  1. You're correct. They are different. Thanks for the correction.
  2. I did a little research on his background and it may provide some insight into his why he was bypassed during the 2021 recruiting cycle. Timberland High School is in Wentzville, MO, which is on the western edge of the St. Louis urban sprawl. It appears to be a new school in a rapidly growing area. The schools website said the school now has 1700+ students and has been growing by about 500 each year. That would mean the school could have been well below 1000 students when Harris played there. Being new, if correct, the school may not have been on the recruiters' radar. He was an all-state two-way player, though I don't know at what level of competition within the MO athletic system. What caught my eye in the NWMS athletics page bio for Harris, it says he played in only four games as a Freshman. Are the redshirt rules the same for Div II players as those in the big leagues, being able to play in four games and maintain four more years of eligibility? If they are, he should have three years to play with his redshirt already burned, rather than two years to play with a redshirt available.
  3. He played three seasons at Clemson and his least number of games played in was 10 in his freshman year, from Wikipedia. With the Covid year, he still has burned two seasons. I don't see how he has three years of eligibility left, but I could be missing something. Three to play two sounds more correct, based on what I read. He does have a redshirt season remaining in which he could play four games and retain his eligibility (is that correct?). He could be Bo's emergency backup in 2023, maybe burn his redshirt if things get interesting with the playoffs and Bo is questionable. Meanwhile he works with Stein to iron out any wrinkles in his technique and becomes a more efficient QB. Don't give him any guarantees for 2024 when he would have to compete with Novosad, and anybody else brought in, for a starting role.
  4. Totally agree. I'm also very concerned about our OL as it now stands. Little experience and limited talent overall. Old Bo got harried and made mistakes when pressured. I know we are pursuing some talented OL transfers, but so far there is no one definitely coming our way. I think we need two experienced, quality additions, at least. However, I cannot imagine Bo deciding to come back if he wasn't confident in the abilities of his offensive line, so I'm in a wait-and-see posture.
  5. SDSU may be a quick fix to the current situation and a long-term benefit because of the demographics of its location. I won't argue against it and think the idea has merit. Same for FSU, but without as much enthusiasm. But what about the long-term "health" of the conference, should the Ducks decide to stay with it? Are there gems out there that would make a good addition to the conference, even if they are not in the quick-fix category and would need time to be a competitive member? An investment for the future. One university comes to my mind, and I'm not advocating it, just using it as an example: What would it take to make UC-Davis into a PAC 12 caliber athletic institution? It's a stone's throw from the Sacramento metropolitan area of almost 3.0 million (maybe a part of it); it is an excellent university, a traditional criterium for PAC membership; and it is a good if not great college town. Academically, it would likely rank near to top of the conference, and it likely has a fairly wealthy alumni (Mike Bellotti gets a good paycheck, I hear!)
  6. At least I think it is his photo. Also nice touch with him catching the ball.
  7. This has to be practice squad tackling fodder. He's here for the parties and the championship ring.
  8. Possibly Aaron Brooks. My wish is for Ridnour to follow his father into coaching and replace Dana when he retires. Anybody know what he's up to?
  9. Twin towers? Has Dana ever come remotely close to considering the concept? Dante plays best, if not only, with his back to the basket. I don't know Ware's style of play, but I suspect it is more fully developed than Dante's. Dante at forward seems unlikely, though that may just be a position title being used by the writer. Guerrier had a tremendous first half to the season his final year at Syracuse, then his production fell sharply the second half. I have no idea of the reason for the drop off. Last season until the end, it seemed he was still stuck in the second half of his final Syracuse go-round. I hope his ending of this past season continues through the next into March. For my view, there were issues last season with three guards who thought they should be starting. They just didn't mesh well. It looks like we could be headed there again in 2022-23. I'm a big Will Richardson fan. I like his penetration, his ability to score around the basket, his ability to dish off in the paint, and his willingness to work the ball inside to the bigs. When his three is falling, he's a pretty spectacular player, and he's on more than he's off. He's been criticized on some boards as not having the right personality to fit well as the lead point guard. Maybe there is some merit to that. He's not a spark plug, which is what I think Dana likes in a PG. Perhaps Will is better off at SG. He and Peyton did pretty well together with Will in the SG role.
  10. Cheer up. This is the best hire. Strong character. Great recruiter. Great teacher. Best person for the job. If Phil and Rob had sold their souls to win a championship by hiring Meyers, I would have had to become a Beav. I could have gotten behind Kiffin as I think he's grown up. Meyers has too many fingers poking around in public where they don't belong, among other shortcomings. Aranda may have been a good hire too, but maybe he didn't want to leave Baylor. Lanning won't be afraid to hire a top-notch OC with an exciting scheme and will stay out of his way. I see an excited team and an excited fan base as well as ticket sales going up. Could it go wrong? Sure, but taking risks is what makes things tick. It's great to be a Duck again!
