Ducks Fall Short in Slugfest No. 21 Oregon and No. 10 Washington traded haymakers throughout the game but the Huskies prevailed on this night, 13-8, Saturday at Husky Softball Stadium to even the opening series of the Pac-12 season at one game apiece. Noteworthy: McGowan, who was 2-for-4 on Saturday, took over the team lead in RBI with 25. She homered for the fourth time in the last five games … Allee Bunker's first inning double was the 41st of her career, tying her for third with Missy Coe (1999-01) on the UO career list. Bunker also moved one hit closer to Nikki (Udria) Ragin (2014-17) for third on the UO career hits list. Bunker finished the game with 245, just two back of Ragin's 247 … Stevie Hansen (11-3) took the loss in relief and saw her 11-game winning streak come to an end. The deciding game is scheduled for noon on Sunday. Ducks Fall Short in Slugfest - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM Terra McGowan homered for the fourth time in five games.

Hello Bruce3404. I just posted an article to the Indoor Track & Field thread, written by Ken Goe of the Oregonian, who is in agreement with you. After the results of the Indoor Track & Field Champs, he's wondering where Oregon's glory days in indoor track have gone. I will repost it here to go with your write-up. Oregon Ducks women finish an underwhelming 11th at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships The Oregon Ducks sputtered through an underwhelming final day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico. Fourth-ranked coming in by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Oregon’s women finished tied for 11th with LSU, each scoring 22 points. Arkansas claimed the women’s title with 64. It’s a far cry from the days in which the Ducks dominated the indoor championships. The UO men won the NCAA indoor title as recently as 2021. They won consecutive national titles indoors from 2014-16. The UO women won seven of eight NCAA indoor team championships between 2010 and 2017. As you'll find in the article, it was a most disappointing showing by the Ducks this weekend. It seems our athletes weren't as prepared as they needed to be as a group. ELLIS, MAYS HIGHLIGHT FINAL DAY OF NCAAS Senior Lexi Ellis broke the school record in the triple jump and Jadyn Mays had two top-five national finishes in the sprints Saturday as the Ducks put a cap on the 2023 indoor season. The Women of Oregon finished the weekend tied for 11th in the team race with 22 points, one tally shy of a top-10 national finish. With her showing Saturday, Mays became the first UO woman to score in the 60 and 200 meters at the NCAA indoor meet since Hannah Cunliffe and Ariana (Washington) Murphy did so in 2017. Mays began the day with a time of 7.13 in the final of the 60 meters, and roughly 40 minutes later, followed that up with a 22.63 in the 200. She finished in fifth place in both events, collecting eight points for the Ducks. Oregon's late comeback bid falls short as No. 16 UCLA takes game two, evens series at one apiece Oregon’s five-game winning streak came to a close on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 16 UCLA Bruins (11-3, 1-1) continued their homerun parade at PK Park, staving off the Ducks' late comeback attempt and winning 8-7. Trailing 8-2 heading into the ninth, Oregon put together a five-run rally to make the game interesting, starting with a double from Jackson Jaha, his first career hit. Jaha scored on a Tanner Smith single before Oregon hit three straight home runs from Ceballos, Cowley, and Walsh. However, the late-inning comeback effort from the Ducks ultimately fell short. As the game tying run, Colby Shade laced a ball to right field before UCLA’s JonJon Vaughns made a diving catch to end the rally. WATCH Coach Wasikowski | Postgame vs. UCLA | Game 2 Ninth-inning rally falls short Trailing 8-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, freshman Jackson Jaha sparked the Ducks' rally with a one-out pinch-hit double in his first career at-bat. Tanner Smith made it 8-3 with an RBI single that scored Jaha before Rikuu Nishida struck out to put the Bruins (11-3, 1-1 Pac-12) one out away from evening the series at one game apiece after the Ducks won the series opener on Friday night. Oregon (10-4, 1-1 Pac-12) would not go quietly. Sabin Ceballos crushed a ball to dead center field for a two-run home run cutting UCLA's lead to three. Two pitches later, Drew Cowley made it a two-run game with a solo shot over the right-center wall. Jacob Walsh followed with another bomb over the right-center field wall. It looked like Oregon would keep the rally going. Colby Shade lined a shot into the gap in right-center field, but UCLA right-fielder JonJon Vaughns made a sliding catch to rob Shade of extra bases and end the game.
