  2. A strong pitching performance puts Oregon on top against San Diego Fresh off a three-game sweep by UCSB, Oregon had seen this story before—allowing a first inning home run followed by a struggling offensive performance. In the second and third innings, the sun filled sky was not indicative of how the Ducks played. Two costly baserunning mistakes turned run scoring opportunities into scoreless frames, something the Ducks couldn't afford. What kept the Ducks in the game was a dominant performance from their starter Jace Stoffal. Stoffal, who allowed two earned runs last outing, threw five frames, allowing the lone solo homer. A strong pitching performance puts Oregon on top against San Diego 247SPORTS.COM A strong pitching performance puts Oregon on top against San Diego Stoffal highlights strong Ducks’ effort on the mound Jace Stoffal allowed just one run in five innings and got help from a pair of relievers as Oregon picked up a 3-2 win in game one of a nonconference series against San Diego at PK Park on Thursday afternoon. Stoffal held the Toreros (5-2-1) to just two hits while fanning a career-high four in his second start of the season. Matt Dallas pitched 2.2 innings in relief of Stoffal before giving way to closer Josh Mollerus, who got the final four outs to clinch the win. The three Duck pitchers combined to allow just six hits and four walks while fanning eight. 6. WBB recap: Strong second half may be enough to impress NCAA committee The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team is going to look back upon this loss to Stanford and wonder “what if?” Oregon played the Cardinal straight up in the second half, but a poor first half was enough to send the Ducks out of the Pac-12 tourney with a 76-65 loss to the Cardinal. Coming into the game, the Ducks had a NET ranking of 19 and with this relatively close loss to the No. 1 seeded Cardinal, Oregon may have done just enough to get into the Big Dance. We won’t know if that’s the case until next weekend. 7. Hi spartan2785. I can't remember where I read it, but it was said that the Ducks played a harder schedule than most teams. Their NET surprises me too, but it has been in the 20s during the season.
  8. Ducks fail to muster enough offense to best Stanford in Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinal The Ducks' NCAA Tournament hopes now await the selection committee's decision. Oregon has played its final game before the committee convenes on March 12 to determine the field of 68 for this year's tournament. The final data point on their resume will be Thursday's 76-65 defeat to top-seeded Stanford in the quarterfinal round of the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas. Oregon never led during 40 minutes of play, and routinely trailed by 10 or more points. The Cardinal shot out to a seven-point lead they never relented with their advantage in the paint proving too overpowering.
