  1. I'm not on board with that. Next thing they'll want poles in the locker room.
  2. Plus, both teams get a win. But the bigger question remains . . . . Do they then have to kiss their sister? "NC State did get a trophy for the bowl game and the contest will count as a win in the school’s record books, at least." College Football Head Coach Blasts NCAA, ‘No Clue At All’ (msn.com)
  3. 51 - 49 Ducks in OT, not sure how many. 2 TOs 1 sack 165 yds Happy New Year to all and thank you in advance for hoping I get my second win of the year.
  4. As a former attorney, I advise you to round up and retire earlier than me!
  5. Ouch, gonna need therapy to remove that image.
  6. Remember when everyone wanted him to take the Florida gig so he wouldn't be back in the Pac 12 as an opponent. That actually worked out pretty well.
  7. I agree with the above that even a 5 figure NIL for the bowl game would not get KT or any other potential top pick out of bed. Oh, and that rabbit hole, we have been looking up ever since the BCS was formed. Emmert took us so deep that we can't even see daylight above.
  8. Give him jiggle, his contact info is above in Log Haulin's post.
  9. I'd give him the first Qtr period as a reward for his efforts this year. Then bring in the future regardless.
  10. Agreed, except Feb might be a pleasant sneak peck with who might be saved from MC's class, who we can steal from Georgia, and what the newbie coaches bring
  11. Appreciate your thoughts. I'll put a good non-coal word in for you with Santa for next year.
  12. "Sure, Cristobal was one of the more impactful figures in recent memory for the Ducks, and his individual skill set can’t be replicated." Yes, Mario was impactful and he did leave the program better than he found it for which I am happy. So, I'm assuming the "skill set" you are referring to is recruiting. Otherwise, the only other skill set of his we want to keep is his work ethic (the non-I'm-outta-of-here ethic). I think we'll know in early February how good Lanning is at trying to duplicate the recruiting success and if he can, then we won't miss MC at all. However, I am pessimistic about both a good game out of the Ducks and a W as I'm afraid we will see another Utonian effort. I can only hope OU duplicates that type of effort, then we'll have a game.
  13. I guess they thought San Diego was "the woods".
  14. Holy crap, we have a game tomorrow!
  15. And, flashing three Super Bowl rings in living rooms can't hurt!
  16. And coach them up. Having a Thibs in your ear is a good thing.
  17. I'm going to say "yes". 1) They "stayed" with the program until the end of their college careers. The fact that they have a chance to make the NFL, then they shouldn't jeopardize their future for a somewhat meaningless game. So far, we haven't seen any player opt-out of a playoff game (yet). 2) We want to foster a good relationship with alums. Well, these alums are our highest profile alums and they shouldn't be shunned. It is not a good look to recruits to see a school turn their back on players who are doing what is best for their post college livelihood. 3) They will be seen on the sidelines during the game and it will be a positive to have the announcers talking about these NFL bound players on OUR sideline.
  18. I'm going to say just two for now. I think the Alliance was a good idea. It kept the ACC, Big10 and the Pac 12 from cannibalizing each other AND took away some clout the SEC had in regard to no longer having the biggest voting block in college football. Keeping a fifth power five with a bit more hatred for the SEC than the rest of us helps too. Also, with a scheduling alliance, once the playoffs are expanded to include the conference winners, there will be more teams willing to have crossover games like the OSU Duck game this year without ruining playoff hopes. Plus, more basketball cross scheduling will be both a fan interest win and a competition win for getting ready for March/April madness.
  19. More like a Burger King crown, a tiara at least has some value and looks decent.
  20. At first, I thought he might have survived had he not shoved Fuavai, but this seems to indicate otherwise. Dang, I was looking forward to years of prowess under Lake. How UW Football Bottomed Out Under Jimmy Lake (msn.com)
  21. I hope to see "the Lanning way", a combination of the Ducks legacy and the "2021 cards" that we are dealt, ie full use of relentless recruiting, NIL, & transfer portal. We all know Mario AND his staff were master recruiters. If Lanning and company are near as good, then we can assume an upward trajectory as we can also assume better game management with proper training/development and use of the players, play calling, and that little matter of CLOCK MANAGEMENT. Mario plateaued, no doubt. Playoffs = absolutely Natty = one can only hope. I remember when, from my time ('68 on), the Rose Bowl was pretty much a pipe dream. Hell, any bowl game was in the 60's, 70's and 80's. That first Rose Bowl, I told my wife this was a once in a lifetime event and I had to go. I started driving down I-5 without a ticket or place to stay. Within an hour of arriving at the official Duck hotel, I had both. I have never been happier that the Ducks made me out to be such a liar. It is now time for onward and upward.
  22. 10,000 degrees and climbing in Montlake, where it never freezes over (unlike Autzen where, well you know).
  23. A wise philosopher once said, "May all Ducks fans prosper and live long enough to see the Ducks get ahead in the series, AND no dog supports are alive that have lived when they were relevant."
  24. Golden Rule, Schadenfreuding the huskies is allowed 24/7/365 and occasionally 366. (And yes, I had to look it up, but so did Lake)
