  1. If the reports that the university presidents were pushing for $50 Mil per year are to be believed, and their historical actions lends to it being true, clearly the collapse sits solely on the university presidents. Surely, the AD's knew $50 Mil was a pipedream and they had to be telling them that number was a moonshot! I agree with WIlner, we need a 30 for 30 on it. Maybe the university presidents should stick to what they know academics and leave the business of sports to the professionals in the Athletic Department, after Sport Management is one of the hottest degrees in college now! Why? Because sports is big money, which is something an academic clearly isn't trained to handle. I am sure the presidents listen to the accountants when they determine the cost per credit hour, they should have listened to the AD's and likely GK that they weren't going to get more than $35-40 Mil.
  2. Sounds a lot like fans that are worried they will get their lunch handed to them.
  3. Don't care if they aren't in the B1G! There can be a western pod with Nebraska & Iowa.
  4. Larry Scott is only 1/2 of the equation! The other 1/2 is the university presidents! They hold the power, they could have told Larry you will contract with ESPN, Fox or whomever, but they didn't. This should be a lesson that Ph.D's that burry their noses in books on theory most of their lives are clueless on how the real world works!
  5. I tell my kids all the time, you snap your fingers and you've been out of college for 30 years, so appreciate your youth and realize that it goes quickly.
  6. Now it's time for the remaining PAC members to go poach from other conferences best teams that makes geographic sense. While some of the schools aren't necessarily the best on the field, they are important markets, which is why UNLV makes it, because the conference will also move to Nevada and out of their glass tower in SF. There are already rivalries with the old PAC schools. SDSU & FSU are rivals, Tulsa & SMU are close enough to have a Baby Bedlam of their own. Boise & Utah State are very close. CSU gets in to get the Denver market. UNLV & UNR are rivals too. This would be more compelling than the Mountain West because you have UTSA, which is up and coming, Tulsa and SMJ are good as well. UNLV has a new facility to play in and the conference tournament is held there. Present this to Sleepy George, free of charge because it isn't right that OSU & WAZZU should be left out, don't much care for the snobs at Cal or the Trees, but they can add value to a new PAC. OSU WAZZU Cal Stanford SDSU Fresno State UNR UNLV UTSA SMU Tulsa Colorado State Boise State Utah State
  7. For guys like Michael Van Buren this is going to be huge because he's a B-more native. While I am not saying he isn't capable, St. Francis has quite a few people that are single and double reclass players and their line is massive and he's a little guy at 5'11". St. Francis was booted from the MIAA because they were pulling kids from all over the place when Poggi was the head coach. It's kind of like travel baseball teams that pull kids from across the country to play in Perfect Game tournaments, playing against teams made up of local talent. So, playing behind a line like his is a huge benefit, hoping it translates to college. The move can only help with PA, OH and other B1G footprint talent.
  8. The Big 10 has come out with it's new logo!.
  9. ,Oops, forgot SU & UCLA. SC: 77,500 maybe a few less if shots are fired. Rose Bowl: 92,542 excluding the port-a-potty's!
  10. It's time to finish Autzen Stadium. Even if Autzen is finished to it's maximum capacity, it would only be #9 in capacity, but it would clearly be the jewel of the Big 10 in terms of age and modern-day comforts. Michigan Wolverines Michigan Stadium 109,901 Penn State Nittany Lions Beaver Stadium 106,572 Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio Stadium 102,329 Nebraska Cornhuskers Memorial Stadium 81,067 Wisconsin Badgers Camp Randall Stadium 80,321 Michigan State Spartans Spartan Stadium 75,005 Iowa Hawkeyes Kinnick Stadium 70,585 Washington Huskeys Huskey Stadium 70,083 Purdue Boilermakers Ross Ade Stadium 62,500 llinois Fighting Illini Memorial Stadium 60,670 Maryland Terrapins Byrd Stadium 54,000 Oregon Ducks Autzen Stadium 54,000 Indiana Hoosiers Memorial Stadium 52,959 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Rutgers Stadium 52,454 Minnesota Golden Gophers TCF Bank Stadium 50,805 Northwestern Wildcats Ryan Field 47,130
  11. It is pretty safe to say that UO is as much Nike U as it is Oregon. After hearing what the ASU alums were saying about canceling season tickets and financial contributions, how likely is it that Phil Knight laid down the law and put out an ultimatum to bolt, 50-50, 60-40? My guess is it's at least 75% and with less revenue from the media and if PK were to pull a bunch of money, that just wasn't going to happen.
