  1. This is a GREAT observation that I was going to write about later, but you beat me to it. "We will never win the big one with Chip because he cannot recruit the stud linemen needed." Now it is, "we have the talent, but not the scheme, the coaching to go with it."
  2. Your entire post is brilliant, and I completely agree with it. Cristobal does not learn, but through the hard way, and now we realize that it has to happen many times. If your scenario happened, (I was thinking of that too) then this could be a watershed moment for MC as a coach, and his future at Oregon.
  3. Was Moorhead really ill, or was he simply sick of coaching this offense?
  4. From an Xs and Os standpoint--that is right. But the quality of players? It is a good debate that we will have in my Monday article, but first I have taste the bitter bile of today's game in writing a Sunday article.
  5. Thanks, and I had no idea how valuable it would be until late today!
  6. Oh Mike....I respect your opinion SO MUCH due to our hours of intense football discussion, and when you are stating what I am feeling? It is not comforting ... it is crushing. I want someone to tell me I'm wrong. My FishDuck Friends, when you read my article tomorrow--please show me I am wrong.
  7. Look--losing games sucks. There are few bigger fans than I, and I really disagree with some of you--yet we do not go after other OBD members who disagree with us. You do not label people as haters, nor do you do the broad sweeping generalizations about fans who disagree with you. I've dealt with that extensively in the past and I will not allow it here, as it discourages people from posting who might disagree with you. It inhibits them from posting and that is NOT our intent here....I want ALL OPINIONS, and all are protected. See Rule No. 2 and Rule No. 5 right here. We are not your therapist's couch; do your venting elsewhere. Got a problem with the coaching? Me too, and state those concerns and you may certainly do so with a ton of latitude not given elsewhere, and going after the coaching and player performance is fine. See Rule No. 26 of the rules. In short, we cannot get personal concerning the players or coaches and we never throw shade at other OBD members. Look at the bright side; you don't have to write an article to be published in the morning. Normally I never sip my tasty Oregon IPAs until I am done writing, because the anger seeps through the lines. But today is an exception. THIS is the time that tests our values here, and our culture. And I will ban people in a heartbeat, because I'd rather have fewer people who are civilized, and debate the ideas and concepts instead of stooping to what the other sites and the web world does these days. No....at the OBD Forum it is just the opposite! (Go to other sites for that)
  8. I will have a digital copy that can be watched on a computer, but it will not be available until Sunday morning... If anyone wants one--contact me at charles@fishduck.com
  9. Devon Jackson, a Rivals 4-Star OLB, 6'1" 200 lbs. and the pride of Omaha is leaving that state to go where Scott Frost stated was "too tough to recruit to." Rivals listing of him is here, and he was offered by Nebraska, Texas A&M, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Auburn, Notre Dame and Michigan. A good one! This gives Oregon 10 of 21 verbals who are 4/5-Star players on Rivals, and Oregon needs 12 of them to be in the Top Ten in Recruiting Rankings at the end of the season. I believe one of the 3-Stars will get elevated later, and the Ducks will acquire another 4-Star player yet. Cristobal is killing it!
  10. I am real curious to see how healed Thibs is, because if he truly has that elite first step--then that will change the game as it did early-on against Fresno State. McKee will make mistakes if he is pressured and has to throw quickly, but I am just not certain Kayvon truly is 100%.
  11. Quite a disparity between the picks from Oregon winning big, to the most picks for the opposing team. Makes it that much more interesting! Everyone...jump in!
  12. Let's get this discussion of the game with the Cardinal going before, during and after the game! I believe Oregon is going to win BIG.
  13. Let's hope the difference is Thibodeaux!
  14. I am listening to the local Fox Sports radio broadcast, and the two local guys are discussing how (admittedly low-probability) Oregon could rise to No. 1 in the nation by the end of the weekend. Three things need to happen: --Arkansas beats Georgia (No. 2) --Ole' Miss beats Alabama (No. 1) --Oregon (No. 3) beats Stanford impressively Again...these are low odds, but if there was ever a year this could happen? It just makes the CFB day a little more interesting! We need some more of this at Stanford...
  15. I would suggest a drinking game, where you take a swig every time they refer to the underperformance of Oregon and the No. 3 team. But I don't want to chug my tasty Oregon Craft Beer IPAs, (I want to sip and savor them!) and I also have to take notes/chart the game. But it would make it easier to tolerate! Wish you could to this to them?
  16. Wow, wow WOW! Thanks for the article 30Duck, as it is not just the home team site not backing them, but Washington's site? Where purple tinted glasses are so dark that they cannot ever see the truth?
  17. Your pre-game reviews are outstanding, and this is no exception. The injuries in the defensive secondary makes me wonder if the Oregon passing game might gain some confidence to balance the expected running game? Thanks again for these!
