  1. https://collegefootballnews.com/cfn/oregon-and-washington-to-the-big-ten-will-be-amazing-eventually With ASU, Arizona and Utah all going to the Big 12, I would say this is the swan song for the PAC. Hopefully you guys can keep the Civil War Game alive. Along with Washington and the Apple Cup. Utah gets their Holy War game back.
  2. Sad day for college football, inevitable though. You can trace this back to Texas destroying the old Big 8. You can say this began in 2005 when Miami and Virginia Tech left the Big East for ACC. You could say it began in 2011 with the B1G taking Nebraska, PAC 12 taking Colorado and Utah, the SEC taking Missouri and Texas A&M, while Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Louisville and Boston College went to the ACC. West Virginia and TCU joined the Big 12, essentially stripping the Big East of it P6 status. Ten years later Oklahoma and Texas left the Big 12. A year later USC and UCLA did the same to the PAC. The Big 12 adapted to survive, the PAC unfortunately didn't. I think it's safe to say that the ACC needs to be proactive to stay afloat. That G.O.R isn't the shield they believe it to be. Florida State is openly crying about it, although nobody forced them to sign it. What happens if Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia decide they wanna cry too? I wanna congratulate Oregon in getting an invite that will ensure you will continue to grow it's brand. To many like USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma and Notre Dame , you are new money. They don't see you on their level historically. They will say you have zero titles. As a Florida fan, we went through the same thing when Spurrier arrived. Luckily when I became a fan in the later 90's we had already gotten one. It took another two to get past that new money phase and some will still mock us for Gatorade making us. But I don't see Oregon failing to adapt like Nebraska has. It's a sad day if/when the PAC implodes, but college football will adapt. You guys aren't going in alone and it looks like you'll get to keep making your southern neighbors have a little heartburn. Ain't that a Quack in the butt?
  3. Can't wait till actual football games begin. It's really tiresome to hear about politics in sports. Isn't sports supposed to be a distraction, something fun? Secret board meetings, media deals, conference loyalties vs royalties. Sounds like some soap opera to me.
  4. Would Oregon and Washington leap at the offer? I've heard different things that the schools are a package deal in state provincial terms. I think it's hogwash as Oklahoma supposedly was tied to Oklahoma State but they left them behind. Same thing goes for Arizona and Arizona State. I just don't see that being a roadblock. To me it's likely every dog for themselves, I don't know State rules in Oregon though. In the next couple years I see the B1G and SEC turning into superconferences. Sad in a way, I really liked that special feeling of the rare matchups between teams from different regions facing off in rare meetings. Soon it's gonna be like the NFL. AFC and NFC, or B1G and SEC.
  5. I know I'm not a Ducks fan, I probably count as that odd number. I'm not here to speak negatively though. Last year I said you guys will be members of the B1G when they next expand. Nothing I've seen seems to change that fact. USC and UCLA are gonna need some teams in their region to play every year as conference slates will shrink the number of o.o.c games. I don't see a fit better than Oregon and Washington. Sooner or later the SEC and B1G are just gonna dwarf any other league. There aren't many whales left outside of those conferences. Notre Dame, Clemson, FSU and Miami in football. North Carolina and Kansas in basketball is about it imo. Give it a year or two. Oregon is gonna get called to join their west coast brothers. Maybe then Ohio State will have to honor that home and home with you guys. I know Michigan isn't looking to play you guys again after that 2007 thrashing.
  6. Utah didn't choke that game away. I'm a little tired of the narrative of the number beside the name without playing a single snap somehow being a barometer for this year. Last year Florida was garbage, we had a number beside the name though. Excuse my diatribe here, but I've heard about this "choke" for three days now. Ohio State didn't choke against you last year. Utah didn't choke this year. Look at every metric, Rising was most effective in plays like the game ender. He thought he had an opening, then he was about to get tackled and he made a bad decision. Had the defender not made the play, Utah would have had time for two more tries without having to call a timeout to stop the clock. It was a great opening game. I have a lot of respect for Utah coming into the Swamp. Their fans turned out, I really hope to return the honor in Utah. The humidity may have been against them, but the elevation may be against us.
  7. Logging out for now. I predict Oregon State will win 38 to 20. Washington is rolling right now. Perhaps the Pac 12 will close out strong. It's only week one guys. In a month things will look different.
  8. Great effort by the Beaver receiver there. Seems like he gave up on the route. Boise State gets the ball in the Beavers territory.
