Bear Alexander Leaving the Trojans
Apparently there is still trouble in La-La Land. This kid had red flags two years ago when he transferred to USC and underperformed with the last defensive regime Riley had. Lynn is a very good DC and I imagine the accountability he demands from his players resulted in Alexander's reduced playing time. This may end up being a plus for U$C but it sure looks ugly right now. Does anyone know what happens to an NIL deal if the player opts to take a redshirt? After observing the debacle with the QB at UNLV, you would think that those contracts have a clause for this type of eventuality.

Crap. Bedford Hurt AGAIN in Practice...
It is a setback, but with the O-line settling in with Pancho at center, Strother at LG and Harper opposite, there is continuity. Strother had the highest line PFF for the Beav game and I think will be fine for UCLA, MSU and maybe even tOSU. Nothing beats repetition. The main concern is depth if someone goes down, but give Bedford all the time he needs and hope to keep everyone upright until he and Iuli return.

Bo Nix Gets First NFL Win
Lots of love for Bo, but after watching Jaden Daniels dropping dimes on MNF, he looks like he deserved that Heisman.

What is Your All Time Favorite Ducks Game?
I'm gonna stick to the games I actually attended. 2012 Rose Bowl.. We were sitting about 50 rows up behind the Oregon bench and you could see the Chipster's bald spot under his visor when he went vertical after Michael Clay recovered the Wisconsin fumble on the sideline. Kiko like a cruise missle intercepting the Russell Wilson pass. That and DAT's 91yd TD run up the middle. 2013 Fiesta Bowl.. DAT again on that 94 yd opening kickoff return TD. We were only 20 rows up on the Oregon side at the 20yd line and had a fantastic view of DAT doing the chest lean at the goal line. The holy s**t response from the KState fans was a marvel. Kiko again like a cruise missile delivering a shot on QB Klein to stuff a 4th and 1. 2015 Rose Bowl-NC Semi.. The posterizing of Famous Jameis with the fumble recovery for a TD and the complete capitulation of that FSU team once Oregon had them on the ropes.

Do You Agree? What IS the Upside to This Offense?
I see the O-line coming together more as Pancho settles in at center and this group gets more comfortable working together. I would imagine Bedford rotates in against UCLA and Mich St, but I think the line can roll just fine with Strother at LG. We saw the night and day difference effective line play can do for both the run game and giving DG time to make those dime throws. Give Stewart an extra second and he will get open, particularly if the defense is trying to take Tez away as an option. Holden is looking to be a solid #3 and Stein needs to keep using TFerg and Sadiq as much as possible as they are mismatches for most LBs and edge players. It is the offense we all hoped would show up, and it starts up front.

GameDay Thread for Civil War: Join Us!
That was hands down the worst roughing the passer call and it gave Beavus the chance to score. Let them back into the game. That said, defense needs to close the lane that their qb can squirrel thru.

The 2024 Ducks Can Learn from 2014’s Struggles
Kudos to David for pointing out the 2024 parallels with the 2014 season. While I remember that home loss to the Wildcats well, I had forgotten how much the injury riddled O-line was cobbled together for that game. Once the injuries subsided and cohesiveness formed, the OL played as an effective unit to keep Mariota upright and win games. As much as I would like to see Bedford return to the lineup this week, getting effective mistake free play from an interior O-line of Harper, Pancho and Strother should be enough to beat the Beavs at the point of attack.

Oregon's Offense Has to Get Right Immediately!
Crepea points out in the article that Bedford is now taking two on two OL reps. He was repping with 2nd team RT Rogers as an OG/OT combo, but you don't let him go full blast against Harmon unless he is ready to play. Maybe not a full game, but more likely than not he is going to see some action Saturday. I really want to see Conerly, Harper, Pancho, Bedford and Cornelius as the starting L to R O-line, but I'd be optimistic if that combo was in at some point.

Ugly. But a W. Not sure the doctor even knows where to put the stethoscope on this one.

GameDay Thread versus Boise State: Join Us!
Well that was refreshing. Been waiting for Tez to light one up. Now hold them to some three and outs and get the offense some consistent long drives.

They have to get points on this series. Something to establish an offense.

Notre Dame and Michigan Go DOWN
Michigan went down to a better team. But, my goodness, what a loss for the Golden Domers. They truly choked one for the Gipper. ND not #5 anymore. OBD needs to take care of business against Boise State

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Boise State!
Ducks 38 - 14 2 TO 3 Sacks 295 passing yards Jeunty gets some yards but BSU offense stalls otherwise due to more havoc plays by the D. Oregon O-line still not settled, but better with few miscues and the offense moves the ball.

