  1. I figured Day would go after Penn State's OC, Andy Kotelnicki, and Ducks OC Will Stein. Both have a year's experience in the B1G, and both teams made the PO. PSU to TOSU would be payback, and either hire weakens a quality conference opponent. Is Will a fit for a program that features a downfield passing attack? Out of necessity, Andy K featured TE Tyler Warren last season. Due to their long relationship, Day was willing to give Chip play calling duty. Will he be as eager to surrender play calling to anyone who was not his mentor? And no offense to the saner TOSU fans but why would anyone opt to perform in front of an SEC+ demanding fan base?
  2. The Madness of College Football. Well stated. Chip Kelly bolted for Las Vegas Raiders to leave 'madness of college football' says Ohio State beat reporter WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Cleveland.com's Stephen Means wrote that Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's departure to join newly hired Las Vegas Raiders coach Pete Carroll might be beneficial for both sides.
  3. A B1G Game Right Out of the Box. Why Texas-Ohio State should be billed as ‘the G.O.A.T. college football opener’ SATURDAYTRADITION.COM When Texas travels to Ohio State for a Cotton Bowl rematch to kick off the 2025 season, it'll mark a historic season-opener.
  4. From the B1G's Saturday Tradition Site. No way TOSU would match $6M for an OC. Chip Kelly leaving Ohio State after 1 season to become Raiders OC, per report SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Chip Kelly is reportedly leaving Ohio State to become the new offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders.
  5. 'The hits keep on coming for TOSU.' How many college football teams would love to switch rosters with the Buckeyes? Chip's salary is going to $6M a year and Knowles received a huge bump in pay. Ryan Day will find excellent replacements without having to put a huge dent in TOSU's athletic budget. Match these salaries and how many other coaches will have their hands out. The hits just keep on coming for Ohio State after national title run SATURDAYBLITZ.COM Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a national championship run, but getting back to the pinnacle of college football won't be easy in 2025. 6. Ohio State is 1st on the list at +170 to win the B1G title in 2025. These odds are twice as favorable as OBD's odds of +380. At the Playoff/Championship level, Ohio State losing its DC and OC has been noted. TOSU continues to have the best odds of winning it all but the odds have moved from +450 to +600. OBD and Texas remain tied for second to win it all at +650. Below are the rankings and odds for Oregon's B1G Opponents in 2025. [It wouldn't be Ducks Wire without at least one broken egg. There are no odds for OBD 2025 opponent Rutgers. 🤓] 3. Penn State +380. Current line - Oregon -3.5 5. Indiana +2500/ 7. USC + 4500/ 8. Iowa +5000/ 9. UW +6000 11. Minnesota +10000/ 12. Wisconsin +18000 / 16. Northwestern +50000 IMO, Indiana is overvalued. The best odds is Illinois 10th at +6000. I believe the 2024, 10-3 Fighting Illinois are being overlooked and under-ranked almost across the preseason rankings board. Illinois misses Oregon, Michigan, and Penn State, and Ohio State and USC visit Illinois. Place Your Bets? Early betting odds for 2025 Big Ten Conference Champion released DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Oregon Ducks are among the early favorites to win the Big Ten Championship in the 2025 college football season.
  7. A QB out of the B1G who stretched to be 6' tall? Drew Brees. With his record-breaking pass in Senior Bowl practices, close to 75 mph, Gabe has the arm strength. I think a solid Draft Combine where he will shine in his interviews, could get him into the early 3rd round. It only takes one front office to like your chances and lots of NFL teams need QB help. Brock Purdy, $50+M a year? I wonder what Jim McMahon, Steve Young, and Drew Brees think about this?
  8. He does have Brock Bowers and J-P-J. As Nevada Dawg noted above, like many teams in the NFL, the Raiders need a leader at quarterback. It looks like the team finally has a leader as the head coach. The Raiders play in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. Two games against the Chiefs, the Chargers, and the Broncos is a tough ask. All three teams qualified for the post-season. Antonio Pierce or Pete Carroll? Pete has the chops. Pierce? Nevada Dawg is also spot-on about the Raiders owners. Brady is already making a difference, and I don't believe any major front-office moves will be made without consulting Brady.
  9. There are still plenty of 4 and 5* guys hanging around the TOSU program. I'm reasonably certain I could coach J. Smith: Run wherever you want to and catch it! 🤓 And you only have to pay me $1M per annum. I don't think I could do worse than Chipper did vs. the Huskers and the Wolverines and the per-play call dough would have been much less. 🤑 I posted the projected 2025 Bucks lineup under the Chip to Vegas post. TOSU will be no worse than 3rd in the 2025 combined Blue Chip Roster rankings and is currently a slight favorite at home vs. Texas and Penn State. Probably will not be an underdog in any game in 2025. I will be interested to see if Ohio State is still the favorite to win the 2025-26 title tomorrow on FanDuel and other gaming sites. As of now, FanDuel continues to have TOSU +450 to win the title with OBD and Texas tied for 2nd at +650.
