There are two other major components in this that can save the conference in my view. First is the new 12 team playoff that could be worth two billion among the competitors. One game could garner 50 million for one team alone, thus these are huge revenue boosters for athletic departments, even if they are viewed as a massive bonus in some years. The other one is the Pac-12 considering rewarding the winners; those who qualify for the NCAA basketball Tournament and CFB Playoffs do not get 1/12th of the revenue but HALF, with the rest split 11 ways. This will keep Oregon/Washington happy and preserve the conference. After all the concerns we had two months ago--we might be alright!

Recruiting Linemen in Our New System
Charles Fischer replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We have an elite class of defensive linemen verballed to us for signing this February, and I've gotta think that with what recruits will see of Dilly's offense and how well Klemm has coached them--it would be very attractive. But it is a very thin year of high school offensive linemen, and there usually very few good OL available in the portal. We will be looking for late-bloomers, take a flyer on a project player or two and look at the JCs as well. But everybody is doing that with it being a thin year, so no assurances. I am confident that we'll recruit fewer D-Linemen next year, and more O-Linemen. Especially with how much fun this offense looks and will translate well for NFL prospects. -
HappyToBeADuck brought up a super-interesting point in another thread; what if Amazon or Apple go crazy and give the Pac-12 a colossal contract, like 50 million a year climbing to 100 million a year over seven years? This would match what we thought we would get by joining the B1G, and thus we could stand pat. Yet 60% of those who watch on TV do so through the cable sources, and we would lose a chunk of them? My TV is 10 years old, but I am able to watch stuff streaming as I did on the Pac-12 Network site for the away Oregon Baseball games. Yet TONS of people around the world could now see all the Oregon games via streaming. And we would be just as flush as the B1G, and yet save the Pac-12--would you be willing to pony up just nine bucks a month during football season to watch Oregon football on your computer, or get a TV that has that capacity? Season tickets for me (grandfathered with donation) cost me $1,800 a year, so $9.00 a month for five months is nothing...and I would consider it worthwhile to help Our Beloved Ducks. How do YOU feel about that possibility?

He has stunned everyone, and the coaches affirming their faith in him during the Georgia game has been vindicated.

Lanningrad? Just funnin...

I've seen a few of these, but pulling them all together like this from sources I have not read--seems to make more sense to me. I am good with adding San Diego State, lukewarm on the rest. How do YOU feel about adding the Aztecs after you read the short article? (From the FishDuck Feed) Why Utah opponent San Diego State is viewed as a prime candidate to join the Pac-12 WWW.DESERET.COM Could future Utah-SDSU meetings be Pac-12 games?

We did quite a few analysis articles in 2017, and IMHO Taggart was very good at play-calling and having a diverse offense that was difficult to stop. Taggart had the best class in Oregon history when he left and Cristobal had great ones, but not as high as No. 2 or No. 3 when Taggart left. And we have to remember that Cristobal was there recruiting for Taggart, in addition to Willie able to smooth Florida parents. To me, in recruiting and game management--there is no comparison.
-
To be honest...I do not know what went wrong at Florida State for him. I do believe that the group of assistant coaches he assembled at Oregon was pretty good, and most stayed with Cristobal. Chip was great with the Oregon coaching staff, but when he had to recruit his own at UCLA...not the same. (As he does not care for recruiting)

Oregon a Six-Point Favorite vs. Washington State? No!

The defense is progressing slower than the offense, but I did not realize this below. I gotta give credit where due, or is this because of pass-happy teams? Statistically speaking: Oregon Ducks run defense off to best start since early 2019 WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM The No. 15 Ducks are allowing 97.7 rushing yards per game, fourth in the Pac-12 and 33rd nationally, after limiting BYU to just 61 yards on 24 carries during their 41-20 win on Saturday. Baylor Ahead of Ducks in Coaches Poll
Charles Fischer replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No. 18 for us is about right at the moment, as we have a lot more to prove. I do believe that with continued progress and wins...we can be in the top ten by season end. Seeing Washington ranked...makes me respect them, and seeing USC at No. 7 makes me want to hurl. -
Who is the BEST ASSISTANT Coach at Oregon Thus Far?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have been very concerned about pass-protection going into this year, but the truth is...we have not thrown many long balls where the extra protection is needed. Most passes occur quickly, hence why it is easier to prevent sacks. As the offense evolves and we throw more passes downfield--it will be interesting to see how we do with pass-protection. (Especially on the right side) -
It can be forgiven because you are new here, but we have had hundreds of posts over the last four years about..."what if Mario brings a great OC here and leaves him alone?" That was the wish for four years, and then he brought in Joe Moorhead, a nationally known and respected OC. And nothing changed. Mario will not change no matter who the OC is, and he is being paid 8 million a year to do what he did at Oregon. He has been given positive reinforcement for doing what he did at Oregon? Why would he change?

Miami vs. Texas A&M Observations
Charles Fischer replied to David Marsh's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I still don't think Oregon fans realize how different this season would be if Mario stayed. I am quite certain we would have had a MASSIVE number of transfers, (most of the receivers) and the season would have a "grim" outlook to it. Hanging out in the OBD forum would not be as fun. I am so thankful for the way things worked out. Even if Mario underperforms in Miami...he is still rich beyond anything I could sniff. So everyone is happy....well maybe not everyone. -
My friends....we have had posts maligning many faiths here in the OBD forum in the past. This is why I do not allow anything to be written about anyone's faith--no matter how trivial, because it can start something and someone is bound to be offended. I have deleted three...make that three...posts in the recent past that mentioned a religion of some type. Like Autzen stadium, this is a sports venue with no place for any mention of religion. And yes, we have had pejorative statements written about the Mormon faith here in the OBD forum, and to my many friends of that church...I apologize again. From the OBD Rules: No. 12: No Reference of any kind to Politics or Religion: I do not allow even a hint of politics or subtopics pertaining to politics; no names, no terms, no links, not even a word or any references pertaining to anything political. Do not even use the word, "politics" or "political" in your posts because just the word is a lightning rod that generates discussions in a direction we do not want the site to go in. Any of the aforementioned could initiate a political discussion, and veering in that direction at all will cause a site meltdown in today’s acrimonious climate. We do not allow anything negative directed at any religion, toward anyone in the LGBT community, or toward any race, gender or ethnic group.

The candidates seem to be on offense at the moment? And this is not about recruiting, but simply coaching... --I LOVE the comments about the running backs and Carlos Locklyn, as we are seeing more vision and additional yards added than in the past. --The receivers are young, but getting open. I think Junior Adams is coaching them up... --No sacks and running the ball as well as Oregon has? How can we NOT make offensive line coach Adrian Klemm the winner? But wait...what is that offense out there....with so much variety and unpredictability? With a wonderful balance of run and pass? That is designed to utilize the gifts that Bo Nix has? And I would say we have seen tremendous growth in our QB, and the commentators on TV were quite impressed. (QB Coach) Would that make Dilly the winner? Or does it makes us, the fans the winners when they are all doing so well. We weren't saying all this last year at this time! (And it was his fourth year here? Yikes.)
