"Vast Improvement over last year" I would agree this season was a "vast improvement" from an entertainment standpoint, the games were high scoring and a lot more fun to watch. But... At this point last season we were 10-2 ( one win better) and heading to a pac-12 championship game. We also had a win, on the road, over the 3rd ranked team in the nation, Ohio St. Mario was boring, but he did get us a Rose Bowl win and 2 pac-12 titles. I think he deserves a little more credit for those accomplishments. I'd be happy if Lanning could get us 2 pac-12 titles and a Rose Bowl win in the next 4 seasons.

IF Oregon wins out, then they only need two of these 3 teams to lose a game. I believe all 3 will lose which makes it even more likely we get in. LSU lose to Texas A&M or Georgia. (Very Likely) TCU lose to Iowa St or Kansas ST (coin flip) Clemson lose to South Carolina Or North Carolina (Likely, South Carolina looked great against Tennessee ) -
A two loss pac-12 champ, Oregon, could still make the CFP. Here's the only help they would need: LSU to lose to Georgia Clemson to lose to either UNC or South Carolina That's it and we are in, I believe. The rankings would be 1) Georgia 2) Ohio St or Michigan 3) TCU The 4th spot would be a debate between A one loss non champ Ohio St or Michigan. A two loss non champ Alabama. And our Ducks a two loss Pac 12 champion. With the strength of the Pac 12 this season the Ducks will win this debate. Wins over ranked opponents Michigan 2 Ohio St 3 Alabama 2 Oregon 4 This projection doesn't even take into account That TCU could lose to Kansas ST in the Big 12 title which would open up another spot! Keep the hope alive DUCK fans and get healthy NIX!!

Oregon/Georgia GameDay Thread!

0 pass rush just like I thought as long as we beat the Huskies and make a bowl I’ll be happy. 7-5 here we come! -
Good article thanks for posting! i think the game plays out that way except for flowe and Noah will hold up better in pass coverage than he thinks. so instead of giving up 45 points I’m thinking mid thirties.

So You're Saying There's a Chance...

I disagree that we have upgraded across the board. Our coaches are unproven, so right now it is a push . Lanning=Crisobal Qb Upgrade Nix/Ty > Anthony Brown RB Downgrade Dye Verdell > 5 unproven backs we don't even know who the lead guy is. OL Upgrade 1 more year of experience and added 5 star Connerly WR Downgrade Pittman Devon Williams JJ3 and Redd > Hutson, Seven, Franklin, Thornton, Coda, Chapman (Prove it first, These guys have done very little at the college level) TE Upgrade Matavao and Ferguson are a year older. Dline Push Lost Thibbs but added a lot of depth at tackle. LB Upgrade Sewell older and a healthy Flowe. Bassa more experienced and added weight. Safety Downgrade Lost McKinley everyone else the same. CB Push DJ James and Wright are big losses, but Gonzalez was a huge pickup. -
Biggest Confidence On the Field This Week

I sure hope you are correct! Funa Swinson and DJ Johnson are so critical in providing a pass rush. Their development, I believe, is the difference between a 7-5 or 8-4 season if they disappoint. Or 10-2 11-1 if they excel. -

I have more confidence in our defense than our offense for sure. weakness on our defense is a lack of proven pass rushers kavon Thibbs is gone. dj Johnson was awesome rushing the passer in our spring game but I gotta see it in a real game before I’m sold free safety is also a weak spot verone McKinley is gone and we have a converted wr playing that spot in Braylon Addison our starting cornerbacks (manning and Gonzales) should be good but there is no proven depth behind them -
Bassa has worked hard on his body this off-season. From the pictures from the first day of camp he looks much bigger! I like our d tackles and linebackers for sure, my only worry is the pass rush. Swinson, Funa, and DJ are key to this season. Right now I think our pass rush will be average at best, I hope I’m wrong,
