  1. I am still basking in the glow of this incredible, STATEMENT win that OBD delivered to the entire world of college football. "Instant classic" is the phrase I see being bounced around in the national media. It is a credit to the Duck program and Dan Lanning that there isn't as much shock at the win as there is "Yeah, this is what were expecting to see from the Ducks". Clearly, the consensus is that OBD belong and and they have no ceiling. Alas, the performance of the other former Pac-12 may lead the B1G commissioners to ask for a Mulligan! UCLA is 0-4 in conference, 1-5 overall USC is 1-3 in conference, 3-3 overall Washington is 2-2 in conference, 4-3 overall All three are in the bottom half of the conference and none are ranked nationally. If you peruse the fan forums of these teams (except for UCLA, haven't found any fans yet), they are looking to blame their lack of success on anything from the travel, to the refs (apparently the B1G refs suck more than Pac-12 refs when you lose), to moon phases, and whatever else they can fathom. The bottom line is that these three teams are just not good. They lack the level of talent in all phases to compete at the higher level. They may have some incredible skill position guys but as OBD proved, it takes those guys all across the board to compete! But let's lay the blame where it belongs. The coaching. Fisch is NOT the guy for Washington, but who else is gonna go there? Foster is in over his head at UCLA, but he should get another year at least. My thoughts on Riley are pretty easy to find on this forum. Until these teams get a guy like DL, their success will be limited. But don't take my word for it. Take the word of a USC fan watching Penn State come roaring back to beat the Trojans:
  2. Open letter to USC fans: Dan Lanning is a better coach than Lincoln Riley. Change our mind. Lots of love, Duck Fans
  3. And let the Husky Howling begin!!!
  4. I don't have words for why they didn't review that
  5. But this is USC. 45 points should have been enough to beat Tulane.
  6. This is a great article on why USC is failing. Yep, they are saying "failing". They don't think Riley should be fired, but they lay most of the blame on Riley for not fixing the defense earlier, for not recruiting well, and for not bringing in elite talent in the transfer portal. Well, news flash: players want to go to elite programs and that has NOT been USC for a long time. If there is further evidence that Oregon lives rent free, under the heading of "The Truth About Lincoln Riley", the writer says "Riley wasted the 2023 season, and that wasted year put USC well behind Oregon in recruiting and portal acquisitions." Bwahahahahahaha!!!!! Lincoln Riley hot seat talk is ridiculous, but USC is playing catch-up TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It is ridiculous to think Lincoln Riley should be fired, but it is obvious that he wasted a whole year at USC and is paying the price for his...
  7. Hmmm. From what I remember, multiple MSM and Trojan folk were ready to just hand the CFB championship trophy to USC when they hired Lincoln Riley.
  8. TT transferred to Tulane undoubtedly believing that would be the starter for that team. Going from the powerhouse U of O program to an AAC program seemed like a surefire way to breeze in as a starter. Unfortunately, he was beaten out for the job by a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN, Darian Mensah. As I was seeing CFB scores scroll by yesterday, I saw that Tulane completely destroyed UAB 71-20 on Saturday and I was wondering if TT got to light up UAB. The answer is a resounding "no". TT had had the following stat line: He also had 3 rushing attempts for 10 yards and 1 TD. Now, The game may have been out of reach earlier and there was no cause to sling it downfield. So, I thought to myself, "self, what is TT's stat line YTD?" Self said, "Google it like everyone else, idiot". So, here is what I discovered for 2024: Passing: 6 of 9 for 74 yards and 2 TDs. Rushing: 22 attempts for 104 yards and 4 TDs. I know that this forum has discussed TT in depth over the last several years and we had extensive discourse how he did not seem to have that confidence or knowledge of the offense that we thought he should. We have also talked about how his rating was based on "potential" versus what he was showing. Unfortunately, it appears that Tulane probably saw what we at this forum observed for several years. I do feel bad for the kid because I REALLY wanted to see him succeed. Clearly the star rating system was a miss with TT. I will say that when Dillon Gabriel left the game for that one series and Dante Moore came in, I haven't felt that much sense of calmness in a backup QB since Bryan Bennett was MM's backup. Dante has a presence and confidence about him that lets you know he's got the situation. TT, I am still out on west coast pulling for you and I hope you get your shot someday. Once a Duck, Always a Duck.
  9. What are your thoughts on this? I actually see Ferguson as more of a hybrid of Tony Gonzalez as a run blocker and Travis Kelce as the route runner. I get I am comparing him to a couple of all-stars before he has played a down in the NFL, but that was what came to mind. NFL's Next Travis Kelce? Meet Oregon Ducks Tight End Terrance Ferguson WWW.SI.COM Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson has a bright future ahead of him, in the near term and the far term. Ferguson went down...
  10. Oregon Ducks' 'Greedy' Derrick Harmon To Face Former Team In Michigan State WWW.SI.COM EUGENE – Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Derrick Harmon is facing a familiar opponent Friday, October 4th. The No. 6 Oregon Ducks...
