Column: Bring on the outside noise, Dan Lanning's Ducks are focused and ready for Prime Time Before the 2023 college football season began for the No. 11 Oregon Ducks, a pair of very notable alums — Sabrina Ionescu and Hroniss Grasu — gifted the team with custom pairs of noise-canceling Beats headphones, decked out in green and yellow with the classic Oregon wings on the sides. Those headphones will be put to good use in Eugene this week. There is bound to be a lot of noise to block out. If you aren’t aware of what Sanders has been doing in Boulder over the past few months, then you’ve been living under a rock. It’s a hype train that has consisted of non-competitive games with 8-plus million viewers, sidelines that look like a red carpet for a movie premiere, and enough ESPN and FOX airtime to convince you that Sanders has eventual plans to run for public office. That entire dog and pony show is coming to Eugene this weekend as the Buffs try to keep things rolling and continue their storybook start to a season. No matter, the Ducks are prepared. They’re ready for the noise. They’ve got a good idea about what’s coming their way. They’ve got their Beats, courtesy of Sabrina and Hroniss. Game Recap: Oregon returns to form with 55-10 win over Hawai'i The No. 13 Ducks came into Saturday knowing that there was still a lot to clean up. The opening week demolition of Portland State made it seem that things were going perfectly. A wake-up call in Lubbock last Saturday was surely what Oregon needed ahead of its difficult conference schedule. Before Colorado comes to Eugene next week, the Ducks had to take care of business to remain undefeated in 2023. Hawaii came to town knowing that a win inside Autzen Stadium was close to impossible. It sure looked that way on Saturday. Oregon rediscovered the offensive rhythm that fans saw in Week 1 when the Ducks scored a new program high. It wasn't quite 81 points against Hawaii, but scoring on the first six possessions of the game made for an easy and exciting victory. While the offense scored relentlessly, the defense became a feared force. The pass-heavy Rainbow Warriors only managed six first downs in the first half and nearly had more rushing yards (40) than passing yards (44). Game Recap: Oregon returns to form with 55-10 win over Hawai'i OREGON.RIVALS.COM Oregon again dominated an opponent as the Ducks handed Hawai'i a 45-point loss Saturday in Eugene.

Dan Lanning ‘extremely disappointed’ by Oregon football’s 9 penalties against Hawaii Amid a week of attempting to address one of the most penalized games of the Dan Lanning era, Oregon followed it up with another game with a lot of yellow flags. The No. 13 Ducks were called for nine penalties for 76 yards Saturday night in their 55-10 win over Hawaii at Autzen Stadium. Oregon (3-0) has committed 23 penalties over its past two games, its most in a two-game span since the end of the 2017 season, when it was the most penalized team in the country. Oregon Ducks vs. Colorado Buffaloes: Ducks opens as early three-score favorites vs. Coach Prime The first three weeks of the college football season have been relatively mundane for the Oregon Ducks. Week 1 and Week 3 featured games against overly matched opponents who arguably didn’t belong on the same field as Oregon, and while Week 2 was entertaining against Texas Tech, it was the Red Raiders loss to Wyoming in Week 1 that took some shine off of that matchup. Going into Week 4, though, we get all of the storylines. Coach Deion ‘Prime Time’ Sanders is coming to Eugene with an undefeated record, and he has something to say. While the Colorado Buffaloes have won every game on their schedule, they haven’t really beaten anyone good along the way. In the first conference game for either team of the 2023 season, it will be a litmus test for both squads trying to capture the nation’s attention and declare themselves “the real deal.” Get your popcorn ready. Here’s an early look at this weekend’s betting lines according to BetMGM. Oregon vs. Colorado: Ducks opens as early three-score favorites DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Early betting lines for Oregon vs. Colorado have the Ducks as comfortable favorites heading into Week 4 against Coach Prime.

Ducks secondary shows marked improvement against Hawaii Oregon's secondary came into Saturday's matchup against Hawaii, hoping to improve upon their performance against Texas Tech a week prior. The Red Raiders, led by former Oregon QB Tyler Shough, hit Oregon's secondary hard, leaving them confused in coverage multiple times to see chunk play after chunk play land. Hawaii did not look any easier on the schedule. Led by QB Brayden Schager, the Rainbow Warriors averaged over 320 yards a night through the air and had already put up impressive passing numbers against Pac-12 and Power Five-level competition. This season, the Rainbow Warriors' sweet spot has been the deep shots (passes over 20+ yards), connecting on 11 of them on the year for 357 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Schager throws deep passes 18.8 percent of the time, according to Pro Football Focus, with an average depth of target over 30 yards. On paper, it was a matchup that could have become a real issue for the Ducks secondary. Instead, it was Oregon's secondary who came away with the headlines. Schager threw for 143 yards on the night, attempting over 40 passes but only completing 27. Schager reached the one passing touchdown mark with only a few minutes to spare in the fourth quarter, as the Oregon secondary limited the Hawaii offense. Dominant Ducks Improve To 3-0 The Oregon football team extended the nation's longest nonconference home win streak and remained unbeaten through three games this season with a 55-10 win Saturday over Hawai'i before 52,779 fans in Autzen Stadium. The No. 13 Ducks entered the night with the longest nonconference home winning streak in the nation after Alabama's loss to Texas the previous week. Saturday's win was No. 32 in a row for Oregon in nonconference games in Autzen. Oregon also entered this week as the top scoring team in the FBS, averaging 59.5 points per game. Ducks Wire Player of the Game: Tez Johnson shines in win over Hawaii The first time Tez Johnson touched the ball against Hawaii, it was on a 15-yard punt return that was very close from being a touchdown. Social media reacts to Oregon's blowout win over Rainbow Warriors We knew coming into the game that it wouldn’t be much of a contest between the Oregon Ducks and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. That was confirmed when the Ducks forced a three-and-out and drove 59 yards in two plays to go up 7-0 within the first 58 seconds of the game. From there, the route was on. It served as a nice and relaxing evening in Eugene, which was much appreciated after the stressful game that came against the Texas Tech Red Raiders a week before down in Lubbock. While scoring was plentiful for the offense, it was the Ducks’ defense that really put on a show, clamping down on Hawaii’s solid passing game and making life hard on the Rainbow Warriors. In the second half, a lot of young players on the roster got a chance to see the field and get some valuable experience as well. Here are some of the best social media reactions to the day... Oregon fans were happy about that on Saturday night.
