  1. People wrote about it on FishDuck before the season and I said nothing, but was shaking my head in private. Yet we were in the running...smell the roses!
  2. Nothing good happens after midnight for football players or the OBD forum. Drive-by Trolls I've had to get up several times in the middle of the night in the last month, (last night again) and not only delete posts, but immediately ban the new member who signed up to Troll-us. I call them "Drive-by Trolls," as they like to strike at night knowing that the forum is heavily watched by moderators during the day. It happened again last night as someone wanted to rub salt on the wounds that Duck fans have right now. Since I have Sleep Apnea, have a C-Pap machine and go through a process for going to bed--it is unpleasant to have to deal with these people, but I do not want you coming into the forum in the morning and reading that garbage. Awful stuff from awful people. Spammers We have had two instances of Spammers penetrating our defenses recently and because of the quick action of the moderators--few saw the damage for very long. The web developer and I are installing some new protocols in the registration process that should catch the few robots that penetrate the first level. (And yes, this costs money and time to protect everyone on a free site) You Are Being WATCHED.... I do not mean that in a creepy way, but to remind you that there are four moderators and I who are checking posts. EVERY post is read at least once, and this is all meant to protect all of you from the nasty stuff that exists everywhere else. You would not believe all the stuff you have not had to read because they were caught immediately by our wonderful volunteer moderators. Use Good Judgment... Ask yourself before you post..."was that polite and respectful?" Don't give into your impulses, and give thought to others when you post and reply. This forum is special because of the people in it, and the discerning way they behave. Don't Just Sign-Up....Post Your Thoughts! This is the only place to post opinions that are out-there, because everybody still has to be nice to you! So jump in, as the water is fine for Ducks at the Our Beloved Ducks forum! And do refer us to your friends, as good people are always welcome here. My thanks, Charles
  3. Well, that's just GREAT,... DUCKED....in a few sentences you summarized my next article, and frankly did it better than would have written it. So, I will throw that topic out... This really is a compliment, as I think you nailed it precisely for so many of us Duck fans. Not all, but certainly a good percentage and I thank you for a concise viewpoint shared by so many!
  4. Thanks! That saves us all the hassle of looking it all up!
  5. The UO has to look from the top down, and evaluate their Coaching Staff & AD , MC has to go!!!!!, could never understand extending his contract???? The AD has to go, he's let this go on for 4 years now??? so that tells you he sits in his comfy chair and says FI. Cristabol go South, and be the POSITIONAL Coach you are. Not a Head Coach which your NOT! The Team Lacks energy, urgency, pride...…. and the list goes on. I am so disappointed on the self implosion of this Team, Just an FYI ALL, this team won't be prominent again for a while. MC you maybe a great person, but you Stink at Coaching!!!! What you see above was posted by someone and I want to use this as an example without embarrassing the OBD member. Stating the negative is fine, as that is what a forum does, but what you see above is just venting,....is that really something anyone wants to even read? We can discuss the same points without going over-the-top, and yes....it takes some impulse control. And BTW everyone? Put in some fricken reading spaces so people won't skip reading your post. If it is too hard to read with continuous lines of text--people won't read it, as the attention span on the web is so short. Every three sentences...hit the "Enter" key or the "Return" key on your keyboard twice. Can't be any easier than that...
  6. Looking around at the usual sources....I see articles that all state the obvious same stuff. "Oregon blew their Opportunity," or "Oregon better win the Rivalry Game," or "Pac-12 Sucks," etc. I am not bringing them here; we all have beaten it up enough. I will only post articles that say something new, and thank goodness for 30Duck posting about Justin Herbert. A ten-win season and more is still quite possible, and while that game on Saturday was pretty bad--what will be even more interesting is how the team responds to it. We ALL lay a Duck-egg once in a while, but how do we come back from it? Tons of great entertainment left, and it is time to get focused on our big rivalry game. Time to put little brother in his place!
  7. That is sarcasm....and we don't do that on the site to put people down. But in this case--you are using it to the positive, to compliment Haywarduck and I allow it. (If I did not say something, then others who like to use sarcasm would point to this post and ask "why is it OK for him, and not me?" So much time spent moderating behind the scenes that nobody sees....
  8. An outstanding post, and what also is not addressed by many are all the openings for coaches, and how few good ones are available. We would be experimenting with another assistant and could do a lot worse...