A Noah Whittington Problem?
I'd like to see Sadiq on one of those. 230 lbs of elite speed.

Hats Off to the Idaho Vandals
A worthy opponent, yes. Scary, no. The last Boise State game at Autzen was 2009. Whatever lingering fanny hurt is felt by those players (LaGarrette and the BSU dude he clocked notwithstanding) and those of us who had to watch the ignominious start to the Chip era. Most of Oregon's current players were six or seven years old at that time. So they (including DL and the rest of the staff) don't have any frame of reference for that loss. Lots to clean up after yesterday, particularly on the O-line, but the Ducks are still the significantly better team. They have plenty of egg to wash off their faces but they will be humbled and determined this week and I predict they come out against the Broncos with some fire in their eyes. And as long as we are remembering that 2009 season, let's also recall how the ship got righted and resulted in a Rose Bowl appearance.

Look at the Bright Side With This Game...
I agree that those issues cost the Ducks in both points and yards. I also agree that the quick reads and throws yesterday may very well have been a coaching response to less certainty that the OL could give DG enough time to hit the 2nd or 3rd read. I am, however, having a problem with believing that two potential All-American OTs with great PFF grades in 2023 have all of a sudden dropped off a cliff. Harper is still who he was last year but Pancho and Pickard were a bit of a disconnect. Pickard got the snaps to DG ok, but has neither the quickness, positional sense or pure mauling nastiness that JPJ had. JPJ made everyone else on the OL better. The spring game O-line issues I believe reflected more the fact that the 1s were divided into two teams and not that the whole unit is in trouble. Heck, even if you trotted out only the 2s there still should have been a significant talent advantage for Oregon against Idaho. It has to boil down to communication and comfort with what the guy next you is going to do, and to my eye, that was at least part of the issue yesterday. Bedford appears to be an integral part of the OL and getting him (and #2 Iuli) back at RG while moving Pancho to center should go a long way to correcting the lackluster performance we saw yesterday. Even if the O-line personnel stays the same for another week or two, just cleaning up the boneheaded alignment and assignment errors will make for a big improvement. If DG tells Cornelius to get his #300+ butt half a yard closer to the LOS, there would have been a 14 point swing in Oregon's favor. Boise State will be tougher competition than Idaho, but that defense gave up 45 points and 450+ yds (mainly passing) to Georgia Southern. If Oregon gets half of it's offensive mojo back and the OL stops stepping on own 5th extremity, there will be plenty of points scored. Finding a way to bottle up that Jeanty kid, making him wear Bassa like an iron maiden, will limit the damage their rushing attack can do.

Look at the Bright Side With This Game...
May I respectfully suggest that everyone take a slow deep breath and not assume the sky is falling? There are definitely concerns on the O-line, and keeping Pickard at center may not be a winning strategy. Several players along the front made some doofus plays that either killed drives or exposed Gabriel to a sack. I believe that those issues will be intensely addressed at practice this next week. It looks to me like it was a conservative game plan that nearly bit Oregon in the butt when Idaho didn't roll over as anticipated. If the Ducks come out flat against Boise State, then I'll be more concerned, but until then I'm going to give this team the benefit of the doubt. I am just thankful that Oregon now has a defense that can bail out the offense on a bad night. Lanning was obviously pissed off at the penalties, lackluster execution and missed assignments and will take this team to the doctor once he has taken it behind the woodshed.

My goodness, we have all of a sudden developed a B1G offense. Not good

GameDay Thread versus Idaho: Join Us!
Pickard got beat on that sack. 3 sacks and one lost fumble. O-line truly has a problem

GameDay Thread versus Idaho: Join Us!
Wouldn't bench Cornelius as that really won't help things. The two illegal formation penalties he was responsible for probably wouldn't have been called last year. That said, there is now no question about how deep the OT can line up, so correct it. Communication on the O-line appears to be partly responsible as well for the missed assignments. That might be due to Pickard but they just all need to get on the same page. And IMHO, this Idaho team came to play and isn't intimidated by Autzen or the Duck's #3 ranking. The second half will be more telling.

GameDay Thread versus Idaho: Join Us!
Go to the doctor at the half. Fix what ails the O-line. The one bright point is that Pickard may not be JPJ, but his snaps are good and he's only allowed one pressure. Gabriel gets a B+ so far. D is doing it's job. Give Idaho props, they are playing well.