  18. Boy...at times I say "yes," there is a culture problem. But then at recruiting time I say, "heck-no!" There is the experience factor of not just how many games you have played and coached, but how many BIG games. That 2014 team was mentally hardened from all the huge TV games, Rose Bowls, BCS Bowls, massive away games in packed stadiums with Herbie and Chris Fowler announcing. That team was filled with players who were used to everyone's best shot, and were accustomed to the bright lights and the big impact of the game. By contrast, the players and coaches of 2021 have more experience losing or playing poorly in games they were expected to win....than actually playing in big games. Yes they were in a Rose Bowl...but that was two years ago and a major block of the players putting in major PT have come to the Ducks since that game. The "being-the-hunted," and calloused to BIG GAMES is a growth factor within the program, and we are about to get a report card!
  19. My FishDuck Friends, I promise to not do this again until after the first of the year. I keep bringing this up because it is so incredible... Since we made a change back to comments below articles on March 17th, we have had a total of 5,841 comments, now since we started up the forum we have 132 posts already through the end of September 30th. The total between the two is 5,973 or just short of 6,000 comments and posts. And we've only had two posts deleted. On three other Oregon sites out there--I have been heavily criticized for having an intrusive, demanding and constraining method of moderating comments. Yet we have had fewer objectionable posts in six months on both FishDuck sites than all three other Oregon sites will have in one thread. As I've maintained--the problem is not the rules as hundreds of people here easily adapt to them; the problem with a few is their behaviors. Their primary objection in the end? They simply want free license to denigrate others without any consequences, ... and they are free to do that every other site other than this one. Perspective? Someone said to me, "Charles, two deletions is less than 1%!" No, a 1% deletion rate would be 60 posts removed and we've only had two. One-tenth of 1% would be six posts removed and again--we only had two. So what is this...our deletion rate is between three and four one-hundredths of 1%? Now this won't hold as we add new people who go through the same adaption period that you and I did...but it speaks again to the unique community we have here, and the miracle on the web that exists on FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks Forum. Tell others to join our GREEN REFUGE as we are part of something special....

  20. No sweat. I am not "tech-intuitive," meaning that once somebody shows me how to do something, then I can write down the steps and do the simple clicks. But I cannot figure anything out on my own, thus not "tech-intuitive," but "tech-impaired." I know many others are the same, thus why I want to offer directions unlike any other forum out there. (After the developer shows me how!)
  21. The first one is the "Reading Markers" above. When you come back to the forum...you will see dots and stars to the left of titles. Let's say when you left you had read nine posts in a thread, and now there 17 posts. Click on the dot or star and it will take you right to where you left off reading! Very cool! It cuts the scrolling time down, and the time wasted trying to recall where you left off. Want to clear all the dots and stars and know that you have read all you want of all the threads posted? Just click on the box (red arrow above) to Mark Forum as Read, and it will clear all the dots and stars and when you return...only the newest since you left will appear. Cool!
  22. Some media sources are reporting that Kayvon Thibodeaux will be at 100% for tomorrow, although I wonder if he truly is when I saw him limp off the field against Arizona. Bradyn Swinson is out until Cal, since there is a bye week after this game, and somebody told me that Brandon Dorlus is hurt and out? Anyone heard anything? A healthy Thibs will change this game... In the "Repository" drop-down menu at the top is Chile Duck's depth chart that he keeps updated. Very handy...
  23. That is a wonderful article David, giving us some great ponder-points concerning this team. It is a youth problem, because even when underclassmen step forward to be leaders--they can set a wrong example with inexperienced judgement. The flip-side is the benefit when so many of these talented players are playing in their third year, and have the experience and judgement, as we should have the full leadership on a team that is needed.
  24. (Press Release from Oregon Athletic Communications) BERKELEY, Calif. — The Oregon soccer program is off to its best start in 40 years after the Ducks posted their fourth consecutive shutout Thursday, a 2-0 victory at California. After going winless in the program's first 11 trips to Cal, the Ducks have now won two straight on the road against the Golden Bears. Oregon followed a 1-0 win this past spring with Thursday's victory, which included a first-half own-goal and was capped by the first career collegiate goal from Anna Phillips in the second half at Edwards Stadium. Goalkeeper Leah Freeman tied her own program record by recording her fourth straight shutout and the Ducks improved to 6-0-4 on the season. That's the best start for Oregon since the 1981 team was 9-0-1, and the Ducks will look to keep it rolling Sunday at Stanford. "I think we really came together as a team, and it just sets us up for the game on Sunday," said Phillips, a center back who scored off a set piece in the 55th minute Thursday. "We know it's gonna be a tough game, but we're setting ourselves up well for it." Notable: Freeman's shutout was the 11th of her career, tying her for fifth in UO history. … Cortez notched her fourth assist of the season, matching Zoe Hasenauer's team-leading total. … Hasenauer had two shots to reach 142 in her career, tied for sixth in UO history with current Portland Thorns forward Marissa Everett. … Oregon is unbeaten in 12 straight games extending back to last season, the longest streak for the program since 1980-81. Up Next: The Ducks play at Stanford on Sunday (1 p.m., Pac-12 Network).
  25. By the end of the season last year--no doubt that Hill was a stud. He's working his way out of the doghouse, and I like your thoughts. He doesn't have the "guns" of a typical defensive back...
