I’ll be the optimist. We are going to smash the Beavers in the mouth this weekend, assuming Nix plays.
Both teams are well coached and have very good rush defenses. OSU probably has a slight edge in pass defense. However, Oregon has a massive advantage on offense and overall talent.
Jonathan Smith has done a great job there, but they are not there yet. In these types of games, talent usually takes over at some point.
There is a reason why OSU dropped games to Utah, USC, and UW and have not yet beat a team with a winning record in conference play.

I would never bet against this kid. I am 100% sure he is going to find a way to play this upcoming Saturday. There is zero chance he checks out unless the medical staff forces him out of the game.
He reminds me a lot of Dylan Brooks and Peyton Pritchard. Remember when everyone said those guys wouldn't make NBA rosters? Neither of them were the most talented guy on their college roster, but they both had grit and just wanted it more than everyone else. Nix is that same type of guy. He is going to make an NFL roster somewhere just because he will work harder and wants it more than everyone.

I thought Utah was eliminated, but I guess not. Oregon has to win at OSU to get in per Wilner.

Don’t think I can remember ever seeing a Duck defense as bad as this one and it is extremely puzzling with the talent we have.
That Cal game in 1993 was pretty bad
. As a student, I made the road trip for that one. Worst mistake ever!
Oregon's offense puts up almost 650 yards and still loses after leading 30-0.

Think about how passionate we are as fans about Oregon, then add in the emotion of playing or coaching at that school.
If Oregon called me for any position, I wouldn’t even have to think about it. It would have nothing to do with money. I don’t care how big of a mess the school or program was in, I would pull the trigger immediately and go for it.
Mario made a terrible decision, but how can you blame him? I would have done the exact same thing.
My guess is Dilly is gone for that reason. ASU is a mess, but there are advantages to that. The biggest being that he probably is going to get some time to build it without immediate consequences.

This is just the start. More to come.

That was an awesome article. I can't stop laughing.

Mario said he took over a 4-8 program at Oregon when being interviewed by Miami reporters this week. I assume if Herbert had not gotten injured Taggart would have won 10 games instead of 7 before Mario took over.
Yeah....I saw that too. It seems like he is stretching the truth a little with that comment. Yes, he was on staff after the 4-8 year, but not the guy in charge. Oregon was putting up 50ppg before Herbert got hurt in Taggart's offense. I am not sure they would have made it to 10 wins (maybe), but they certainly would have had more than 7.
With Herbert healthy, he didn't really raise the bar very much with the 9 win performance in 2018. Yet somehow he gets all the credit for rebuilding the program.

Nice to see some OL joining the class!

A few more stats:
1) Today was the 3rd time that Oregon has scored on 7 straight possessions in a game this year.
2) Some of Oregon’s freshman class was not born the last time UCLA won at Autzen.

BTW, when was the last time anyone started methodically kneeling the ball with 2+ minutes to go in a game?
Not sure, but I know it wasn’t Mario against Stanford in 2018.

How about that call in the UW/UA game, where the AZ QB pitches it back to the running back and the refs call an incomplete pass, blow the whistle and stop the play.
Then the let AZ challenge and burn their timeout when there is nothing to review.
hilarious.

Oregon will get the 3 points for home field, so I'm saying the opening line will be Oregon -5.5.
Nice call. That is exactly where it opened on FanDuel.

The only concern with staying in the Pac-10, as others have pointed out, is the discrepancy in revenue, which will be roughly $30M a year. When revenue sharing starts with the players, things will fall off quickly for schools not in the BIG or SEC and the gap will continue to widen.
What good is it making the BCS/playoff, if you just get run off the field every time like Notre Dame?
I want Oregon to stay in the Pac-10, but the conference has to come up with a creative plan to close that revenue gap, or the entire conference is toast IMO.

Notre Dame is the biggest fraud team ever. They are 0-8 in BCS/New Year's Six games. The program's last major bowl win was in 1994, when they beat Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.

This is in direct conflict to the comments that Rick Neuheisel made on ESPN radio yesterday, indicating that his sources have told him that Oregon and Washington to the BIG is a done deal.
Someone is wrong. There is so much conflicting information, it is hard to know what to believe.

I read somewhere a while back that the Pac-10 conference was going to allow USC and UCLA to remain in conference in several west coast sports. There was a group of 4 or 5 sports and one was beach volleyball (I don't remember the others). When I read that, I was completely shocked and I hope it is not true.

IMHO We lost last year due to critical and devastating injuries especially on defense.
We had to play multiple walk-ons and freshman. Our LB, WR, RB, TE, S lost some of their best players for the season. Our OL never started the same line up the whole season.
The stress of seeing this occur took away a promising season for the players and coaches starting from the Stanford game on.
When the fans booed in the Cal game it was basically over. After watching TT this year do you feel the same about the coaching staff not putting him in the game. I do not.
You can't and won't beat the best teams in situations like that no matter who the coaches are.
Interestingly enough, Miami is having those same injury issues right now. I wonder if the strength and conditioning / practice routine under the previous staff had an impact on the number of injuries or if it is just a coincidence.
-
Whoa! Did he really say that on ESPN? Can anyone confirm?
-
I just have a gut feeling that Richardson is going to have an Aaron Brooks type of senior year. He is due to put everything together and just dominate.
-
Just how good is the offense right now? The most telling stat to me is that the Ducks have scored TDs on 7 straight possessions in 2 games already this season. That is just flat out insane.
I wonder when was the last time that happened prior to this year? Not sure how to look that up, but I am guessing that it is a pretty rare occurrence. My gut says that Chip's teams probably did it a few times.

Awesome. Thanks for the link. I am so ready for hoops!!
