Emerging Defensive Star is Ohio State's Surprise 'X-Factor' in 2024 FACTORYOFSADNESS.CO Ohio State football has understandably massive expectations, desperate to return to the expanded College Football Playoff under Ryan Day after a trio of 11-2 se
  2. A Michigan board's take on a B1G out-of-conference game. Are the Longhorns all that? Are the Wolverines playoff contenders? It's only the 2nd game of the season but that will not keep us fans from projecting the game results into December. These games are fun but I prefer to see Texas in the PO and not in Week 2. What to Expect When the Texas Longhorns face Michigan football GBMWOLVERINE.COM Wolverines fans have heard the song and dance from their critics for years, that they walk through a cupcake schedule to begin each year before going into confe

  5. In these 3 simulations by Yahoo, Oregon is PO 3 for 3. 'EA Sports College Football 25' predicts the 2024 season SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Here are 10 takeaways from the first-ever Yahoo Sports "EA Sports College Football" simulation. The sims Ducks Wire is doing on the Oregon schedule are IMO suspect. Boise will not stay as close as predicted, 3 point game until late in the 4th Q and Danno is not going to hang 80 on the Beavers, even though the SOBs deserve it. The week after OR ST is an off week. If the game is over by the start of the 3rd Q, I think Danno will get as much rest for his starters as he can and get Dante and other youngsters playing time. Ducks Wire is using 10-minute quarters in its sims which takes one-third of game time off the clock.

  9. I have a hard time believing that the B1G media will rank Oregon ahead of Ohio State this season. Maybe the guy from Ann Arbor will vote Oregon preseason No.1 but If the Columbus beat writer were to do so he be dragged through town behind one of those trucks Bill Walton referred to. 😁
  10. Good call. I'm listening to and watching on and off the SEC media day coverage, Arkansas HC Sam Pittman had this to say about the transfer from Boise, QB Taylon Green. The QB who led Boise to the MW title last season. "He's the one who Bobby (OC Bobby Petrino) identified as the player we needed at QB." Good luck to any G5 program trying to hang onto a player the P2 covets. Nelson was a 5* recruit when he committed to SC in 2022 but he was not able to beat out Miller Moss for the backup QB duties behind Williams. Starting your 2nd game in Autzen is not a favorable draw.
  11. Not a lot of love between Kiff and Paul Finebaum. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/lane-kiffin-humiliates-paul-finebaum-in-epic-roast-at-sec-media-days
  12. Athlon Ranks the SEC OOC Schedules. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/sec-football-ranking-2024-nonconference-schedules-easiest-toughest Hats off to the Missouri Tigers for the Daily Double Scheduling wins. OOC - 16 out of 16. In Conference - 16 out of 16. Coach Drinkwitz should be buying drinks for the ADs who put a crummy OOC schedule together and all those at HQ in Birmingham who constructed as close as a team can get to a cupcake schedule in the SEC. In 2024, the No. 1 toughest OOC schedule-ranked Florida will play 11 P4 games that include eight preseason-ranked teams. Florida wins the Disgusting Double Scheduling both in and out of conference. Perhaps the Gators' AD schould hire a scheduling guru from Missouri or the Mizzou Bag Man who handed the payment off at Birmingham HQ? In 2024, Mizzou will play nine P4 opponents, three ranked opponents and the CoMo Tigers drew the SEC Cupcake Factory - Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt. And Mizzou will double the pleasure with the same conference schedule in 2025. In 2024, 15 of the 16 SEC teams, the outlier being Texas, will play an FCS opponent. Depending on how UConn Oregon State and Washington State are viewed, P4 or G5, the B1G will play 18 or 14 (not the erroneously 13 I typed above) P4 games. With Florida playing three P4 opponents, Georgia playing two, and LSU playing two, the SEC will play 20 P4 opponents. Some of this margin in the SEC's favor is negated by 13 of the 16 SEC teams playing nine P4 opponents. If UConn and the Pac- 2 are considered P4, 16 of the 18 B1G teams, all but Indiana and Ohio State, will play 10 or more P4 opponents. The SEC's P4 OOC Opponents. ACC - 11 teams. Clemson vs. Georgia and South Carolina, Miami, FSU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Wake Forest, NC State, VA Tech, Cal, Boston College. Due to proximity (not you, Cal!) and annual rivalry games with the ACC, there will always be many games played between the ACC and the SEC. B1G - 4 teams. Michigan, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin. B12 - 4 teams. ASU, Houston, OK State, UCF. Independent, 1 game, Notre Dame at Texas A+M. Based on talent and scheduling, I believe Paul Finebaum is correct in predicting four SEC teams will be invited to the Playoff.
  13. LOVE IT! But seeing BC, Syracuse, and Iowa State on the PO list in this universe and not somewhere else in the muti-verse kind of dampers my enthusiasm. Hey Max, get a life? Thank you Charles for making the effort to copy much of the article. At OBD the kudos keep on comin'.
  14. In Athlon's ranking of B1G OOC schedules in 2024, Oregon is ranked sixth. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/big-ten-football-ranking-2024-nonconference-schedules The CFP poohbahs have made it clear that the Pac-2 will be treated as independent teams this season and next. I have placed the P1G - 2 in a smelly category of their own. Both schools play very weak schedules in 2024. FWIW, OREGON, and Pudue play at 'little osu' and UW plays Wazzu in the Seahawks Stadium. Five B1G teams will not play an FCS opponent in 2024: USC, Michigan, UCLA, Penn State, and Ohio State. 13 teams will play an FCS opponent. Four teams, knocking the Pig-2 out of the P4, play no P4 teams OOC - Indiana, Ohio State (1st time since 2024 with Texas on the schedule in 2025,) Oregon, and UW. P4 Competition - Independent - Maryland plays UConn, Purdue and USC play Notre Dame, Oregon, and Purdue play Oregon State, and UW plays Washington State. ACC - Boston College, Virginia, VA Tech, Duke, UNC B12 - Colorado, Kansas, W Virginia, Iowa State. SEC - Alabama at Wisconsin, Texas at Michigan, USC vs LSU in Las Vegas, UCLA at LSU. If you count the little-2 + UConn, the conference plays 18 'P-4 teams' in 2024. Without UConn and the Pac-2, it's 13 P4 games. Not all that difficult. I'll take a look at the SEC in 2024 later today or tomorrow. The SEC will play 16 more OOC games than the B1G in 2024 and 2025 and 16 fewer conference games. 😒 Sack the Vandals!
  15. LSU v USC; Texas at Michigan; Alabama at Wisconsin; and Notre Dame at USC make the B1G OOC 2024 big game list. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/preview-nonconference-matchups-2024-season-texas-longhorns-michigan-wolverines I'm shocked the Oregon game at a Pac-2 school masquerading as a P4 school did not make the list. Rumor has it that a group of rodents suffering malocclusion difficulties disguised as a colony of angry beavers are storming Athlon's headquarters. Athlon rates the B1G OOC schedules in 2024. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/big-ten-football-ranking-2024-nonconference-schedules

