College Football: The Beginning of the End!
Before the current Playoff agreement ends in 2025, not much can be done. Beginning in 2026, The Alliance, ACC, B1G, Pac-12 and Notre Dame, can hold their own post-season tournament. 8 teams. 3 conference champs. 5 AL, including Notre Dame with 1st round games played on campus of 4 highest ranked teams. No conference can have have more than 3 participants in the playoff. Start the season in 'week zero'. Legit NIL agreements will be arranged to compensate the players appearing in the playoff. Loss of Income insurance will also be provided for these players. Agree on NIL being implemented as attended and not be used to buy recruits or players from the transfer portal. Limit the time players can enter the transfer portal. Assist the players by having an approved list of agents. Agree on minimum entrance requirements and APR requirements. Give players in every sport 5 seasons to play 4. Restrict and penalize roster tampering. Other than for salaries, cap the amount a school can spend on CFB and CBB. Will 4 and 5 star recruits be 'lost' to the SEC, yes, But academics will be as important as will athletic accomplishments. Academics will 'just mean more.' in the Alliance conferences and Notre Dame where they already mean more. When OK and TX officially join the SEC only 5 of 16 schools will be AAU members. When BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF join the B 12, only 2 schools will be AAU members. Agree on a 12 game schedule with one OOC opponent having to be a P5 opponent. Agree that all conferences will play 10 conference games and Notre Dame will play 11 games vs P5 opponents. Eliminate divisions. Agree that the regular season decides the champion with agreed upon tie-breakers. No conference champ game. As noted above the season starts in week zero. Half the teams bye in week 5. Half the teams bye in week 6.This would allow quarter final and semifinal games to be played in December and conclude on 1/1. Agree to uniformly negotiate postseason media rights. Will this bring in as much $ as a playoff including the SEC? No. But it will still result in material dollars.

TRIVIA - BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE WITH NO FOOTBALL SCENES THAT FEATURED A "GO BAMA! ROLL TIDE!" SHOUT OUT
The challenger? The Hunt For Red October with Sean Connery and the Big Baldwin?
-
National Championship Game Prediction Contest!
So far, 9-4 UGA. 0-7 in its last 7 games vs Bama. Last UGA Natty - 1981. Remember a a guy named Hershel Walker?

TRIVIA - BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE WITH NO FOOTBALL SCENES THAT FEATURED A "GO BAMA! ROLL TIDE!" SHOUT OUT
DING DING Drake and 1Ducker1. Denzell was definitely a featured actor as was Hackman. 'Tony' Soprano' was also in the movie along with Giggo Mortenson. Best sub movie ever?

Owning the West in Recruiting?
$. How much do you have? How much are you willing to spend on recruits? A+M set the bar at $70M plus.

USC's QB Jaxson Dart Entering Portal? Whew!
WOW! The inmates have taken over the asylum that was once CFB. Agree that this means Caleb Williams follows Riley as will other very good Oklahoma football players. Will we see Dart playing for BYU or UTAH in Autzen next season? Maybe see him playing QB for UGA?

Extra points for naming lead actors.

National Championship Game Prediction Contest!
Co Bama! Roll Tide! 45 - 28; Rush 170 - pass 405 - TOs 1 - Sacks - 2 Psyched Out - Kirby Smart yet again; including, starting a 3* at QB instead of a 5*. IF Daniels starts, I'm buying back my 'bet.' In today's CFB it is rare to see a team with the lesser QB win the game.

The NFL Will Never Admit That . . .
The Chargers are improving and will continue to improve. There should be no OT in CFB except in champ and playoff games. Then you play as many quarters of 'regular football' as needed before a winner is declared. The NFL definitely did not want a tie last night.

National Championship GameDay Thread: Watch for Georgia Blitzes!
Great and very interesting take. Tennessee, A+M, LSU and Auburn all tested the Bama O by mixing up the looks and the number of guys on the DL. Confusing an average OL by Bama standards, as to how much pressure would be brought and where it was coming from. UGA stayed in its base 4 DL alignment the entire game versus Bama making it easier as you so noted Charles, on the Bama OL and on a very active QB, Bryce Young. Auburn sacked Young 7 times, Bama zero. As Dawg pointed out, in the SEC champ game Young had all day to exploit an average UGA secondary. And with the pass game working, the Bama run game worked better than it had all season against quality SEC Ds. If UGA cannot pressure Young and Stetson Bennett turns it over like he did in the SEC champ game, Bama wins. In Young. LB Anderson and WR Williamson, Bama will have the 3 best players on the field. Bama was the underdog in the SEC champ game for the first time in close to forever. Bama is the underdog tonight. I'm sure Bama hasn't been a back to back dog since Saban's first season in Tuscaloosa. Bama has the better, by far, QB. Bill O'Brien schooled Lanning and Smart in the SEC champ game. Saban has a big time psychological edge on Smart, a former assistant has he beaten time and again after falling behind versus Georgia. I want UGA to win but sorry: Go Bama! Roll Tide!

