  1. Oregon's offensive system blending new and old this spring Part of the focus when bringing in a new coordinator like Will Stein is making sure that his scheme and philosophy mesh well with the rest of the offensive coaching staff while also bringing in new ideas for the talent on the team. “The key for us now is, 'OK, let’s challenge ourselves to be different and use our personnel in the best way,'” Lanning said. “No offense or defense should ever look the same when personnel changes.” Integrating Stein’s offensive plan with wide receivers coach Junior Adams’ style of route combinations will be compared to the early days between him and Dillingham, but apparently, these two are off to just as good of a start. 10. Luke Moga, fast-rising quarterback prospect, sets commitment date; Oregon the favorite? Class of 2024 quarterbacks are flying off the board - with 18 of the nation's top 21 signal-callers locking in verbal commitments. That flurry of activity has driven up the interest in a new crop of talented passers, including Sunnyslope (Arizona) three-star quarterback Luke Moga, whose stock appears to be skyrocketing. As a junior, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller threw for 2,258 yards and 26 touchdowns with eight interceptions and added an additional 539 yards and five scores on the ground. While Oregon is set to both Pinnacle (Arizona) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and St. Frances (Maryland) four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren this month, Moga has emerged as a prime candidate for the Ducks. Furthermore, his commitment date coincides with a massive recruiting weekend for Oregon, aided by the program's spring game on April 29 and an Elite 11 regional camp event at Sheldon High School in Eugene on April 30. 14. Oregon commit Jackson Shelstad is ready to take his game to the next level Shelstad will be joining an Oregon program that hardly resembles the Ducks’ teams he grew up watching. In the 2022-23 season, the program finished No. 4 in the Pac-12 conference and was bounced in the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Tournament. Shelstad cited his work ethic when asked how he’s going to help the Oregon program return to prominence. “I’m just gonna come in and bring a competitive spirit,” Shelstad said. “I like to be in the gym. I’m a gym rat. I’m going to try to get everybody in the gym and work hard.” A starting position isn’t guaranteed for Shelstad in the Ducks' lineup next season. Veteran guards like Jermaine Couisnard and Keeshawn Barthelemy are expected to return and Cook can also play at guard. Shelstad will need to work to earn the trust of head coach Dana Altman and his Oregon teammates which is a challenge he has embraced. “We’re gonna have some older dudes next year, but I’m just excited to play along with them and learn from them,” Shelstad said. “I’m just going to come in and compete. Try to earn my respect and just play hard. Play my game.” Read more about future Duck Jackson Shelstad in this article from The Daily Emerald.
