  1. I know it’s been beaten into the ground, but I had to reiterate the feeling. Not only do they look so much better than last season, they are absolutely a different team than in week 1. I’m growing a bit tired of hearing “but they weren’t playing GA”. Because they were playing a team that was really good last season and returned 18 starters. And the Ducks dominated them. Nothing against BYU, but they were never in this game. The score could have been much worse. Every aspect of the Ducks game improved dramatically. On defense, personally I was impressed with guys being where they should be, reacting quickly, and mostly just tackling very well. UGA offense killed the Ducks on the perimeter and the Ducks played much better in that area. On offense, so much looked great. Even while missing Cardwell, there seemed to be no stopping them. I was particularly impressed with Irving and true freshman James at RB. Nix played confident and was in control. I honestly think he helped the confidence of the players around him. I’m a huge Dawgs fan and I can honestly tell you that if they played again Saturday I believe the game would look much different. I’m not saying the Ducks would win, GA looks a bit ridiculous so far, but it would be a much different game. And if the Ducks keep improving at this rate, who knows what they will look like in late Nov. and beyond. Could be an interesting rematch brewing towards the end of the year. What impressed you guys the most? As said above, for me it was the defense reacting much quicker and tackling much better.
  2. The USC ranking does seem off considering who they have played. But they started out at 14 and haven’t lost while many ranked above them initially have. Hence it’s highly likely that they are over ranked, although I will admit they are headed in the right direction. They have a very good offense, but I think their defense will hold them back this season. I’m looking forward to seeing them travel to Utah also. They will get exposed at some point this season.
  3. If I were a Miami fan I would be livid about the play calling and in game coaching. Just absolutely ridiculous. They had way more total yards, almost twice as many first downs, and their defense actually played pretty good. They should have won this game. I now understand what you guys have been saying about Mario. And yes, the QB’s talent was wasted. Just a mind blowing display. I’ve no words to describe the play calling in the red zone!
  4. Everything looked very good. Dominated the line, RBs looked great, Nix was in command, and I think my favorite part was that the defense tackled very good.
  5. Wow. Boys are showing out!!!
  6. They have been, and the backs are running really tough.
  7. Jordan James, I sure was looking forward to him being a Dawg. He looks good so far!
  8. I was nervous, but I love it! Love the aggressiveness
  9. Absolutely
  10. Yeah, USCjr was really hurting on defense, but we played pretty good. I wanted the shutout, but it’s more important to get others reps and avoid injuries when you can.
  11. Sounds like it’s pretty loud in Autzen. Sounds nice!
  12. Ducks 34-31 2 TO 1 sack 326 yards passing
  13. Wow, you Ducks are awesome. I wish UGA and UO would schedule a home and home. If it ever happens I really hope I can make the trip to Eugene. And if not, when I get less busy (retired). I’m coming anyway just to watch the Ducks and maybe rent a comfortable spacious ride for myself and family to see some sites and enjoy a slow ride back east. My dad always wanted to do that but sadly it never worked out. Cats in the cradle and such. Hopefully I can make it happen with my daughter someday.
  14. The coach speak answer is “we will play the guy that gives us the best chance to win.” I think there is very little chance Ty replaces Bo this season. Of course, about this time last season I said the same about Bennet and Daniels.
  15. Yeah, Herbert is SIC!!!
  16. I love your post! As mentioned before I missed watching BYU over the weekend so I appreciate the insight. I agree, I think the Ducks offense will roll. Just looking at the first half against us, they moved the ball consistently if not with ease at times. If not for a dropped pass on the first drive or the two picks later, the score at halftime might have looked much different. And that first pick was not a bad pass IMO, it was an unlikely great play by a freshman. Don’t get me wrong, Starks is awesome, but if I’m Nix I’m certainly testing him. What are your thoughts on the defense? It’s tough to change scheme, especially to such a difficult scheme. It’s not surprising they struggled the first game. Things move so fast and to say playing defense is difficult is a vast understatement. I honestly think with the coaching and talent available, the Ducks defense will soon be a strength. What do you think? Go Ducks!!!
  17. I’ve very much enjoyed being part of this forum. You guys are a class act and I’m proud to be welcomed to take part! Come 3:30 eastern time Saturday, I’ll be Quacking. Go Ducks!!!