  10. How about the coaches in the American West Division? Harbaugh - played for a Super Bowl + won a CFB title. Andy Reid - three Super Bowls won, playing for a 4th a week from today. Sean Payton - one Super Bowl won. Pete Carroll - one Super Bowl won and won two CFB titles. Chip Kelly - His HUNH O revolutionized CFB. Plus, Tom Brady is part-owner of the Raiders.😁
  11. The Jimmies and the Joes are still in Columbus by the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria boatload. It will not be hard for Day to find quality coaches who want to be the OC and DC at TOSU. OC? WRs coach Hartline is likely ready to move up. Three solid O Line starters return. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate are back along with highly-rated recruits. On defense, Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, and one other starter return but the talent is on hand to plug guys in, back-ups who had significant reps in 2024. Chip like Day walked away in glory. But Chip hardly had his fastball in every game; especially home games vs. Nebraska, a team blown out the Saturday prior by Indiana, and of course, Michigan. https://247sports.com/longformarticle/ohio-state-football-projected-depth-chart-for-2025-defense-245039474/#2592430
  12. Wouldn't that be great? Defeat TOSU to win the title, claim the No. 1 seed, and rematch in the Rose Bowl? 😧 I don't think it's wise in the long run for those outside the Power 2 to veto a change in venue in 2025 that is coming in 2026. But ... Bill Connelly's 1st take on the 2025-26 PO has Ohio State as the No. 1 seed. Oregon is his No. 8 seed and OBD hosts No. 9 LSU, before playing TOSU in the Rose Bowl. Bill like most 'experts' does not believe the format will change next season; a season that will run five days longer than 2024-25 with the champ game in Miami on 1/25/26. Obvious format changes needed including the start and end of the season but in CFB the obvious rarely happens.
  13. My Mom earned a Masters Degree from TOSU in Social Work. I'm named after a maternal Uncle, Jon Jones, who was a tank commander under Patton and KIA at The Bulge. Had he lived, Jon would have returned to TOSU for his senior year and been captain of the Golf Club. My other maternal uncle, Harvey Jones, survived combat and returned to captain the Michigan Golf Club. My grandfather was one of the founding members of Inverness Golf Club in Toledo. Ohio State undergrad, a Masters Degree in engineering from Michigan. My family had a difficult time figuring out which state won the War for Toledo. 😁 My football claim to fame. I was born in Toledo in the same hospital as Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh. Happy for Buckeyes, coaches, players, alumni, alumna, and fans worldwide. Can't wait for the next Ducks/Bucks game.
  14. USA grades on a curve and not simply on the records. Example - 9-4 Alabama gets a (generous IMO) C. Grades for the B1G - A+: Indiana A: Illinois. Ohio State, OREGON B: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska C+: Michigan, Rutgers, UCLA 😄 Northwestern, UW - This is supposed to be a 'C' C-: Maryland, Michigan State, USC 😧 Wisconsin - This is supposed to be a 'D' D-: Purdue Report card time. Our letter grades for each team. Looking at the photo of Kiff, has me wondering if Bill Connolly's SP+ lost all credibility with a season-ending ranking of Ole Miss at No. 2! 💩 I guess that bowl win over Duke was a huge win, right?

  16. USA's Matt Hayes is Not Hailing the Victors. Once a gold standard, Michigan football's response to NCAA violations shows it's just a common cheat WWW.USATODAY.COM The once proud Michigan football program is now your average NCAA cheat. And its excuses for breaking rules are laughable.

  20. Courtesy of Ducks Wire. "While the final game of the year may not have gone as Oregon fans hoped ...?" Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play? 🤪 Good old Ducks Wire. 24. Terrific take 30. How did this scheduling work out for the SEC last season? Why should it be different in 2025? Mizzou, again, has the easiest SEC in-conference schedule. Ole Miss also has an easy SEC schedule and plays Georgia State, Tulane, The Citadel, and Wazzu OCC with all games in Oxford. Like Texas, Ole Miss does have to trip to Athens this season with UGA looking for payback. Texas 2nd season in a row with a seat in 1st class and Oklahoma is again in the last row of coach next to the lavs. Texas opens at TOSU. Ohio State although ranked behind Texas in almost every top 25 preseason poll I have seen is a -3.5 home favorite. Oregon is ranked behind Penn State in most preseason polls but is -3.5 road favorite at Penn State.
  25. FanDuel Odds to Win the B1G, SEC, and ACC in 2025. The author likes Penn State in the B1G. He is concerned about the number of starters OBD has to replace. He's following the crowd as is FanDuel with liking Texas in the SEC. Texas has the same easy in-conference schedule in 2025 but it does include a visit to Athens, Georgia. With a repeat of the 2024 in-conference schedules, SEC teams at the top of the conference are again likely to beat up on one another and get beat up by 'lesser' SEC teams. It's doing the same thing over but we are likely to hear the same whining coming out of Dixie. The Texas at Ohio State opener featuring new QBs Archie Manning and Julian Sayin should be a heck of an opening game. Dabo and a roster that returns many key players is favored over Miami. Two tough OOC games for Dabo, opening with LSU at home and ending with a game at South Carolina. Clemson and Miami do not meet for the 2nd year in a row in the regular season. Like Clemson, Miami has two tough OOC games hosting Notre Dame and Florida. And FSU opens at home vs. Bama.