  12. Would you rather see the school’s athletic department fall further behind and wind up going into the red? Be a realist, you would leave your current job if you were offered a $50K raise, this is no different
  13. Please tell me the Piled Higher & Deeper knuckleheads aren't going to just postpone the inevitable! As much as I wanted the PAC to stay together, it makes no sense to be on a streaming- only service. I won't subscribe. How did the DirectTV thing go? So, the PAC stays together for another 5-7 years, then what? If they split now, they will make more money and not fall further behind, even if you only get partial shares for awhile. Damn mutts, they had to start whining about not getting enough money. If this thing falls apart and the conference lags behind financially and eventually collapses, every president should be tossed and lose their fat pensions that the people of each state pay!
  14. The Twitter, oops, X posts have fans saying they will withdraw their season tickets and donations if Crow doesn't figure it out and jump ship! Why is it that everybody else can see the writing on the wall, but the knuckleheads with their Piled Higher & Deeper degrees are clueless. Back in 2021, Crow got an 8% raise to $770K per year. If he wants to keep his cushy job and cocktail party lifestyle, he'd better get with the program because the fan base has the #FIRECROW movement going.
  15. If Canzano is trying to make UO the scapegoat, that’s nothing new, he’s always been a somewhat UO hater!
  16. Apple giving the PAC12 a deadline, that’s comical! Apple is not running this ship, Fox etal. are!
  17. UA is gone, which will open the floodgates and that will signal the end of the conference.
  18. It looks like U Spoiled Children is now U Soiled Children because they seem to be @rapping themselves at the thought of Oregon in the B1G.
  19. Media companies aren't solely to blame. Each university is looking out for their bottom line too and I think the only reason Oregon is a potential pick up for the B1G is because Phil Knight almost single-handedly built them into one of the best athletic programs money can buy; otherwise, I think Oregon would be in a similar boat as OSU & WAZZU because Eugene is no large market.
  20. I don't think there is anybody out there who is an alumnus of a PAC-12 university that ever wanted the PAC to go the way of Western Athletic Conference, which is now a hull of it's former self and no original members. The death of the conference really started when the conference didn't add BYU with Utah. Having gone to both Oregon and BYU, no student body wanted into the PAC more than BYU and it would have kept the natural in-state rivalries that all of the other conference schools have. Expansion with Colorado at the same time could have included Colorado State, which has sound academics and could have improved its football brand in a better conference. Then, when aTm & MIZZOU took off rather than focusing on Texas so much, OU & OSU may have been willing to split. The lack of a proper media rights deal has stuck a fork in the conference and as soon as the Big 12 pulls the trigger on the 4-corners schools, the B1G will come in and scoop up what they want and they can claim they weren't responsible for collapsing the conference because the media rights and Big 12 stuck the fork into the felit, carved out a large chunk and the B1G decided to throw a lifeline to the schools that were left that they want. I hope OSU & WAZZU are able to move into one of the power conferences because both schools are better add more value athletically to a conference than Vandy adds to the SEC outside of baseball.
  21. You can't blame UT, they were looking out for their best interest and the PAC never had them, period! It's not like they had UT and then the LHN came in and UT backed out. Blame Larry Scott for the demise of the PAC!
  22. I believe the word free throw means nobody guarding you when you shoot. Oregon shot 33% from the line. If they shoot a poor 66% they win the game! It just sickened me to watch a game given away because of poor free throw shooting. Wisconsin shot 92% from the line, 8 point swing in free throws!
  23. Too late, stick a fork in the PAC-12. It’s an inside job, like it always is 9as Don Henley’s song says). Kliavkoff is a plant how else could this fall apart so easily? Big 12 will go after SDSU and SMU if they have a killer instinct, that’s exactly what I would do.
  24. The recent developments with the 4 corner schools and the Big 12 wouldn’t be happening if Kliavkoff was able to close the deal. He needs to stop worrying about streaming and focus on the big two cable sports outlets. If I were in other conferences and wanted to sabotage the PAC-12 I’d put one of my people in to attack it from within. If I’m the Big 12 commissioner, I go after SDSU and SMU while I’m at it and finish off the PAC-12’s ability to expand their footprint.
  25. It’s difficult to watch this team. Altman hasn’t had a team like this since his first year. I don’t see this team getting to 20 wins, a first for an Altman team. The play is so sloppy and the question of do you you have good decision making Will or bad decision making Will always keeps you on the edge of your seat. 7’0” 215 isn’t going to dominate inside. Nate needs to get in the weight room and put on 30 of muscle before next season. I feel for Altman because the sloppy turnovers are not typical of an Altman team.
