  1. Ducks offense will be just fine.

We all have questions about filling player positions that have been vacated. That is part of what makes college football so entertaining. It will take time playing together for the new players to gel as a team.

Remember our start last year? That was some ugly football.

I once again expect that they will struggle, and get better as the season goes on.

  2. The Matt probably would not have happened without our influential boosters. For financing they were forced to build a multi-purpose arena that could generate revenue outside of basketball. They overstated the potential revenue, and got the needed financing.

Without a multi -purpose arena they would never have received the financing, and not many of us can influence the State to lend us the money required. There is more to building and financing these deals then making all the fans happy.

The alternative was to have our alumni raise substantially more money.

So maybe they gave us a mini-van instead of the sports car that was wanted. I am not complaining.

  3. I enjoy basketball, but most of the Duck fan base that live in the Portland metro area wont buy season tickets. Season ticket holders are really the backbone of attendance numbers.

Driving at night in winter conditions takes away the appeal of attending games regularly.

When they put in the proposed Cascadia high-speed rail project between Seattle and Eugene, that will be a game changer.

Transportation officials also proposed a new bridge over the Columbia river 35 years ago, and are finally expecting to start construction in 2026.

The wheels of progress turn rather slowly.

  4. Dante appears to be an NFL style drop back QB. He has apparently been impressive in practice, but needs to regain his confidence as “the guy” in an actual game.

I think our QB’s can all be productive, but everyone will find out who will shine after 4 or 5 games.

They all need experience, and while practice is important, nothing replaces the pressure of a tightly contested game.

  5. I guess that change is inevitable.

The transfer portal does need better oversight, but interfering with a players ability to transfer may have legal repercussions.

In my opinion, only when there is a player tampering case that actually carries substantial penalties, will things change.  Losing a player to another team strictly because of NIL, or playing opportunities, is not tampering.

Some coaches may accuse others of tampering, but it seems they will need substantial evidence to bring forth a legitimate complaint.

The point spread is based on the expectation of how many bettors will put down money for a particular team.  OBD having a smaller fan base will garner fewer bets.  This opinion comes from a source who has never made a bet through a sports book.

It is all about the betting cash flow.

However, most of the bets will be from non-Duck/tosu fans that lay action on these games. It is virtually a pick-em game between the two teams.

Odds makers are in cahoots with the sports books, and set odds/monellines that will profit the sports books. The moneyline is approximately -132 tosu, and +115 for the Ducks. Add the implied winning probabilities together and it is approximately 104%.

  7. Price of admission if you want good seats. I never minded paying aftermarket for good seats. The tickets you get through the University are cheap for a reason…not that many good seats.

I always expected to pay premium prices.

Btw…every bowl game I have gone to, including both Natty’s, tickets were always available outside the stadium for reasonable prices.

Many times I have sat in the midst of enemy territory…lol

  8. Always give the BIG and SEC conference champions byes, then seed everyone else by ranking.

Does anyone truly believe ASU, and BSU should be awarded top 4 seeds?

Based on AP poll…#1 Oregon plays winner of BSU vs Ind

#2 Georgia plays winner T vs ASU

#3 ND.       Plays winner tOSU vs. Clemson
#4 Texas.  Plays winner PSU vs SMU

That bracket appears to make more sense to me.

Dan Lanning doesn't make excuses when his team loses...he compliments the other team and then figures out what HE needs to do to make the program better (e.g., upgrade the entire roster after the Georgia loss, improve the run defense after the OSU loss, add more secondary talent and improve game time decisions after the UW loses).

Day, Franklin and Mario will never get better, IMO, because they always blame others for their losses, instead of looking internally on how they and their teams could improve.

“You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

    You are 100% correct.

I also noticed that Franklin spoke about how well his guys played against the #1 team in the nation, then subsequently talked about their turnovers being the reason they lost. I felt like he threw his QB under the bus.

Anyone who has played team sports would respect a coach for stating that he needs to find a way to get better, instead, Franklin points out perceived inequities, and the teams mistakes.

I think the difference between DL, and the coaches you mention is ego. DL knows that getting better starts with himself…how refreshing.

  10. That question seems loaded.

ASU looks great this year in the BIG12. That conference is so bad that Colorado looked like a CFP contender for awhile.

Depends on how each can recruit. Right now ASU recruiting is barely top 50 for 2025 class. That might win in the BIG12, but you are not playing for a conference championship in the SEC, or BIG with those recruits.

  11. The BIG will probably consistently have 2 to 3 elite teams, and a few others that are dangerous to play on the road. The schedule could literally have you play all the elite teams, or none.

I think for the foreseeable future ( based on recruiting), Oregon, tOSU, Michigan, and Penn State will be amongst the elite, and the dangerous teams will change from year to year.

It does seem that once you get up by two scores on some teams in the BIG, the game is pretty much over. Probably, because of our defense this year, but in the PAC 12, a two possession lead didn’t seem that comfortable.

  12. I look at the offensive stats that Oregon put up against tOSU, and Michigan, two of the stronger defenses in the BIG, and it looks like our offense rises to the occasion.

The offense had 496 yards against the bucknuts, and 470 yards on the angry weasels.

If DG has an above average day we win by a comfortable margin, on an average day, then the game probably stays close.
