Oregon women remain on cusp of NCAA Tournament in latest ESPN projection ESPN's latest bracket projections have the Ducks just outside the field of 68. Per Tuesday's update, the Ducks are the first team on the outside looking in for next month's NCAA Tournament. The Ducks will face Washington on Wednesday to open the Pac-12 Tournament. The winner of that game will have a good chance of dancing, as the Huskies are fifth team out, per ESPN. The remaining team will face Stanford on Thursday in Las Vegas. The Pac-12 remains well-represented in the tournament even with a few teams battling for bids. Stanford and Utah are both on the top-seed line, while Colorado would also host as a four-seed. UCLA (5), Arizona (6), Washington State (10) and USC (10) are also safely in to give the league seven representatives. Oregon has not missed the NCAA Tournament since the 2015-16 season when they reached the WNIT semifinals. One-and-done or bet on themselves in '24? In 2022, there were a total of 24 one-and-done freshmen. 12 were taken in the first round, 9 in the second round, and 3 went undrafted altogether. In the upcoming 2023 NBA draft, the first round bubble is particularly large, with currently over 50 prospects getting R1 consideration in the most recent edition of The Draftables. With so much uncertainly in this year’s draft, and so much potential opportunity a year later, it could behoove some of these players to consider a return to college basketball in hopes of following in the footsteps of current NBA rookies like Keegan Murray and Jaden Ivey, who saw their draft stock explode after breakout sophomore seasons. Here’s a look at some players who could be potential candidates. Oregon Football Announces Two New Additions to Coaching Staff Dan Lanning has moved quickly this offseason to fill holes on his coaching staff. Mike Cavanaugh will be the assistant offensive line coach for the Ducks in 2023, while Brian Michalowski will coach the inside linebackers. Cavanaugh is an important addition to the coaching staff because he can help guide new offensive line coach A'lique Terry as he takes over a group that was previously coached by Adrian Klemm. He not only brings knowledge of the position but also of the conference with him to Eugene. Michalowski comes over from Oregon State, where he served as a defensive quality control analyst. Oregon's new inside linebackers coach hails from Morristown, New Jersey and his coaching resume includes coaching the outside linebackers at Colorado (2019-2021) and being a defensive analyst at Georgia in 2018, among other jobs. Grace VanSlooten unlikely to play on Wednesday, Chance Gray a 'question mark' The Ducks may be without two starters when they open Pac-12 Tournament play in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Oregon coach Kelly Graves continues to be skeptical of the availability of forward Grace VanSlooten, who has missed three straight games with an ankle injury, and he's also uncertain if Chance Gray will be available either. Per Graves, VanSlooten saw an uptick in practice activity on Monday, while Gray, who is dealing with a lower left leg injury of her own, was unable to participate. Te-Hina Paopao was also "limited", Graves said. Ducks fall off of NCAA Tournament bubble in latest version of bracketology The month of March is just right around the corner and the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team not being on the bubble for the NCAA tournament wouldn’t be a surprise if this was November. Going into the Big Dance should have been a sure thing for the Ducks. They were picked to finish third in the Pac-12, a spot that would have put them in the NCAA tournament without any problem. But the season hasn’t gone according to plan and even with Oregon’s last-second victory in Corvallis, it wasn’t enough to put the Ducks on the bubble, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. As things stand now, if Oregon (16-13, 10-8) doesn’t make some kind of magical run in the Pac-12 tournament down in Las Vegas next week, the Ducks will be NIT bound. It's conference tourney title or bust for Dana Altman's Ducks DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It’s a position Dana Altman’s Ducks haven’t been in too often in recent years, but Oregon is clearly off the bubble for the Big Dance.

The path for the 4-seed and Pac-12 Tournament bye for the Ducks The Oregon men's basketball team still has a very good chance at securing a top-four seed in the Pac-12 tournament next week in Las Vegas. The mission is simple and if accomplished could play a huge role in a chance at the NCAA Tournament in two weeks. Going into the final week of the regular season in men's college basketball, Oregon sits alone in fifth place in the Pac-12 with a 10-8 record. Oregon is one game out of fourth-place Arizona State (11-7) and they sit half a game up on Utah (10-9) who is in fifth place. The stakes are high for the Ducks as they gear up for their final two games of the year, both at home. Ducks drop out of top 25 after weekend sweep by UCSB It was not an idyllic weekend for the Ducks, as UC Santa Barbara swept the three game series at PK Park quite decisively. Oregon was outscored 20-3 in the series, hitting only two extra-base hits over the three game set. During an eight inning stretch that expanded between game two and game three, Oregon was 0-24, with one batter reaching due to an error. The results? Oregon Football Signee Spotlight: RB Jayden Limar Oregon flipped Jayden Limar from Notre Dame late in the 2023 cycle, giving Carlos Locklyn another versatile back. Limar is a dynamic talent out of the backfield. He rushed for over 2,000 yards and 36 touchdowns as a senior, all while averaging 9.1 yards per carry. Lake Stevens ran a shotgun-heavy offense that suited him well and allowed him to showcase his home run speed on a regular basis. He's definitely got some wiggle to his game, as he displayed good change of direction and agility on tape. At 5'11", 190 pounds he still has some room to add some weight to his frame, which will serve him well so long as he doesn't lose any speed. What makes him different from Dowdell, aside from their physical stature, is his use in the passing game. In 2022 Limar caught 26 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns. Those stats won't blow anyone away, but he also lined up in the slot at times which shows just how versatile he is. Click here to read about Jayden Limar in Ducks Digest.
