Well, saying everyone has a different line doesn’t mean there isn’t a line. Given the broad spectrum of human behavior I can almost guarantee there are a handful of people in the stands who think it would be great to pull out a gun a shoot the opposing coach.
This type of legislation is not the way to handle this issue.
Filling the stadium/arena with surveillance AI, cameras, facial and voice recognition (etc.) has it own set of problems. Let’s not go there either.

We have no idea where negotiations are. The presidents could be negotiating for a better offer, waiting for the lawyers for both sides to finish the contract, or in the process of signing. We just don’t know.

Who would you rather play against to get to the CFP? Ohio State and Michigan (after a strenuous trip to the East) or Washington and Utah?
There is a reason West Coast teams rarely get one of the blue bloods to play us at home. They are too likely to lose due to travel and our home field advantage.
We ain’t joining another conference this go around no matter what the paid for spinmeisters are saying. Why would anyone want to join with schools and people that are trying to destroy you?

Absolutely great post. I’m again impressed by the knowledge and skill of many of this forum’s members. I’d love to see a legal case against USC and their lying backstabbing president. Her mendacity goes back in time far beyond the events listed. I hope at some point a legal case is made against these sleazy folks. The only advantage of what has occurred is USC can no longer advocate against the conference from inside. In that sense we are much better off.

Those cut should keep their scholarships and be allowed to use the Transfer Portal without losing the scholarship. If they don’t find a new home they can still get an education. If they transfer hopefully they’ll have a scholarship at their new school.

Canzano had this to say about these rumors:

• We all might be tired of talking/fretting about the ongoing Pac-12 saga, but the decision-makers themselves don’t appear antsy. The board members are far more focused on cutting a shrewd, smart, sensible deal for the most revenue possible.”

I see Canzano’s point, but until something is signed what can they say that won’t cause problems in the negotiations?

My guess is the plan is to offer this free until it is indispensable and then charge a fee for each click. That plus ESPN ads on portal should make a nice penny for them.

Not entirely true though quality issues are downstream. Because there are so many PAC channels (or because the network lacks clout) FuboTV, as an example, streams the PAC-12 Network at about half the bitrate as ESPN and other sports channels. This causes noticeable compression artifacts in the video.

According to the police Traeshon did try to ‘walk away’ (deescalate the conflict). The conflict was so severe and escalated so quickly that the police said it would have been appropriate for for him to use force to protect himself or others.

The previous presidents were bad leaders because they were bad leaders, not because they were also academics (something of a swear word on this forum, LOL).
Sports is the tail that wags the in university dog. In reality sports (IMHO) are an important but not critical component of the university experience and university purpose.
College sports brings in billions to the US economy but university academics brings in trillion’s through research, development, and increasingly useful and accurate intellectual models we can use to view and understand our world and society.
Off my soap box! Enjoy your TV of which many of its technologies were invented by academics and universities.

This all just noise. No one writing this has the insider knowledge to write accurate copy. If Wilber and Conzano who do have connections was saying this I’d be taking this noise seriously.
Can’t wait for the contract to get signed so this click bait "news" stops.

Here is what Stewart Mandel is saying about the 4-corners schools moving. Behind paywall so I copied an excerpt. He is saying, "nope."

It depends on what you mean by “trouble.”
As we reported last week, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark getting that league’s deal done a year earlier than expected — at a reported $31.6 million per school — has put an unofficial ceiling on what the Pac-12 can get. Part of that is it may have eliminated one key bidder. After locking in the Big 12, Fox doesn’t have much need for the Pac-12. In fact, this may be the rare instance in realignment where basketball made a difference. Big 12 men’s hoops, with recent national champs Kansas and Baylor, and recent Final Four entrants Texas Tech and Houston, has value. Pac-12 men’s hoops, with Arizona as its only real brand once UCLA exits, has next-to-no value.
But also, even after the L.A. schools’ defections, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff was telling folks he could get something north of $40 million per school. That may have always been unrealistic, but it certainly is now given the Big 12’s $31.6 million number. Pac-12 football without USC and UCLA is not decidedly more valuable than Big 12 football without Oklahoma and Texas.
So that’s problematic.
But if you’re asking what I think you’re asking — are a bunch of Pac-12 schools about to defect to the Big 12? — I’ve heard nothing to suggest that’s happening. According to many sources at many different Pac-12 schools, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and Colorado still believe they’re better off in the Pac-12, so long as the math makes sense. While Kliavkoff’s deal may wind up a disappointment based on his initial inflated expectations, one AD told me it’s still likely to be “north” of $31.6 million (though I assume not by much).

Many of the PACs decisions/mistakes were driven by USC (sometimes in conjunction with other schools). Without USC with their narrow self-interest and backstabbing driving things my hope is the decision making will improve.

I think for Oregon/Washington it also comes down to “how much does moving to a new conference cost us” and “what are our chances of getting to the playoffs and the money/visibility that comes from being there.”
If we do go to a new conference I really doubt it will be at 100% of what other teams are getting. Is that substantially better than the payoff they will get in the PAC?
Rumors aside, we don’t know yet.
We also know from past history that teams that moved to a geographical distant conference (which also means different culture and values) have not done well.

Not sure what is going on. Not sure the writers do either. If Wilner starts echoing what we are hearing elsewhere then I’ll take it seriously. I have found that the sports "news" environment is increasingly dysfunctional as are most "attention driven" businesses such as YouTube, Facebook, …
"OMG we/they are doomed," sells clicks. It may, or may not, be true.
As to Oregon/Washington going to another conference…they are in small TV markets and don’t bring enough money to a hungry conference to warrant a large payout. If the PAC is having a hard time getting a good price, then why would Oregon/Washington be worth a great deal more? Some yes, but not as much as Ohio State, USC, or UCLA. At least not to the broadcasters who are paying the bills.

I read earlier today that the president’s meeting did not occur. Looking to B1G news sources for factual reports seems a bit naive considering all the misinformation we are getting from sources close to the B1G (who is trying to destroy the PAC and make money picking up the pieces).
Note: Wilner said that the meeting did occur with nothing signed yet.
