  1. QBs that have proven themselves in big games and shown consistency are valuable. While Cam Ward is a good QB, I think a QB that has both mobility and accuracy are what moves the chains in college football.

If projections of the transfer to Oregon are correct, then we have a veteran QB that can win games against tough competition.

  2. Cup half full outlook.

Down 20 - 3 early and the Ducks finally got it going. With momentum on our side, the Ducks were just 25 hundredths of a second from creating a fumble that could have turned the game.

That is the difference when teams are so evenly matched.

I think in the end that DL’s ability to recruit will separate him from DeBoer. Without top players year in and year out, Deboer will struggle against the Ducks, tOSU, Michigan, and Penn State. (USC ??)

The number of playoff potential teams in the BIG will make for some exciting games. Not much room for error going forward.

  3. If you travel to enough games you will encounter great fans, and not so great fans for both teams.

I love the atmosphere of “the big game” and most people are fairly well behaved. However, there are always a few people who apparently decide that straight shots are the drink of the day.

Many times, these are also the guys that want to let everyone know their opinion.

Hope everyone’s game day avoids that guy…lol

  4. Moore bailed on Oregon after we picked up Nix from the transfer portal. He now is bailing on UCLA after throwing 11 TDs and 9 INTs. With those numbers he must know that he is going to be viewed as a project.

Nobody will just hand him the job as a starter?  At least, nobody worthwhile.

The jump from high school to national prominence as UCLA’s starting QB was always going to be a huge stretch. He should have done a little more research on UCLA’s returning roster.

I can’t say that I am overly impressed with decisions he has made on, or off the field.

  5. Top recruits want to go to a coach and program that is building something worthwhile. Deion tore down a team that won 1 game and turned them into a 4 game winner.

I would have had more respect if he had won 4 games with players that he publicly berated and pushed out of the program. At least it would give him more credibility as a coach.

Contrast the way that Johnathan Smith rebuilt OSU. Smith quietly rebuilt a program that was in a similar situation. No media circus, just solid coaching.

Recruits are now having doubts about the commitment that Deion has to the Colorado football program.

    Good luck with that Ralphie.

  6. Red Zone scoring is much more important if you are rarely in the red zone over the course of a season.

What is interesting to note is that Oregon State and Colorado both lead Oregon statistically in red zone scoring percentage. OSU has 42 red zone attempts and have scored 41 times, while Colorado has 38 attempts with 37 scores.

So far this year Oregon has had 63 red zone attempts with 55 scores. 48 touchdowns, 7 field goals, and 8 times came away without a score.

Washington has 58 attempts and scored 49 times. 41 touchdowns, 8 field goals, and 9 times did not score.

I say let’s get into the red zone and let Nix do his job, and when necessary, kick the field goal.

  7. Nix is such a great story. He has endeared himself to Oregon fans with his play on the field.

USC failing to be relevant…once again…is the gift that keeps on giving.

Chip packed his bags and chased his dream of coaching in the NFL. After his NFL stint UCLA quickly found out that recruiting is not one of his strengths.

Good memories of Chip while he was at Oregon, but that ship sailed long ago.

  8. That puppy fan is like the male Cicada. The male nymphs crawl out of the ground once every 13 to 17 years, and makes obnoxious sounds.

That will be about how long that guy will have to wait to brag about his team again based on their coaches ability to recruit.

Seems to me like the legal counsels at the 10 departing PAC-12 schools were either asleep at the wheel or otherwise were not consulted before the respective institutions bolted.

There literally was not time to advise anything different. Delaying Oregon’s move to the BIG was not going to be held up by legal counsel wanting time to review all exposure to risk.

OSU and WSU were simply granted voting rights control of the conference assets and liabilities. Any vote to keep all media monies earned by the conference for themselves will be challenged in court.

OSU and WSU are hoping for favorable court rulings to soften the catastrophic reduction of media income they will receive.

Oregon on the other hand could take a short term hit, but recover quickly. I like our position much better.

  10. Benny’s kids have found out they were too slow to grab a chair when the music stopped. The rodents applaud themselves as the “little engine that could”, but that folktale teaches kids that optimism AND hard work can pay off.

They are laughably optimistic, but reality has punched them squarely in the face regarding how others perceive their overall worth.

Their hopes rest on the abilities of attorneys stealing $$$$ from schools that propped them up for years. I don’t know how that will end, but in the world of right and wrong…it still theft at its highest level.

  11. There are definitely websites that use pop up ads that make them virtually unusable. Just touching the screen to scroll should not create chaos for the viewer of an article.

I have given up on trying to read many articles just because of the advertising pop ups. I make it a point to never buy what is being advertised because of the mental anguish…lol

I don’t mind scrolling. However, I hate being constantly jettisoned to another website if a pop up ad is accidentally touched, and the instability of the website that they create.

  12. Hard to believe that a defense can be that bad. The team looks like they quit on their coach.

One thing for certain is that it will take a lot of NIL $$$ to sign any highly touted defensive recruit at USC. Their boosters have already whiffed on buying a highly touted coach.

Are they willing to reach deeper into their pockets and try to buy a team for their overpaid coach?

  13. Players are simply demonstrating the physicality that their coach insists will win games.

Watching Mario field tough questions after a loss of this type is very entertaining. He always has that knitted brow look and never has good answers.

I honestly don’t understand how he recruits so well.

  14. A top QB certainly helps make a coaches job easier. In my opinion, Mario gets big money from Miami primarily because Justin Herbert had the talent to overcome a very predictable offense.

Coach Stein gets attention because Bo Nix is currently killing it. The question I have is can Stein duplicate this level of success with an inexperienced QB?

If Stein does that, then he earns a spot amongst the top OC’s in Oregon history.

The STATE does not need a non self sufficient and under supported athletic department.

There are over 250 division 1 colleges. There are about 25 each year that are able to fully fund their athletic departments budget. College athletics generates billions of dollars, with billions of dollars of expenses.

There is an economic impact associated with that type of money movement.

Personally, I believe giving $30million to OSU is a big rock being thrown to a drowning man.

I certainly would not give them the monies out of compassion. It is 100% a business decision.

But, I am willing to listen to what they project that those monies will do for them and make a decision on facts and projections of future revenues.

I just don't get all the posts of concern for OAC athletics from people on here.  What do they add?  Do people enjoy paying taxes that go support a dying entity?

Those statements were made about Oregon when I attended the University. The beginning of the Rich Brooks era of football was very sketchy at best. We could beat Portland State and the Rodents…that was pretty much it for a few years.

Our first bowl game game in almost thirty years was the independence bowl in 1989 and we were ecstatic to get the invite.

OSU is a State institution, first and foremost, letting it drown does not help the state of Oregon.  At times there is a need to help the neighbor, even though you may not like them.

I think the business decision comes down to what $30 million does for OSU, and is there some type of return that can be expected, or are we just throwing a heavy rock to a drowning man?
