Oregon Picks Up Another Receiver Transfer
He looks like a key get. Tall, lanky and definitely skill. Has endured injuries so also is older, brings maturity.

2022 Pac-12 Football Title Game Will Pit 2 Teams with Best Conference Record
Scheduling in the future will change as well, I believe, starting in 2023. Going to 8 conference games will be next, unless CA legislature passes that regulation requiring paying players. That would end Pac12 football as we know it in my opinion. This at least gives best chance for us to send a team to the natty invite.

Kickoff Time Set For Season Opener Against Georgia
Don't remember, but I read it in some article. I know you can get some on the secondary market for $$$.

New Hires by Ducks and Pac-12 Inspire Hope
One other thought about coach Lanning, it's been said that one measure of a man's greatness, is to measure the men who follow him. I believe we are all impressed with the men willing to work for DL.

Kickoff Time Set For Season Opener Against Georgia
Georgia was given 3x the number we were. So much for "neutral" location.

New Hires by Ducks and Pac-12 Inspire Hope
I want to add that the college football landscape may drastically change in a few years. We have noted many types of scenarios here for example. We may want to have that flexibility in negotiations down the road.

New Hires by Ducks and Pac-12 Inspire Hope
When I first heard about DL, I looked up everything I could find on him and his family. It all made me very excited and a big fan right out of the gate. He is hard working, dedicated, with high moral fiber and a man of integrity. Honest, straight forward and knows he has lots to learn, but is a willing student. Yet, a natural leader. He is also a person with apparently a very high football IQ. His decisions so far seem good. Only time will tell how good. And perhaps best of all, he seems genuinely willing to raise his family in Eugene for many years to come! With regards to GK, I don't think he had enough time to get input from all schools before the first decisions about playoff expansion or scheduling within the alliance. Making too hasty of a decision might have been worse. I don't want espn to have more sway than necessary in the playoffs. I know what we here at Fishduck want, but gotta get all the Universities on board. I think he is doing great at unifying the Pac12 for now. And with his Vegas and entertainment connections, I trust him to negotiate the best tv deal possible.

NIL World--It's a Full-Blown Race to the Bottom Now
I don't see Nike doing much with HS kids directly. Also, Nike does LOTS of other schools too. The NIL revenue will come from other boosters. Nike did something with Kayvon, but that was unique. Their big influence will be in connections with other businesses and their expertise in marketing.

Order never comes from chaos. There will be no clarity. Particularly if you expect congress to competently do something.

What is on YOUR Sports Bucket List?
Chargers in Atlanta Nov 9. Possible Mariota vs Herbert match up! That's a wish for me.

Agree? Lack of Playoff Expansion Helps SEC, Hurts College Football
I'd like a Natty, same as all Duck fans. But making that prize the all or nothing goal, is why college football has gone stale. The reality is only one of a handful of schools can win it each year, and it's always the same schools. No matter how many teams you add to a "playoff" we know in all likelihood it will end up being the same teams. And most fan bases realize this. I think that is why so few schools in the Pac12 are willing to enter the "arms race" for football supremecy. Same with the ACC and even the B1G. If only one or two schools really have a chance, why make such a financial commitment to chase it? The race for 1st has made all the bowl games meaningless. That hurts the fans. I used to love traveling in late Dec for some fun with other fans. Better yet if it was New Years. Now if we make the playoffs, which game do you go to? I'm sure if 12 teams make a playoff, more fans will be happy at first. But in the end, the same teams will win it all. This isn't bball. There will not be a "Cinderella". So, eventually, the playoffs will be stale. The desire to be #1 has made losing a single game the ruin of a season. We need to make football fun again. The mighty $$ is taking the fun out of it. I know winning is more fun than losing, but somehow we need to make the Natty a bonus, and not the main thing. Getting a good education. Learning to be a team player. Developing into good citizens. These are worthwhile goals and attainable at every school. These should be the main thing. I know I'm a "Pollyanna", but thanks for listening to my rant.

Better than a debt, though.

5-Star QB Jaden Rashada Visiting This Weekend
I see coach D just offered another qb, one that was liking the beavs. The kid got offered by UW also... I'm wondering if that means they think JR is going elsewhere? I guess we gotta cover all bases.

Time to Bump Black Uniforms and Stick to Official Oregon Colors?
Charles, you are RIGHT ON! The black uni's for football are OK once and awhile, but NEVER for the other sports. I do not like the black in hoops, softball, baseball, volleyball, or any other sports. (And while I'm here, I really loathe the pink.) It seems to me we lose too many big games wearing black (in all non-football sports). The storm trooper look is pretty sweet though... Great point about us being one of very few teams that wear green (and we do make that color look good!) so we should really emphasize it, ALL the time.

NCAA Oversight Committee: Ease Conference-Title-Game Requirements
Why only a 2 year window on roster adds? Sounds like they think transfers will slow down? Is that likely until the free run of NIL is somehow reigned in?

Seven Predictions for Oregon in 2022
He makes a great point about a week 1 loss. If it's not close, the pundits will write us off as not ready, young coach, etc. Look what was said about Clemson. Remember Chip's first year as head coach? A loss at Boise, but we finished great. Personally, if we don't suffer major injuries in the fall, I see game #1 against Georgia as being VERY entertaining!

Oregon’s QB1: Who Gets The Nod Week 1?
I see Ty leaving 1st. Jay already has used his red shirt.

Mariota is a Different Type of NFL Quarterback.
He is a class act. A man of integrity. I hope he has success this year!

Oregon’s QB1: Who Gets The Nod Week 1?
Great article Alex, The questions we are all thinking. If it wasn't for the portal, I would be very happy with those 3 qb's. But the fear of losing one or two gives the decision of who starts much more significance in our eyes. What they all need is game experience, and only one can get that. Being able to read a defense at game speed and make good decisions takes game experience. I think both Ty and Butters could be great, but how to get opportunities to develop? I've always liked Butterfield. Great arm, accurate, throws a very catchable ball. He can run well enough (see Herbert's runs in his last 2 games as a Duck). He's a smart kid, and smarts helped JH a lot. But unless he can separate himself somehow this fall, the start has to go to Nix. He alone has the experience, and hopefully he will make the right decisions.

Overreactions in College Football? Shocking!
If you must play the defending National Champion first game of the year, then doing so after losing 15 starters has to help...at least a little, maybe. I'd say we got 'em right where we want 'em!! 😆 🤣 lol

NCAA Prevails in Lawsuit Versus Brenner
I agree that NCAA wasn't responsible for practice, but I think they could regulate intensity levels like they do with wearing pads. And workouts should never be designed around punishment. I'm disappointed that neither coach was held accountable. Who else would be?!