  9. Not that interested in the side-show that is the Pirate...
  10. Utah scored 38 points, but with a great passing quarterback and a sophisticated passing attack--you can win those shoot-outs as Mike Bellotti teams used to do. I would like to see the passing offense of Moorhead when he has the talented passer...
  11. I really don't think that many here are thinking that, but I do think most wish he could/would solve his issues.
  12. Good gosh 30Duck! That GIF is a hoot! Made me LOL!
  13. 81DuckAlum....thank you for your donation to help with all the bills with the forum, and thanks for the "Call-Out" to everyone else. Yes, I am a Shameless Beggar who will accept donations to offset all the costs, and am grateful to all. If you (who are reading this) can give a few hours doing easy work--reading posts and clicking, (that's it!) out of the 168 hours there are in a week--please contact me. charles@fishduck.com It takes a ton of time to manage everything, and I could use some help with the easy stuff. Like you, 81DuckAlum....I just love the depth of conversation, but also the relief of how everyone is nice to each other unlike anywhere I've been. With a community like this--the high points are more fun, and the low points are easier to survive when I can "banter-with-my-buddies." I will have a bigger update about the forum later this week with all the good news, and THANKS to all.
  14. (The Press Release from Oregon Athletics did not have the final score in it, but Oregon lost 80-63) PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Playing with just eight players suited up, No. 9 Oregon got out to an early deficit and couldn’t come back against No. 1 South Carolina in the semifinal of the Battle 4 Atlantis Sunday. “Obviously disappointed with the outcome, but not disappointed with our effort,” said head coach Kelly Graves. “We don’t make excuses. This is the team we had to play with and we made the most of it.” How it Happened: The Ducks dug themselves an early hole in the opening quarter, falling behind 27-14 after one. Despite shooting it at 50 percent from the field, UO turned the ball over seven times with South Carolina scoring nine points off those miscues. The two teams traded buckets for most of the second period, but the Gamecocks closed the half on a 10-2 run over the final three minutes to open up a 44-26 lead at the break. Phillipina Kyei provided a boost off the bench for the Ducks, scoring six points, grabbing three rebounds and blocking a pair of shots in the first half. South Carolina continued to stretch the lead out coming out of halftime, starting the second half on an 11-2 run. The Ducks showed some fight in the middle parts of the third quarter, going on a 13-0 run to cut the deficit to 59-44 with 1:25 to go in the quarter. The teams would trade buckets most of the way to the finish with the Ducks ending the game on an 11-2 run, doing a lot of their damage at the free throw line. Who Stood Out: Four Oregon players scored in double figures, with Kyei and Chanaya Pinto leading the way with 12 points each. Maddie Scherr and Ahlise Hurst each added 10 points while Scherr added five assists and two steals. Kyei also grabbed six rebounds, including five offensive boards, while blocking a pair of shots and coming away with a steal. Up Next: The Ducks close play at the Battle 4 Atlantis with a matchup against No. 23 South Florida in the third-place game Monday at 11:30 a.m. PT on ESPNU.
  15. You wouldn't believe this but.... Years ago we had two cats that really loved the attention from me, and when I would work in my home office--one would insist on plopping on my papers on the desk, and the other plop on my lap and insist I make room. Athena, (named after the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, but this cat was dumb-as-a-post) and Samantha were a blast. The latter lived to be 23 years old, and my joke was...."she lived for tomorrow's attention." I don't have any now due to my schedule, but the cat GIFs bring back fun memories.
  16. Nailed it. I was talking with a Duck-Buddy yesterday and we both thought that if we placed a great QB with the same team? We would be worthy of being a Playoff team, as everything changes on both sides of the ball from the impact.
  17. This guy has some blunt words about Oregon, the conference and some big coaching hires... Pac-12 Playoff Failure Magnifies USC's, Washington's Upcoming Hires by Matt Zemek of Trojans Wire
  18. So effectively the starting three receivers through most of the season are gone? (Pittman too) Jaylon Redd and Johnny Johnson III Both Out for the Season by Don Smalley of Ducks Wire
  19. It looks like it is going to be on ESPN at 12:30 PST on Saturday November 27th, in a prime time slot to show the CFB world.... Time to put our rival away....
  20. We have to blame someone for it!
  21. I think you have hit it on the head, as there are pros and cons to each element of the decision. And welcome to the forum! Well written, well-thought out posts with paragraph/reading spaces to make it easy to read are well received here.
  22. I'll pass on the Pirate, thank you.
  23. If he brings in a transfer QB....all the other QBs will transfer out, IMHO.