  17. Any player down to the Ducks and a few others or one other will likely still be recruited by Dan and friends until the 1st signing date. LSU got one over Dan yesterday but earlier Dan got one who was once 'committed' to LSU. It ain't over so long as the fat money NIL collectives continue to sing.

  19. ACC - 17 and a half teams and 8 conference games. B1G - 18 and 9. B12 16 and 9. SEC 16-8. In-conference schedules will vary widely from season to season in the degree of difficulty. CFB should see more suspects and not just the usual subjects in contention for conference titles and a spot in the Playoff. Tie breakers will come into play; especially, with conferences having to sort out the two teams playing in their conference champ games. Hayes: Playoff poll not part of SEC Championship tiebreaker, sources say WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM The SEC hasn't finalized its SEC Championship tiebreaker scenarios, but sources tell Matt Hayes two critical details that will be part of the process. I do not know whether this procedure, used when the B1G had divisions will continue to be the format for the B1G without Divisions and an expanded Playoff field. Big Ten football tiebreaker: Who wins if Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State tie division? WWW.DISPATCH.COM Here's a look at the Big Ten East tiebreaker scenarios for Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Once the former Pac-12 bowl contracts expire if the P4 still plays bowl games after the Playoff expands to 14 to 16 teams, tiebreakers will have to be used to determine which B1G teams that are not in the Playoff receive the better bowl bids such as the Gator Bowl. Will lesser bowl games be played opposite 'playoff bowl games?' Will players, and their agents be interested in playing non-playoff bowl games in the post-season without an NIL incentive? How many bowls other than the six used in the playoff (in 2025 and 2026) will be able to afford payment to the players? There is still a lot to sort out.
  20. I'm Horns Down on all of the preseason love for Texas. Caveat: I had the same preseason view of FSU in 2023. Whoops! Texas is the talk of the town at its SEC Media Days debut, but can the Longhorns shine in the spotlight? - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Maybe it's all the home-state media members in Dallas, but it sure feels like everyone wants a piece of Texas at SEC Media Days
  21. Hopefully, OBD will be doing a lot of blow-outing! Which conference plays the most one-score games? SEC oversells competitiveness, Big Ten produces most blowouts - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM A deep dive into the number of one-score games and blowouts for every FBS conference There is a good reason for Bill Connolly calling the B1G top-heavy. There are more blow-out B1G games than in the other P4 and G5 conferences.
  22. A deserved Shout Out for the Media Saint Nick. 'Aw Riiiigt.' 23. Autzen makes the cut - Top 25 stadium Top 25 college football stadiums - Rose Bowl, Michigan and more - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Fourteen of ESPN's college football writers rank the 25 best stadiums in the sport. Who's No. 1, who missed the cut and what makes these stadiums so special? The Rose Bowl? Can't be beat for tradition but for comfort? The SEC with 10 and the B1G with 9, dominate the top 25. For our Georgia fans, Sanford Stadium ranks 18th. No. 1 belongs to LSU (a dirty word in these parts today. 😒 Here are the B1G stadia in the top 25. 2. UCLA - Rose Bowl; 3. Michigan Stadium; 5. Penn State's Beaver Stadium; 6. The Other School Up North; 7.Ohio State Stadium; 8. Wisconsin - Camp Randall Stadium; 14. OREGON - Autzen Stadium (loudest per capita!); 16 Nebraska Stadium; 22. USC - Coliseum. In 2024 the Ducks play in Autzen, of course, and in the Rose Bowl, Micigan Stadium, and Camp Randall. It's a Power 2 SEC and B1G Show.😍
