Is USC the Big Trap Game for Oregon?
NO! The week before SC, Week 12, versus Minnesota has trap potential—a Friday night game after playing at Iowa, and with the Gophers not playing in Week 11. This is the only B1G hiccup in a very favorable 2025 schedule. Everyone gets up for the Trojans, even if Troy is down. The next week closes the regular season at UW, but I don't think there's a chance that OBD overlooks SC. I think over 7.5 wins at -118 for Troy is a very good bet. USC was 1-5 in one-score games in 2024. I also think UW will go over 7.5 wins. Greg McElroy disagrees. To date, Jedd Fisch is undefeated in Husky Stadium. I think UW loses at home to Ohio State and OBD, but defeats Illinois in Seattle. I think that Minnesota will go over 4.5 wins. The Gophers finished 8-5 in 2024-25 with a solid bowl win, 24-10, over VA Tech in Charlotte. On3Washington 2025 win total: Greg McElroy offers analysis o....

College Football Playoff Controversy: Time for Big Ten Commissioner to Explain his Radical Proposal
Here's hoping I don't get fooled again, but Greg Sankey and Tony Petitti are discussing the 2026 and subsequent playoff formats almost daily. As Sankey says, 'We're two blue-collar boys.' Heard today in a discussion devoted to the SEC were two SEC homers who believe that automatic qualifiers (AQ) are still very much in play. That Sankey is posturing to get more money out of ESPN for playing a 9th conference game. The SEC's concern about the PO Committee and the manner in which it operates has not gone away. It is incorrect, as has been stated by many football experts, that a 4-4-2-2-1-3 format caps the B1G and the SEC at four teams in the field. Yes, Notre Dame will almost certainly take one of the three at-large spots season after season, but there is no restriction on the B1G or the SEC securing one of the at-large bids. Using the PO Committee's final 2024 top 25 ranking, and using the above AQ model, this would have been the PO field by conference, and the field come 2026 would be seeded as ranked. SEC - 2 Georgia / 3 Texas / 7 Tennessee / 11 Alabama / 14 Ole Miss / 15 South Carolina B1G - 1 OBD / 2 Penn State / 6 Ohio State / 8 Indiana ACC - 10 SMU / 16 Clemson B12 - 12 ASU / 17 BYU G5 - 9 Boise State IND - 5 Notre Dame The ACC and the B1G, except for a difference in ranking, would have been the same in the 2025 12-team field. The B12 would have two and not one team in the mix. The winner hands down would be the SEC with six teams in the field. Bama would have been the SEC's 4th AQ, and Ole Miss and South Carolina would take two at-large spots. If the format had played out this way, it would have meant millions of dollars more for the SEC. So, what's Sankey's beef with the B1G's proposed format? That a format with AQs is not fair to the ACC, G6, and the B12? 😁 Excuse me, Sir, how much do you want for that bridge? 🤪

Ducks Have Championship Caliber Roster: Near the Top of 2025 Blue-Chip Ratio List
SEC - Oklahoma fans would Sooner see their team on the list and are giving the bird to the Gamecocks. South Carolina and Ole Miss just missed. Greg Sankey insists that because they are in the SEC, close Means More and Means inclusion. ESPN talking heads agree. 😁

Ducks Have Championship Caliber Roster: Near the Top of 2025 Blue-Chip Ratio List
I again note that IMO the demise of the SEC in football has been greatly exaggerated, and that there is a CFB Power 2. 18 BCR Teams. 9 - SEC 5 - B1G 3 - ACC 1 - Independent (No, it's not Oregon State 🤪) B12 - ZIP Add Notre Dame to the B1G and the three ACC schools to the SEC, and are any other teams needed to decide a 'True Champion '?

Ducks Have Championship Caliber Roster: Near the Top of 2025 Blue-Chip Ratio List
Book it! One of these 18 teams will win the CFB title in 2025-26. Since the inception of the BCS in 1998, no team without a Blue Chip Roster has won a championship. No, having to win three or four games to win a title means you have to have a deep and talented roster. OBD has a Blue Chip Roster, but will not be considered to be Blue Blood before winning a Natty or two. 2011 and 2015, SIGH 😧

All deals over $600 were supposed to be revealed by the terms of the House so-called settlement. Many schools that supported the settlement are, for various reasons, not disclosing the terms of the deal. The only winner in this settlement? The defense attorneys, who I am certain charged a robust hourly fee, but their lucre pales in light of the $750 million awarded to the plaintiffs' attorneys. These newly wealthy lawyers are already whining about deals outside of 'market value' being set aside. How long before the nouveau riche round up a group of new plaintiffs and file another suit against the NCAA, and all those following the terms of the settlement for price fixing? You can't have too many private jets, right? If the folks who pay the bills, the fanatics, the fans, had standing, the NCAA would have been put out of business long ago. Without reporting, the estimate of the teams paying the most for players is a WAG, except perhaps for Texas Tech, which can't stop boasting about the $55 million payroll. (And the $1 million per annum for a softball pitcher from Stanford.) When the onion is peeled back, agents touting their deal-making prowess appear to be exaggerating the per annum payments. Shocking. Oregon and Georgia lost an OL recruit to Miami because they dropped out of the bidding. Georgia did nothing to try to retain the services of $4 million QB Carson Beck, who has all of the skills other than leadership. Knowing when to fold up is prudent. At the SEC media days, Kirby Smart asked at what dollar amount a player is satisfied. Is a player making $200,000.00, using Kirby's example, hungry for wins? Is he willing to put in the extra work required to win championships? Are young men playing for the love of the game or just the money? With a largely unregulated right to transfer, what is more important today, recruiting, the portal, or paying your best players to stick around for another season, like Michigan in 2023 and Ohio State last season? Many 4* and 5* players will not play up to their ranking out of high school. I'm waiting for one of Dan's 5 stars to show up and ball out in game one of his year one. Dak? You know the value of experienced players on your roster, and portal rankings are based in part on how a player performed in college. And the retained players and the experienced players are not interested in obnoxious (IMO) 'It's all about Me!' chest pounding. I have yet to see an NFL free agent go on (un)social media to let the fans of his new team and the sporting world at large know just how great he is. Thanks for the post. I'm reasonably certain player agents know the teams with the deepest pockets. 🤑

House v. NCAA Settlement Payments on Hold Amid Legal Challenge from Female Athletes on Title IX Grounds