  18. I agree, and I too appreciate this forum. I just attempted to make a post explaining that I wasn’t able to watch the Ducks or the BYU vs Baylor game this past weekend for unexpected reasons and am depending on this forum for insight into the upcoming game. Unfortunately my post didn’t make it, not sure what happened but it’s likely fat finger syndrome I guess. I can at times be clumsy, it’s possible I hit delete.
  19. I would absolutely rather be in Lanning’s place. Yes it always stinks to get beat 49-3 but there are at least somewhat some viable extenuating circumstances. First game as HC, all new coaches across the board, playing the defending National Champions all comes to mind. Also, I was rather impressed with the Ducks offense, and the defense will surprise many this season IMO. Then we come to Fisher. He is one of the highest paid coaches in the country, he just signed the highest rated recruiting class in the history of college football, and his Aggies began the year once again #6 in the AP poll. And then lost to App State. Not a good look at the moment. It’s very important that they play well against Miami for optics if nothing else. I’m certainly not insinuating that Jimbo is in any trouble, but it doesn’t look good and he will be expected to right the ship quickly. It’s also not lost on me that App State and GA Southern are historically good football schools. But if your #6 you shouldn’t lose to App St. And if you’re Nebraska today, obviously you can’t lose to GA Southern.
  20. Thank you both for responding. Odd but not surprising that Direct Tv doesn’t offer. You know what, I’ve a very comfortable porch. Might be the perfect time to sit back with a little drink and a little smoke and enjoy the radio!
  21. As to my knowledge the game is on the Pac-12 network. I can’t find the Pac-12 network anywhere on direct tv. Am I missing it somehow. I’d really like to watch this game so any help you guys have would be much appreciated. Is there a way to stream?
  22. I gotta say, I’m not too worried about the Ducks offense. They are going to be fine. Actually, I think much better than fine. Just looking at the first half, the score is a bit misleading as far as Oregon’s offense is concerned. Let’s just presumably say that they were up against one of the best defenses in the nation. I’ll say that bc I’m a big GA fan and honestly that’s what I want to believe. Also, the GA defensive talent is ridiculous. On point though, Oregon’s offense was not dominated by this defense. They moved the ball very well every drive in the first half. They didn’t get in unmanageable downs, they were consistently effective. A few key mistakes here and there or a very good play by the defense is really all that stopped them in the first half. Yes, Bo made one terrible pass that was picked. But his first pick was a good pass, it was just a very unexpected and unfortunate play made by the freshman Starks. I mean he is a true freshman, of coarse Bo should test him. It was a good pass. I’m not saying Oregon could have won this game. I am saying that if a few plays here or there had gone their way, the score could have looked much different at halftime. I can’t speak to the second half so much. I stopped paying attention closely after the first drive of the 3rd quarter. I have it recorded and will peruse it at some point. The Ducks offense was competitive with GA’s defense. Many will say different, but if you just look at the first half, when GA was primarily playing their starters, if you understand football even a little then you know Oregon’s offense has loads of potential.
  23. Good Article. I agree, this was a very tough ask so early for the Ducks D. Yes the UGA D looked very good, but those guys been practicing this defense since day 1 in college, and learning it from veteran players that were all high draft picks. Also, the Ducks D had to deal with an offense that probably knew their scheme better than they did, or were at least much more comfortable with it. They have been practicing against it since Day 1 also. Very tough ask. Also, as one pointed out before, GA wasn’t miraculously good in Kirby’s first year. 7-5 I think with a Vanderbilt loss. And GA had tons of talent that year, it just took time for all to adjust. The next season went much better.
  24. In Lanning’s press conference he said something to the effect that most of these players would go hit the practice field right now if it was an option. I tend to believe him or take him at face value. The Oregon players are highly talented D-1 players and the coaches are highly touted coaches. They didn’t make it where they are by feeling sorry for themselves or giving up when they take a beating. We all have our supposed reasons for what happened but for whatever reason, this team did get embarrassed Saturday. IMO there is zero chance they take it lying down. If anything, they will be better for it. Sure there were many negatives in this game but there were positives as well. I will not go into them as you all have already covered them. I truly believe the Ducks are much better than this score reflected. How much better, we will see? But I’m still very excited about them. Go Ducks!!!