  11. UW lost their starting DL for the year to an Achilles injury. They are already limited in their depth and given Michigan's running attack, this is going to be a challenge for the UW front. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/jayvon-parker-joins-twin-brother-on-sideline-as-uw-starter-suffers-injury/#:~:text=Fisch announced Monday that Parker, first game of the season.
  12. Terrance Ferguson back practicing, expected to play on Friday WWW.GOOGLE.COM Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson will be good to this Friday against Michigan State after taking a big shot on Saturday that... I don't think you can overstate the value of Ferg to the UO offense in both the run game and as a receiving threat. Glad to hear he's back!
  13. The obvious lead is the win by OBD over UCLA, holding the Bruins without an offensive touchdown. I hope someone out there can tell me when that last happened outside of a cupcake matchup at the beginning of the season. Things always to clean up, DL said they are heading to "the doctor" immediately to try to fix some of the issues. Short week for OBD before they face Michigan State at Autzen. Hoping T-Ferg injury is NOT serious. The following is my opinion, feel free to disagree: Mark Helfrich is NOT a good commentator. His voice has such a flat affect that it's hard to listen to. I switched off the volume and listened to Jerry and Jorgy. Bama was a juggernaut, until they weren't and they almost gave the game away to Georgia. Texas struggled for most of the game with Mississippi State before breaking it open. Georgia has two identities and not sure what one will show up. I predict that Georgia will NOT make the playoff this year. I think Tennessee and Texas beat Georgia, and I also think Ol' Miss has a chance as well. My conspiracy radar says that the review booth received a call from the ACC commissioner on the VT/Miami game that went something like this: "Y'all know what you need to do. The ACC NEEDS to be relevant. If we give this game to VT, our highest ranked team is Clemson at #17 and we could miss the playoffs." UW lost to Rutgers. It was a beautiful thing! The UW Forums are ready to run Jedd out of town already. They were also complaining so much that they had to travel to Rutgers and that OBD only had to go LA. It was quite humorous to read! Wazzu has a better record than UW. Boise State needs to keep winning! Ashton Jeanty should be the Heisman front-runner. Finally, I don't see a team that is head and shoulders above another team this year. Ohio State and/or Texas maybe are the cream of the crop at week 5 but things can change very quickly.
  14. I bet Portland State would maybe consider an invite. Maybe OIT from Klamath Falls.
  15. The announcers just called Cam McCormick "The College Methuselah"!!
  16. Wow, VT is not flinching against Miami at all! They just went back up by 10!
  17. Virginia Tech is playing Miami tough. They picked off Ward at the goal line and just went up 21-14 in with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. It's over on ESPN if anyone is interested.
  18. I haven't seen this name suggested and so I'm gonna throw it out there. For those of you that still have kids at home, you'll recognize the dual meaning of the name. Folks, I give you the SUS-12 Hear me out. There are too meanings here. One is that all of these schools seem to be State Universities, so State University Schools - 12. Now, the dual meaning is that "Sus" is shorthand for suspicious and these schools are suspiciously masquerading as relevant. So, there ya go. The new power 5 conference, the SUS-12.
  19. Cam Ward: "Coach, we have the ball and they are out of time outs, let's just take a knee and get the dub" Mario: "Orrrrrrrr, we could do what they aren't expecting and use our physicality to run the ball one last time. Yeah, let's use our physicality!" Cam Ward: "Coach, I've seen that blow-up on you twice!" Mario: "Third time's a charm"
  20. Watched a podcast with Matt Prehm and his UCLA counterpart. It was sad from the UCLA standpoint. The UCLA podcaster said (laughingly) that they blame Oregon for the Chip Kelly hire because we made him look good!!! He went on to say that Foster was someone the players wanted even though he had no head coaching experience and that what the players want and what they need are two different things. The players that wanted Foster can transfer out and then you've hired someone who may be in over their head. Some boosters thought Foster would appeal to the "older UCLA fans" because of his connection with the school. Kinda reminds me of all the folks who were calling for Wilcox over Lanning. He believes that UCLA is in a complete rebuild mode. They are still dangerous though.
  21. USC is in a very precarious position. They have joined a conference with much more elite and desirable schools (Oregon being one of them) and are in danger of just becoming a Wisconsin-West in the B1G. Recruiting has become an issue, and keeping their "star" recruits is now a challenge. There is a story about a massive, unsinkable ship and an iceberg...can't recall the name, rhymes with Mitanic. No matter, the parallels are there.
  22. I see the potential for a huge parody right there!!
  23. Well, this is what our D is up against for this week: 267 yards?!?! https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3523880/boise-state-rb-ashton-jeanty-started-the-season-with-a-casual-267-yards-and-6-touchdowns
  24. Never wanted to see the day when a MC coached team had more big plays and scored more points than OBD. But it happened yesterday. Against an SEC team. Away. "Shout" sounded good though.
  25. When Desmond Howard said that The Ducks would win the National Championship, the roar from the crowd was amazing!! Clearly lots of Duck fans in Ireland!
