I'm afraid that having a recruiting footprint in TX doesn't necessarily bring in the dollars. Dollars are needed to grow the team and also maintain all the other sports. It seems in today's market, a media footprint is what brings in the money. I hate how media is controlling our sports life.
-
This is the biggest worry. It's great to think about expanding the conference, but I don't think the dollars split so many ways is going to be enough to make each school grow. The main reason these schools are left behind is their media market doesn't add value.

The Great College Football Schism is Coming
Pennsylvania Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I've always wanted my Ducks to play with/against the best. This article has made me stop and think about that choice. Do I really want to see "professional" players on a Saturday afternoon?...No I don't. Do I want to support the student-athlete?...Yes I do. I believe I will always follow my Ducks, but it might be with less interest as "professionals." This is a terrible choice to have to make as I like the conference as is. Great article, David. I like articles that make me stop and think about my choices. -
While watching the World Championships on TV, I thought the same. Hayward is the crown jewel of track & field in the U.S. There is no better facility. We should be able to recruit and bring in the best to compete here, long and short distances, along with the field events. Listening to the winners talk, they all love running on this fast track and partake in the "Hayward Magic." It's hard to see why we can' be more successful. We need dynamic coaches that can go out recruit and close the deal. I hope these new coaches can achieve that. They need to follow the Lanning model of recruiting!

Can't help but root for this guy. Love his answer to why he decided to come back this year. “I felt like we had something to come back for. I was not OK with that being my last year of college football. I needed another go-around," he explained. Hope he has a great year and head off to his dream of the NFL. D.J. Definitely! I know we will be better than last year, when special teams were a downer.

I totally disagree with Chip Kelly''s comment about traveling east for games. "You're only there for probably 18 hours total," he said. "You fly in the night before, go to sleep, get up in the morning, touch your toes, play a game, get on a plane and go back." As one who has done this cross country trip many times, it is much easier adjusting traveling east to west than vice versa. 18 hours is a very short turnaround and not enough to make-up the 3-hr sleep difference and be alert, especially for a 1:00ET game.
