It is a matchup against coaches, end of story. Deboer got the best of Lanning two years in a row. He owns Lanning until otherwise noted.

The question I have is can Lanning beat Deboer? I have no doubt the odds are on our side, but odds don't play, nor coach.

The saying it's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Johnny's and Joe's is wrong. It is about the the X's and O's, but mostly about Kalen and Dan that make the difference.

I don't think this is entirely true. I do agree that Lanning played a big part in the loss at Mont Lake. Keep in mind Lanning has coached 26 games in his career, DeBoer 115ish.

But there were other factors involved. Last year Nix took a submarine, lead with the helmet, hit to his legs. Lanning had nothing to do with that, Debore... IDK. Yes Lanning played a roll in last years loss but its not all on Lanning.

This year Ducks couldn't make a FG and Nix didn't execute on some 4th downs. Mostly the one that would have iced that game. That was on Nix. If Bo doesn't  lock in on Franklin it's a first down and Ducks kneel out for the win.

But this team, including Lanning seems to have gotten better from those mistakes. We will find out on Fri.

  2. "We need to Savor..."

This gets brought up a ton here. I agree with the statement. But I think it's what we do here at OBDF by default. Participating actively on this or any forum is "savoring the moment" in my opinion.

I work long hard grueling hours. There are two things I "savor" more than anything. Fall Saturdays and the time I get playing guitar. I cherish both equally.

I want so much more out of this season, but to me, this season has already become a huge success. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Beat the Husky and the rest is gravy. Whatever happens after that is the cherry on top. I will be satisfied.

I believe the Corners (OBD) get beat here and there, but not to the degree they did before.

I agree, I don't think the corners will be as stressed though. Looking at how Dorlus and especially Burch have played the last few games, the corners won't need to cover as long.

I think Penix is in trouble this game. Pocket is going to get stressed with LB and safetys coming hard inside. I don't think Husky guards will hold up. Penix is going to get punished.

And now I'm feeling more respect for Charles' fear that somehow the PAC-12 and specifically the Ducks could get left out of the playoffs. The Fuskies are now in the top 4 and , should they win on Friday, are in. I personally believe that the Ducks are in with a win as well but it is humans who make these decisions which, sometimes don't leave us with the best four teams. Sunday morning I watched the College Football Final.  wrap-up on ESPN and two of the three commentators had Oregon among their first two out of the playoffs.  These guys also saw a path to the dance for Ohio State. And unbelievably, according to the ESPN computer, the Bucks remained above Michigan on their little power index. wth!

Oregon has received enough Buzz during the latter part of the season that many people other than Duck partisans expect the Ducks to be selected should they win on Friday. That makes me feel better but, remember, it is humans who make these selections and do what they do for any number of reasons.

I see the SEC Championship game as a play-in to the playoffs, and I bet that Kirby is sending those vibes to his team. This is the way it should be, particularly in a year where there are more than four deserving teams meriting consideration. But I have read three headlines over the past two days, probably written as clickbait, implying that what we think we know about selections may become chaotic should Alabama win the game against Georgia on Saturday. Again, these headlines may all be clickbait, but as an Oregon fan, I'd suggest that we all become Dawg fans for a day on Saturday (no problem for me) so the above doesn't unfold.

I think most Duck fans are also Dawg fans. Huge respect for UGA  partly due to the Lanning hire. OBDF members, imo, are Dawg fans because of UGA OBDF members like you and SoGaDawg.

    Go Ducks!

    Go real Dawgs!

  5. My opinion was the husky loss was a good loss. I commented such within the day of that loss. It is still my opinion.

Now that the season has played out, it is obvious just how valuable that loss was. Ducks have done nothing but whats necessary to avenge that loss.

The lessons learned from losing to Husky would otherwise not been learnt. At this point, Ducks look like the Best team in the nation.

My opinion is that would not be the case if Ducks would have won that game. Every player has gotten better. Individually and as a team. Most importantly, I can't emphasize this enough, Dan Lanning has gotten better.

Ducks are something different, they are a special unit. That wouldn't have happened if the season played out differently imo.

I'm short on time to do this myself, but if one or more people here could help to do the following it could make a difference in Bo's Heisman voting:

    Step 1:

Watch you tube summary video (there is typically a 25 minute game summary video) on every game Bo played and document time of game for Bo's last play, where Ty Thompson came in and relieved him the next series.

Step 2: write downs Bo's stats for each game:

    Total yards passing

    Total yards rushing

    Total completions

    Total touchdowns

    Total Interceptions

    Step 3:

Multiple each games stats x 60 divided by total game minutes played

    Step 4

Add each games playing time adjusted stats for a regular season playing time adjusted (extrapolated) stats.

Step 5: Do the same for JD if he was ever pulled early during a blowout.

Step 6: compare playing time adjusted (extrapolated) regular season stats.

    Step 7:

Post comparison of playing time adjusted stats as Twitter replies to major post as a Twitter reply to a major networks Twitter posts on Bo vs. Daniels Heisman comparisons.

    Step 8:

Send complete analysis to Oregon beat Twitter Posters like Geoff Schwartz, so they can independently verify and send out as well.

The 2023 NCAAF season stats per game for Bo Nix of the Oregon Ducks on ESPN...

Not really my strong suit figuring this stuff out but here is Nix stats for each game
