional costs to our subscribers." FOX then responded via FOS, saying, “While FOX remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with Google’s YouTube TV, we are disappointed that Google continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace. We are alerting FOX viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that they could lose access to much of their favorite news, sports, entertainment, and local station programming unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon.”
  8. When the ACC dissolves....Florida State and Clemson will go to the SEC, while North Carolina and Miami to the B1G? Set up two Big-10 divisions with ten teams each; play the other nine in conference, and three OOC games for the schedule with a conference championship game. Notre Dame is making too much money with their own TV contract to take a pay cut going into a conference IMHO. Although they would be a great fit for us...
  9. I appreciate everyone's patience in overlooking those "backlink" sentences in articles that help to pay the bills of the two FD sites. The SEO company who paid me on this backlink was located in... Andorra! A nation the size of the Willamette Valley...
  10. In the latest embarrassment for the "Scrap-12?" The UNLV AD issued an interesting remark, a real backhanded-slap to the current Pac-12, and John Canzano was trying to downplay it, but to no avail. UNLV Athletic Director Erick Harper: "...based on the current landscape, we felt the best decision for us was to stay in the Mountain West. For one thing, the Pac-12 is not what the Pac-12 once was. It’s the same logo but without USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Utah, it’s not the same conference."
  11. BTW...look closely at her picture. I've read where even young women in their 20s have had facial surgery...doesn't that look like a pumped-up cheekbone? High forehead with angled eyelashes?
  12. When Memes are confirmed by reality? Let me get this straight...they are going to profit off her plan that everyone sees, and Bill is going to pay dearly for later? Wowsa.
  13. I am blown away, as while it may be routine for the Blue-Bloods, this is new elite territory for Our Beloved Ducks. And we have two Ducks joining Justin Herbert in Jamaree Caldwell, and Nikko Reed, who surprised everyone in training camp. What does this say to you? These 11 Oregon Rookies Made the Cut for NFL Rosters on Tuesday Nikko Reed!
  14. Great observations Mike, and it is always fun to have a guest article from you. Many thanks!
  15. I have a TON of divorce jokes, but I think I've probably offended enough at this point...
  16. I was almost ready to do a poll for how long it lasts, and my guess is she will get two kids from him, and then... This is a fascinating case-study of marriage and celebrity couples in the current culture. A couple of modern day issues to watch for; her biological clock was shouting, (Age 35) because if she wants kids--she had to find a simp soon. Women at that age will reject suitable matchups in their 20s, but when they get to her age--standards have to be revised. Women want a man who makes more money than her, that she looks up to. Thus why highly successful women have a very hard time finding a mate due to the very small pool of men actually above her level. Frequently the men she is attracted to in their 30s are not interested in her, but in a younger woman in their 20s because they can. Hence it was amazing that she found someone, considering the odds. One of the biggest predictors of upcoming divorce? When the woman makes more money than the man, and that is true in this case, but only by, maybe a BILLION? A highly predicting divorce element of celebrity couples? When the man is an athlete, and when he retires and is no longer in the spotlight and is just a "house-husband" caring for the kids? His attraction fades with her badly, and when considering her status and career? Whew! Quite a few athletes get their divorce papers demanding half within two years of retiring. Oh yes, I know that most of you will say about me, "now THAT is one bitter ol' divorced guy," and I am just telling you what the current culture is. I did not invent or change it, as it has evolved into what it is. Everything above can be confirmed by thousands of men. There IS one thing going in Travis's favor... Even with a Pre-nup....the higher earner pays the alimony later, and he could be compensated if it ends. This is a very rare instance, but this is a textbook case of when it could happen. On the other hand, they could rise above the massive odds presented by today's culture at that age and have a happy life together. We wish for that, but the odds are... 55% of first marriages fail among typical people, not counting the massive issues listed above. Nearly two-thirds of all second marriages fail. Right at three-fourths of third marriages fail. Only 12% of those that are still in their first marriage after ten years are actually happy. (Which is what...5-6% of those who began?) My upside view is, "at least they will have some children," but in the massive majority of cases--the woman will poison the children against the divorced spouse. I've read hundreds of accounts of this, heard it tragically from fellow Duck-Buddies, and experienced it myself. I recognize that so much of what is above is grim and negative, but it can be confirmed if you do your homework. I just thought this was such a unique case to watch over time...how right will I be? (And yes, I do hope for the best for them)
  17. Great research Jon, as I had NO idea that so many B1G games were so close. Superb examples you cite!
