GameDay Thread versus Purdue: Join Us!
I would really like to see the defense preserve this shutout! A 35-0 victory on the road against a team that hung 49 on Illinois in a loss says a lot.

Glad to see that 4th down stop. Keep Purdue's spirits down. Now the offense needs to take no prisoners.

Feels kinda like that Starbucks cup of coffee you've been looking forward to and the espresso shots turn out a little bitter. I mean, it's still a good cup of coffee but it's not what your mind was thinking it was gonna be.

Oregon’s Secret That Nobody Talks About…
I have been listening to sports talk on SiriusXM (not a plug, it's just what I listen to), and can't help but have and ear to ear grin on my face. So many analysts are saying they had this Oregon team all wrong and they were shocked by the play of the defense and the offense. Some of them were almost asking "did Oregon know they weren't supposed to challenge Burke?". It was almost like they were saying Oregon didn't know they weren't supposed to beat up on the Ohio State defense!! Almost 100% of them believe there will be a rematch in the B1G Championship. I am not so sure. We all know the toll that the season takes on players and an injury to a key component for any team will derail the train. Just ask FSU. I personally had this as a loss for OBD and I couldn't be more happy to be wrong!! There are still gauntlets to run through and no game is a gimme. The season is long, which is why I absolutely love DL's approach, "Let's get better for Purdue" I'll tell you this: I am READY for Friday night!!

Oregon Football: The Deep Ball Is Back!
Gabriela deep throws in that game were absolutely beautiful. When you watch the throws to Tez and to Evan, what you see if that they aren't having to adjust their bodies and lose speed to catch the ball. I know not every throw was like that and sometimes the WR adjusting is not a bad thing because it also makes the DB adjust. But on a double move go, a streak, or post route, if you are just going speed; hitting the WR in stride is ideal and Gabriel did that perfectly on those two long throws. Everytime I've seen those highlights, the placement is just incredible.

When Do You Call It A Day?
Utah's Cam Rising is out for the year again, this time with a leg injury. IF Rising returns for another year, he may surpass another Cam (McCormick) as college footballs "Methuselah". When do you call it a day? Strange to think about but if Rising plays next year, some of his teammates would have been 4th/5th graders when he started his college career. Oregon Football's Traeshon Holden Issues Apology for Spitting on Ohio State Player
I was actually curious if there was an NCAA suspension in place for this type of foul and according to the rules, it is ejection only. There is no further suspension like there is for a targeting penalty. So any further discipline will be given by DL, UofO, etc.

BREAKING: Big DT Tomuhini Topui 2026 Commit
The environment last night. The fans. Gameday. The level of competition. Let's look big picture folks. No more Saban to play for. Aside from Texas, the SEC is not a powerhouse this year. OBD just beat tOSU. In front of a rabid crowd. Who wouldn't want to play at Autzen for DL?

The "Other" Former Pac-12 Teams
I am still basking in the glow of this incredible, STATEMENT win that OBD delivered to the entire world of college football. "Instant classic" is the phrase I see being bounced around in the national media. It is a credit to the Duck program and Dan Lanning that there isn't as much shock at the win as there is "Yeah, this is what were expecting to see from the Ducks". Clearly, the consensus is that OBD belong and and they have no ceiling. Alas, the performance of the other former Pac-12 may lead the B1G commissioners to ask for a Mulligan! UCLA is 0-4 in conference, 1-5 overall USC is 1-3 in conference, 3-3 overall Washington is 2-2 in conference, 4-3 overall All three are in the bottom half of the conference and none are ranked nationally. If you peruse the fan forums of these teams (except for UCLA, haven't found any fans yet), they are looking to blame their lack of success on anything from the travel, to the refs (apparently the B1G refs suck more than Pac-12 refs when you lose), to moon phases, and whatever else they can fathom. The bottom line is that these three teams are just not good. They lack the level of talent in all phases to compete at the higher level. They may have some incredible skill position guys but as OBD proved, it takes those guys all across the board to compete! But let's lay the blame where it belongs. The coaching. Fisch is NOT the guy for Washington, but who else is gonna go there? Foster is in over his head at UCLA, but he should get another year at least. My thoughts on Riley are pretty easy to find on this forum. Until these teams get a guy like DL, their success will be limited. But don't take my word for it. Take the word of a USC fan watching Penn State come roaring back to beat the Trojans:

So Many Doubters...Lanning Wins a B1G One!
Open letter to USC fans: Dan Lanning is a better coach than Lincoln Riley. Change our mind. Lots of love, Duck Fans

But this is USC. 45 points should have been enough to beat Tulane.

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
This is a great article on why USC is failing. Yep, they are saying "failing". They don't think Riley should be fired, but they lay most of the blame on Riley for not fixing the defense earlier, for not recruiting well, and for not bringing in elite talent in the transfer portal. Well, news flash: players want to go to elite programs and that has NOT been USC for a long time. If there is further evidence that Oregon lives rent free, under the heading of "The Truth About Lincoln Riley", the writer says "Riley wasted the 2023 season, and that wasted year put USC well behind Oregon in recruiting and portal acquisitions." Bwahahahahahaha!!!!! Lincoln Riley hot seat talk is ridiculous, but USC is playing catch-up TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It is ridiculous to think Lincoln Riley should be fired, but it is obvious that he wasted a whole year at USC and is paying the price for his...

Trojan Tears are Wonderful
Hmmm. From what I remember, multiple MSM and Trojan folk were ready to just hand the CFB championship trophy to USC when they hired Lincoln Riley.

Brief Ty Thompson Sighting
TT transferred to Tulane undoubtedly believing that would be the starter for that team. Going from the powerhouse U of O program to an AAC program seemed like a surefire way to breeze in as a starter. Unfortunately, he was beaten out for the job by a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN, Darian Mensah. As I was seeing CFB scores scroll by yesterday, I saw that Tulane completely destroyed UAB 71-20 on Saturday and I was wondering if TT got to light up UAB. The answer is a resounding "no". TT had had the following stat line: He also had 3 rushing attempts for 10 yards and 1 TD. Now, The game may have been out of reach earlier and there was no cause to sling it downfield. So, I thought to myself, "self, what is TT's stat line YTD?" Self said, "Google it like everyone else, idiot". So, here is what I discovered for 2024: Passing: 6 of 9 for 74 yards and 2 TDs. Rushing: 22 attempts for 104 yards and 4 TDs. I know that this forum has discussed TT in depth over the last several years and we had extensive discourse how he did not seem to have that confidence or knowledge of the offense that we thought he should. We have also talked about how his rating was based on "potential" versus what he was showing. Unfortunately, it appears that Tulane probably saw what we at this forum observed for several years. I do feel bad for the kid because I REALLY wanted to see him succeed. Clearly the star rating system was a miss with TT. I will say that when Dillon Gabriel left the game for that one series and Dante Moore came in, I haven't felt that much sense of calmness in a backup QB since Bryan Bennett was MM's backup. Dante has a presence and confidence about him that lets you know he's got the situation. TT, I am still out on west coast pulling for you and I hope you get your shot someday. Once a Duck, Always a Duck.

High Praise For Ferguson
What are your thoughts on this? I actually see Ferguson as more of a hybrid of Tony Gonzalez as a run blocker and Travis Kelce as the route runner. Michigan at Washington: Good...Bad and Ugly
UW lost their starting DL for the year to an Achilles injury. They are already limited in their depth and given Michigan's running attack, this is going to be a challenge for the UW front. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/jayvon-parker-joins-twin-brother-on-sideline-as-uw-starter-suffers-injury/#:~:text=Fisch announced Monday that Parker, first game of the season.
