I think we are all allowed to have an opinion about Player Performance and Coaching Decisions, as that is what a forum is for. We cannot get personal, and I don't think anyone was by stating an opinion that neither had great NFL prospects. Rule No. 26 makes it more clear, about current players and coaches. No. 26: Do not get personal in judgments of the Players or Coaches: We allow commenting about players and coaches as that is what message boards and forums are all about. Second-guessing coaches and judging player performance is what everyone does, but we must not get personal or nasty toward them. Questioning a play-call or whether a tackle should have been made (Performance-related) is fine, and give your thoughts as to why in one direction or the other. Whether a coach should be retained or a player replaced is also fair-game because they know they are in the public sphere and that goes with the territory. Let’s discuss, but Ad Hominem attacks on them are forbidden. No such rules with coaches at other teams, their players or their fans. Go for it and have fun!

'Fess-Up Time: I published the article with my name by mistake; it should have been under the "OregonReigns" label that I use on occasion when I get a guest article. I've changed it to that, but when I received this as a guest post--I looked on it as giving me a break from my two articles a week for one day. When I saw that he left out Patrick Chung, Gary Zimmerman, etc....I rolled my eyes. Sheesh. But I did not have the time to research and write more to the article, and I apologize to you all for that. Since I figured it was a Saturday article, (which is usually lightly read) I thought it may not be too bad, but I knew that I would get busted for leaving out so many big names in Oregon history. I actually do not agree with the article; first it was simply a collection of old-quotes and then blah-blah assumptions about the future. Ducks Wire, in addition to this article at On3 is guilty of having an attractive title, but with no meat to the article. Part of where my disagreement comes is out of respect for Coach Cristobal; he was a relentless, untiring recruiter who used the same Alabama blueprint for recruiting that Lanning got from Kirby Smart, who got it from Saban after working with him for 13 years. I simply do not see anyone outworking Mario in the recruiting realm. So a "Revamp" is hyper-stated writing fluff, and that comes from a guy who makes great titles a big part of his life. I take pride in good titles to make people want to click, but we must have the goods in a FishDuck article to back up a tasty title. This article above does not, IMHO. We do not know how good Lanning will be yet overall, but thus far--the players he has recruited back and the first 2023 verbal is nice. But where I believe Lanning has established a higher bar is that he has recruited a better staff for recruiting than Cristobal had. The Tight End Coach difference alone is VAST between the two staffs for recruiting. Revamped...no. Improved upon by way of recruiting better coaches who can recruit players? Absolutely. And thanks to Haywarduck for posting it, because while I may have reservations about it--the bottom line is it created great discussion.

Yep. It worked so well that Cristobal stopped doing it. We've seen tempo this season...used against the Ducks, and by Oregon in the second half of the Alamo Bowl when MC was not present. The coaching and management decisions by the prior staff were epic at times...

Well, he has started out recruiting a great staff, one that I think can be slightly better than what Cristobal was best at--recruiting players.

(Press Release to Credentialed Media by Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. — Wilson Love has been named the new head strength and conditioning coach for the Oregon football program, the UO athletic department announced on Friday. “Wilson has a strong commitment to supporting student-athletes and as well as a track record of helping them develop to their highest potential in all areas,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said. “We look forward to his considerable impact on our football student-athletes and program and are excited to welcome him to the Oregon family.” “A quality strength and conditioning program is the backbone of a college football team, and we are thrilled to have Wilson Love lead the way,” head coach Dan Lanning said. “His ability to connect with student-athletes and get the most out of them both physically and mentally is very impressive. I am confident he will have the Ducks ready to compete at a championship level on a daily basis." “I had the pleasure of working with Coach Love early in his career at Alabama, and he has grown into one of the very best strength and conditioning coaches in the nation. The energy and intensity he brings to our program will be vital in cultivating a championship culture.” Love comes to Oregon after spending the last two seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach at Ole Miss. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Alabama working with the defensive line in 2014 before spending two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s assistant strength and conditioning coach. Love was named Florida Atlantic’s head strength and conditioning coach in 2017, and added the title of assistant head coach for 2018-19 before making the move to Ole Miss. Love holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He is also CPR/AED certified. “The opportunity to serve the student-athletes at the University of Oregon is an incredible honor,” Love said. “Being a part of brand like Oregon is why you coach! Williams has spent the last four seasons at Oregon, helping the Ducks to a pair of Pac-12 Championships and a Rose Bowl title. “We are really excited that Shaud Williams will be staying on with us here at Oregon,” Lanning said. “He provides important stability and familiarity for our student-athletes as we transition in our new staff. He will be incredibly helpful as Coach Love implements his vision for our strength and conditioning program.” As the head strength and conditioning coach at Ole Miss, Love helped lead the Rebels to a 10-3 overall record in 2021 and a trip to the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss knocked off Mississippi State, 31-21, in the annual Egg Bowl, moving to 2-0 against its in-state rival with Love on staff. Love and Ole Miss went 4-5 in an all-SEC regular season in 2020, finishing with a .500 record after a 26-20 win over Indiana in the Outback Bowl. Two players from the 2020 Ole Miss team were taken in the NFL Draft, with receiver Elijah Moore going in the second round and offensive lineman Royce Newman going in the fourth round. Love followed head coach Lane Kiffin to Ole Miss after helping him rebuild the Florida Atlantic program from 2017-19. The Owls reached the Boca Raton Bowl twice and won a pair of Conference USA championships during Love’s three seasons, the program’s first bowl appearance in nine seasons and first league title since 2007. FAU went 11-3 overall and 8-0 in conference play in 2017, blowing out North Texas in the league championship game and Akron in the Boca Raton Bowl. Love earned a promotion to assistant head coach going into 2018, and the Owls returned to the top of Conference USA in 2019 with another 11-3 overall record and a sweep in the conference title game and Boca Raton Bowl. Love began his coaching career at his alma mater, Alabama. He worked with the defensive line as a graduate assistant in 2014 before taking the assistant strength and conditioning role in 2015 and 2016. The Crimson Tide played for two national titles in Love’s two seasons on the strength and conditioning staff, winning the championship with a 45-40 victory over Clemson to cap the 2015 season. As a player at Alabama, Love was a three-time all-SEC academic selection as a defensive end and helped the Crimson Tide to back-to-back national championships (2011-12). He graduated from Alabama in 2013 with a degree in commerce and business administration.

My FishDuck Friends, I just wanted to give you a little heads-up concerning some future FishDuck articles that will feature some tasty information about how Lanning runs his defense and the attitudes he instills in his defense, that frankly...is different than what we've seen. We have had a wonderful fellow post here from the Bulldog fanbase, BengalDawg, (he lives in Cincinnati, but grew up in Athens) who has prepped me about the upcoming National Championship game, in addition to some interesting insights into the Georgia program. He has already made my head spin with our first phone interview, as he played college football and knows more than most. The first article comes this Monday, the National Championship GameDay article, as we will have a GameDay thread from that post, and inside my article will be nuggets to be watching for in the game on Monday night. He thinks very highly of Lanning and has some big predictions concerning his future at Oregon... Beginning next week--we will be moving to our off-season publishing schedule of which will have articles on Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday each week is all, and moving back to seven days a week in August when the 2022 season begins. But this forum is full-time 24/7!
