All but one 4 or 5 stars. Hoping the defense will be better next year. Please.

Hard to feel sorry for USC and UCLA…so I won’t.

Isn’t a “handler/director" common in these situations? Can’t be the first time the coach faced this. Man, he went from zero to vein bulging-eye popping in < a second.

He reminds me a lot of KT and Justin Herbert: Great athlete, intelligent and complex person. I think, football wise, that he’d help us more on defense, but I’ll trust Lanning et al to see if he is a fit.

False starts due to crowd noise or defenses barking signals.

Young Mr. Harbor sounds like an amazing young man. Incredible athlete, high character, and super smart:
“I have thought a lot about medicine, but I am also looking into the engineering field. I want to have a great future after football, and that is why education is so important to me.
“My mom, my dad, my aunt, and uncle have all given me so much knowledge, wisdom, and guidance about education, how important it is, and it really means a lot to me.”
5-star Nyckoles Harbor is track phenom, football star with big dreams

Nyckoles Harbor is a top 10 football prospect in the 2023 class, but his dreams and goals go well beyond what happens between the lines. -
Well I wasn’t happy with how Oregon played at the end of the season (bowl game exempted) but UCLA really sucked. Good luck Dante Moore. Welcome to mediocrity. Hope he can control his emotions better than DTR. Terrible leadership by UCLA’s QB. Terrible leadership by Chip who let DTR act that way all season.

All the kickers struggled. The footing and surface was abysmal. No more non-football fields.

How about this? Criticism of all athletes - professional or little league - is way over the top.
There is a whole sub-culture that believes cruelty to others is “cool.” We see them in social media trolling and snarking others in semi-anonymity. Criticism of performance is okay but the rest is just cruelty.

Good to know the RB depth is much shallower since that is my main concern. The Mario-no-o pistol gave the defense so much time to react. I’ll mark myself as cautiously optimistic

IMO, the pistol as part of a dynamic true RPO offense with a Bo Nix at the helm is a going to be very different animal than one that pounds it's chest and dares you to stop it when staring at 7 or 8 in the box.
I did read the entire article and certainly hope my pessimism is unfounded. I fear that the pistol works against slower, less athletic defenses but starts to fail against team speed. I remember in the last year of Mario-ball when the team experimented by running pistol plays (universally stuffed) then running non-pistol running plays (universally worked). The offense then moved away from the pistol. I fear the formation will always put running backs and offensive linemen at a disadvantage against the fast, powerful run defenses that Oregon faces at its level of play (vs the slower defenses found where this offense arose).

Sorry, all I see is pistol and that means plod, predictable, and defeat to me. We’ll see next year I guess but not an auspicious start after painful years of Cristobal’s pistol.

Herbie said that he is one of the best safeties in college football and he was a captain at Arkansas. You can’t teach athleticism so I say “bring him in, if you can!”
Athleticism and leadership.

Texas A&M. Doing less with more. Maybe they’ll be good this year.

My guess he will follow Bowen to OK.
-
Looks like now going to Oklahoma. Weird and probably caused by parents. Wonder how long he will stay there once he turns 18.
-
What a day. Hope Bowen decides to join us. He is a key to getting Hicks per what I’ve read.

He’s a Duck. Wonder if his “little” brother joining him at Oregon was the holdup.

I don't know. Our class is great, but that's contingent on Dickey and Bowen.
Agree but it is out of our hands. Make it up in the portal if we have to.

Can’t get too wrapped up with this. Win some, lose less. That is what Oregon has done today. Maybe a big loss, but Oregon still is much better due to today’s recruiting.

I haven't seen anything on Dickey, does anyone know whats going on there?
I read that he may wait to sign. So I’d qualify him as a maybe.

Let’s hope 100% certainty is just that. This appears to be a very late development.
Building Lanning’s Defense: Off-Season Problems to Fix
in Our Beloved Ducks

The DL/ED recruits coming in are about 95% “blue chip.” If there isn’t marked improvement by mid-season next year then the problem is coaching and development.
I admit to not being as optimistic as many of you. This year, even with players that weren’t optimal there should have been some improvement, which I didn’t see.