Texas A&M Spent an "Unfathomable Amount Of Money" NIL... Buying recruits,
We reasoned regarding how a 'normal' business would consider its investment in college football player. But we are dealing with fanatics here, fans who own businesses or other wise have ways to funnel money to the school they love. DGU due to an average season was pulled by DR Pepper early on. But remember, these deals are structured not necessarily to promote a product but to buy a kid's services for your school. I'm pretty certain the ROI is not the driving force behind NIL being used to buy recruits or to buy guys out of the portal.

Saban Wants to "Save Us" from NIL?
He has lots of ideas like playing 9 conference games and not playing FCS schools that never seem to come to fruition. This is likely rat poison from the fox.
- Duck Wire has an opinion starting QB in Pac12

What Will The Portal And NIL Combined Become?
In one form or another you will see 'this,' sooner rather than later. The questions? Where does Oregon fit in 'this?" Where does the Alliance fit in 'this?'

What Will The Portal And NIL Combined Become?
It will accelerate the pace of the coming Super League.

What's Interesting Besides Oregon being in this Top 25 is the Team that Isn't in it
McMurphy? I would place little reliance of this. A+M at 4. Why? A+M just bought a top recruiting class but has uncertainty at QB and plays at Bama. I agree with Charles, 16 is a decent preseason ranking for the Ducks. I expect close to every preseason poll will have Utah ranked the highest in the Pac-12? But Utah has to cone to Autzen.

Texas A&M Spent an "Unfathomable Amount Of Money" NIL... Buying recruits,
Great take. The B1G and the SEC have the $ to do this. The other conferences do not.

My Wish: What is Yours?
Bama is the underdog Monday night.

Oregon Target Cyrus Moss is Going to Miami
Where playing for Mario, he'll gather moss and not passes.

Come Back and get the Heisman, Travis Dye
I hope he returns? Hope he can work with a trainer on improving his speed. And I hope Reggie Bush gets his Heisman back. The 'extra benefits' Bush received are not extra benefits in today's world. Do you think Tennessee with its recently exposed pay for play program is going to lose 30+ scholarships?

Texas A&M Spent an "Unfathomable Amount Of Money" NIL... Buying recruits,
Or, how about the Alliance and Notre Dame say to hell with this and exit the so-called playoff and ESPN come 2026, host their own postseason tourney and put more of an emphasis on education than on athletic prowess? When OK and TX join the SEC only 5 out 15 SEC schools will be AAU members.

Christian Gonzalez Transfers to UO
I have no doubt that the new staff is and will continue to work the portal. Great for the Ducks. Sucks for CU. Another reason a Super League is coming. Lesser teams can sign but not keep these guys. BTW with Devin Lloyd graduating Utah has signed a LB who was Florida's leading tackler in 2021. Utah opens at Florida on 9/3. Unlike Oregon's one off game vs UGA, UF is playing a H+H with the Utes.

Ranking PAC-12 2022 out of Conference (OOC) Schedules
UGA the 2nd game of the season in Athens and a return game the following year at Autzen after opening with Portland State, I am fine with. An opening game one off game to help Rob balance the budget, no way. If Florida can trip to Salt Lake City to play Utah there is not excuse for UGA like TENN, not agreeing to a H+H with Oregon. Insane scheduling for a team that already had BYU on the roster and 5 conference road games on the schedule before Rob signed up for this game. The Pac-12 has made the playoff 2 times in 8 seasons. Scheduling like this makes no sense PO wise. BTW, after this game UGA plays 8 conference games including Vandy and South Carolina. Florida at a neutral site and 3 road games.

Texas A&M Spent an "Unfathomable Amount Of Money" NIL... Buying recruits,
Recall that SMU guys were being paid under the table and before pay for play is 'legal' under the guise of NIL legislation. Combine this with free agency, the transfer portal, and roster tampering and every roster in FBS will be effected one way or the other.

Texas A&M Spent an "Unfathomable Amount Of Money" NIL... Buying recruits,
"They?" Based on the 9-0 Alston decision against the NCAA the NCAA can do nothing to control the amount of NIL received by a student athlete. When it comes to BBS football the NCAA is left with eligibility responsibility and that's about it. In November the NCAA basically asked the P5 and G5 to take over rules, regulation and enforcement of CFB.
