Brown is the QB for Alamo Bowl
He had his career day when he started against and defeated Ohio State; the only game he has started vs a top 25 team and won. And in the OH ST game he completed fewer than 50% of his throws. For goodness sakes. Does anyone on the Oregon coaching staff give a whip about 2022? This is not a playoff semi or even an exhibition Rose Bowl, this is a game for runners up. I guess no one wants to see Thompson or another youngster start a game before stepping on the field in Mercedes Benz Stadium vs Georgia?

Brown is the QB for Alamo Bowl
If this is the case did the Ducks even try to go after Dillon Gabriel, now at UCLA, Penix, now at UW or Rattler? This guarantees that unless the Ducks bring in a QB from the portal the Ducks QB 'at' Georgia will be making his 1st start in CFB. I do not get THIS! Does anyone give a whip about longer range planning?

Did Lanning Leave A Year Early
Completely agree with you deschutes. Would the author stay at his job with the kind of pay increase Lanning is receiving? This is an oblique shot at Oregon and the Pac-12. Stick around Dan and maybe you could have landed a job in the SEC or at least in the ACC?

ALAMO BOWL DROP OUTS TO DATE
FYI - QB Dillon Gabriel has transferred to UCLA. When on and when healthy, this guy can light it up. Joins QB Penix who transferred from Indiana to UW. NOT playing in the Peach Bowl : Michigan State - Doak Walker winner RB Kenneth Walker. Pitt - Heisman Trophy finalist QB Kenny Pickett. Yeah, it's an NY6 Bowl but it is still an exhibition game. I do believe we will see Ohio State players drop out of the Rose Bowl?

A win by a TD and a FG, I like it.

"One" Immediate Change You'd Like to See in 2022?
A team that shows ready to play to its standard and not down to level of competition. In other words a team that puts up 60 on the Stony Brooks of the world. A team that shows up versus inferior conference comp and blows these teams away. A team that plays game after game to the ability of its roster. A team that improves during the season and does not retrogress,

Utah-Ohio State "Who's Gonna Win the Rose Bowl?"
How many, if any, Buckeyes will opt out? Including tOSU's entire corps of great wide receivers. Regardless, I think Utah will be more motivated; possibly ready to send its coach into retirement with a big win?

Mullens signed on to a $3M payday 'at' UGA. If you are going to play Georgia play the Dawgs in the Playoff.

Jimbo: NIL Doesn't Change Recruiting
MALE BOVINE EXCREMENT! From a guy who just signed the number 1 class in the country with no NIL inducement whatsoever, right?
-
So Where Do We Stand With Recruiting? Does Anyone Really Know?
With the portal in place a new approach has to be looked at when it comes to recruiting rankings. An all in roster evaluation is needed once a school via recruiting and through the portal hit the 85 limit (92 in 2022.) For instance, Bama just signed an all SEC DB who entered the portal and transferred to the Tide from LSU. Bama's leading tackler and leading wide receiver in 2021 came respectively, via the portal from Tennessee and Ohio State. QB Quinn Ewers was the 2021 #1 recruit before he left HS early and signed at Ohio State. A 5* who entered the portal and transferred to Texas. Recruiting-wise, Texas gets no credit for this 5* joining the roster.

Dabo: the Transfer Portal is "Chaos"
After the Supreme Court neutered the NCAA with the Alston decision there is no entity to regulate NIL in all of its shapes and forms. It's pay for play.

Urban A Free Agent
Why did he leave at a gig at FOX that he was so good at? What in the heck made him think 'my way' will work in the pros? Especially with the dumpster fire Jags? Hubris kills.

2022 Football Schedule Announced!
You just beat me to it my friend. Bruins out of conference - Bowling Green, Alabama State, South Alabama. 4 and not 5 conference road games. We are still in the day and age of a 4 team Playoff. What is Mullens trying to prove? UCLA will be 3-0 playing no one and will be ranked in the AP top 25. The SOS could come back to haunt UCLA but the Bruins is close to a lock to enter conference play 3-0.

2022 Football Schedule Announced!
Beyond brutal! Opening game on the road "at" Georgia, ranked No. 3. in the nation as of today. Possibly opening against the defending national champion? E WA is far from a cupcake. Why not hand a check to Portland State? And why not play this game week zero prior to playing Georgia? In addition to playing "at" Georgia OOC, the Ducks face a BYU team that went 5-0 vs the Pac-12 in 2021. A team that is currently ranked No. 13 in the country. Add to this 5 conference road games. THIS is senseless Playoff scheduling. New coaches. A new QB. New system on O and D. And how long does it take to figure out that playing 9 conference games is STUPID! I like Oregon's Playoff chances in 2023 but not in 2022. Not with this schedule. I also add, if a school will not give Oregon a H+H series do not schedule said team at a 'neutral' site OOC!

Dillingham’s Offense: Four New Elements for Oregon
Thank you Coach. Always enlightening. I'm looking forward to saying 'so long' to the Prevent Offense. Vince Lombardi would have loved Mario's O, most of us did not. With Mario not playing one of the younger QBs in 2021 do you think Oregon should go into the portal for a QB with game experience? Kedon Slovis in the portal is intriguing.

Dillingham’s Offense: Four New Elements for Oregon
It was an up and down performance by the Seminoles on O. Losing Gabriel to injury did not help and the FSU OL has underperformed, based on recruiting rankings, for years.

ALAMO BOWL DROP OUTS TO DATE
DM - I have the same ambivalence about this game as you do. If AB starts at QB I'll tape the game and watch it on fast forward after the fact. Players opting out and I support their right to opt out, is a sign of the status of the bowl. The Alamo Bowl is a consolation prize and a silly place to send the Pac-12 runner-up to play a bowl game. Not that it will ipso facto help the Pac-12 but let's get to a 12 team playoff ASAP.
