Ducks vs Washington: Bye Week Articles, Etc.

Oregon Football: 5 numbers that have defined the Ducks' 5-0 start to the season Oregon is 5-0 at the start of its bye week. So far, so good for coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks, who are unbeaten through five games for the first time since 2013. That Oregon team lost a top-10 battle with Stanford in November that essentially determined the Pac-12 champion that year. This Oregon squad could very well be playing in a similar game on Oct. 14 when it heads to Seattle. If there’s a team in the Pac-12 this season that can go head-to-head with Washington at its best and walk away with a win, it’s Oregon. The Ducks have looked incredibly promising throughout the 5-0 start, and they move into a “work week” with very few clear flaws. Here are five key stats that have defined the season thus far for Oregon. Oregon Football: 5 numbers that have defined the Ducks’ 5-0 start to the season SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Oregon is 5-0 at the bye. Dan Lanning on what's next: 'We're not going to bye week, we're going to work week' Dan Lanning set the tone for No. 8 Oregon's bye week before it even started. Speaking with media following Saturday's 42-6 win over Stanford, Lanning made it clear that the upcoming week would be about a lot more than rest. "We're not going to bye week, we're going to work week," he said. "Our guys know what our goals are and what we have to accomplish. A lot of the teams are going to relax this week. We're going to get better." With the meat of the schedule following this weekend's open Saturday, attention will be had on upcoming opponents. Seventh-ranked Washington, who the Ducks face on Oct. 14, will receive much of the week's attention, but so will a thorough self scout. "We have a plan in place," he explained. "We'll work future opponents, and will certainly work Washington. We've got some good teams coming up. Those guys are playing good ball up north. So, we've got to bring our best. It's going to be one of our great preparations. "Then we've really got to self scout ourselves, right? It's time to peel back the layers and figure out, 'OK, what do we have to do to be a dominant team moving forward'?" Dan Lanning on what's next: 'We're not going to bye week, we're going to work week' 247SPORTS.COM Oregon coach Dan Lanning said on Saturday that the team won't approach this week like others approach their bye weeks.

Will Oregon vs. Washington be the ESPN College GameDay location in Week 7? We had an idea before the 2023 college football season that this was a possibility, and after seeing both teams on the field for a couple of weeks, there was a good feeling that this could actually happen. Now, as the No. 8 Washington Huskies and No. 9 Oregon Ducks get set to square off after the bye week, we can officially ask the question — will Seattle be host to ESPN’s College GameDay in Week 7 for this matchup that will likely be one of the biggest games of the year? It’s a fair question to ask. Neither the Ducks nor the Huskies have been featured on the show yet, but they are both undoubtedly among the best teams in the nation. Let’s take a look at the top marquee games in Week 7 and try to determine where GameDay will land... Will Oregon vs. Washington be ESPN College GameDay location in Week 7? Oregon's defense starting to morph into what they envisioned at the start of the season The Oregon Duck defense is rolling and they are starting to live up to the image and reputation they envisioned at the start of fall camp. Scoring is down. The sacks are up. The third-down defense has improved. The yards allowed are down. Through the first five games of the 2023 Oregon Duck football season, the Oregon defense is rolling at a level we've very rarely seen from the program. The 2019 defense is often viewed as one of the best Oregon defenses in the program's history. Seven different times the defense that season allowed 10 or fewer points in a game. It's a total that can't be beaten dating back as far as 1980. Oregon's defense this season already has four games holding their opponent to 10 or fewer points and is starting to drastically impact games... Week 5 around college football didn't feature as many fireworks as the loaded Week 4 schedule did, but there was still plenty of Top 25 action. The game of the day turned out to be Ole Miss' victory over LSU, which featured 104 points and a last-minute, game-winning touchdown by the Rebels. Lane Kiffin's team asserted itself after a painful loss to Alabama, while any playoff hopes LSU had disappeared. No. 11 Notre Dame avoided a drop in the rankings by scoring a last-minute touchdown to outlast No. 17 Duke, despite a great effort from the Blue Devils. Elsewhere, No. 10 Utah took a Friday night loss at No. 19 Oregon State, positioning the Beavers to jump in Sunday's polls. No. 22 Florida is set to fall out of the rankings after a blowout loss to Kentucky, while No. 1 Georgia is clinging to the top spot after narrowly escaping Auburn. 9 major takeaways from Oregon's dominant 42-6 win over Stanford For the first time since the 2013 season, the Oregon Ducks are 5-0. That may seem like a stat that is hard to believe, considering that Oregon played for the national championship in 2014, and won the Rose Bowl in the 2019 season, but it’s true. The Ducks now officially enter their bye week with an undefeated record, ranked as one of the top 10 teams in the nation. For a brief period of time on Saturday, it looked like that may not be the case after falling behind 6-0 vs. Stanford and punting on their first two possessions of the game. In classic Oregon fashion, though, they turned it around quickly and scored 42 unanswered points, blowing out the Cardinal and covering the spread with ease for the fifth time this year. It wasn’t a perfect game, but it was a performance that gave us a lot of insights into who this Duck team is at this point in the season. Ducks Leave Cardinal In Their Wake All season long, Dan Lanning has exhorted his Ducks to battle for a full 60 minutes, or as long as it takes. Anybody who counted out Oregon after 15 minutes Saturday at Stanford didn't know how seriously the UO football team takes that message from the head coach. A game that was one-sided through two possessions for each team ultimately ended up one-sided in the other direction, as No. 9 Oregon overcame a slow start to beat the Cardinal at Stanford Stadium, 42-6. The Ducks trailed 6-0 early in the second quarter and had only 13 yards on six plays, but by the end of the day Oregon had over 500 yards of offense and held an opponent to 10 or fewer points for the fourth time in five games... Ducks Wire Player of the Game: Troy Franklin turns in vintage 2 TD performance The Oregon Ducks got off to a shaky start against the Stanford Cardinal, but after developing the run game and stringing together a few stops, Oregon was able to pull away and leave Stanford in the dust. There were quite a few individuals that stood out today. Bo Nix had a near-perfect game passing the ball. Evan Williams continued to dominate, both in coverage and by getting into the backfield. But the standout player today has to be Troy Franklin, and he is the recipient of Ducks Wire’s Player of the Game honors...