  9. Oregon State is up 17 to nothing. Boise State has like 40 yards of offense thus far.
  10. Come on Charles. I know today sucked. I've had a lot of those days the last decade. We lost to Georgia Southern at home under the sharkman Jim McElwain. I don't recommend you Google that btw. There was a report of Washington talking to the B1G this past week. If all it took was a thrashing on opening day to devalue a program, Florida would be in the Sun Belt after this past decade. Seriously we had a stretch where we lost by 40 points to Michigan in the bowl, then lost by 40 to them on opening day. Plus having the sharkman, Darth Mullen, and the raging Muschamp on the sidelines.
  11. The Beavers are controlling the lines this far. When was the last time Oregon State had a decent squad? 2008?
  12. I don't know much about the civil war, but I think you guys probably view the Beavers like I view the Seminoles. Except they are in your conference. Florida State has turned down the SEC a few times. They call us soft. Anyhow the Beavers are up 14 to nothing on the Broncos. May this be a future conference rivalry? Are you guys gonna miss being conference mates with the Beavers if you move?
  13. Hey Duck fans, I know today didn't go how you wanted. You must remember that it was essentially a road game against the defending champions. They lost a ton of talent, but they also returned some key pieces. Meanwhile you guys had a cross country flight. You were breaking in a new QB against that defense. It was also the first game under Lanning. Your defensive recruiting needs to line up with his system. I've enjoyed getting to understand a little bit of the online hospitality that I don't see many places. I've been roasted for making topics like this on opposing teams sites after a loss. That ranges from Kentucky, Tennessee, LSU, and yes Georgia when Florida has been good enough to beat them. I was happy to see my favorite team beat a very physical Utah team. That was at home though, and although it was Napier's first game, we had Richardson at QB. I hope to continue getting to know more about Duck culture as the season goes on. Hopefully there will be a game between our squads down the line. I would love to come up there and experience a home game.

  14. Well crap. I want to say that as the season unwinds Oregon will look better and Georgia won't look as good. I was hoping for a repeat of last year for you guys in Columbus. It's gonna get better.
  15. Remember when Saban did the inside kick in the title game against Clemson in 2016? It worked, but had it not I think Saban gets the benefit of the doubt. I think we try to pinpoint one decision as the turning point. Facts are that a football game is won with discipline. Fewer penalties, turnovers, blown coverages, pass protection breakdowns.
  16. I would say have it in Vegas. You won't have either L.A school in your conference. I think the B2G will ultimately hold some of their title games in L.A. It's now their second biggest market. Heck you might see the Rose Bowl become the B2G title game of the league grows too large. The Pac 10 may ultimately survive, but it won't be a league Oregon will want to be a part of. Neither will the ACC or Big 12 in a decade.
  17. Thank you for the Ohio State side. I saw the article and found it interesting that Ohio State would try to push their weight around when the wheels are already set in motion. The SEC isn't done adding people either. If there was an article coming out saying Florida was trying to stop expansion I wouldn't believe it. First of all no program is bigger then the conference. Secondly it's no longer regional. Hasn't been for over a decade now. The ACC is on the board next. Clemson, FSU are gonna be the next two targets.
  18. As a new poster I read the rules and appreciate the environment here. I may be a Gator fan but I enjoy all college football. This weekend I get some great games. Also I was one of those who may have added to the salt and I do apologize for that publicly. You have a great site here Charles. Thank you to all the Duck fans who have welcomed me here. Civility is alive after all.
  19. I hope not. Ohio State has never acted out like this before to my knowledge. Now Texas and Notre Dame, that's a different story. Texas has joined a league they can't do that with. Notre Dame is the last program on that pedastal right now.
  20. The playoffs are going to expand once there is two super leagues. The SEC was pushing for it last year which ironically might have kept USC in the Pac 12 had it happened. I believe USC saw the Pac 12 getting shut out of the playoffs as a big negative to it's continued involvement. There is an east coast bias as well. Now USC is in bed with the very conference who halted those expansion talks, they acted like they were in lockstep with the Pac and ACC. One other funny reason is Ohio State got quacked out by Oregon at home. Had they beaten you they might have let you in back in June. The Bucks fear the Quack attack. Just kidding. I feel like I did back in June/July, the Ducks will be in the B1G. It doesn't make sense to have only two west coast team a thousand plus miles away from the nearest team in Nebraska. Who else in the west makes sense above Oregon? Academics, fan base, football success, and you bring Nike. Phil Knight wants you in the B1G. We all know college football is not even hiding it's a business anymore. Oregon will be the next domino to fall. Utah may want to come along, but that's a long shot imo. Colorado, Utah, and the Arizona schools should take the Big 12 offer if it's there. Oregon, Washington, California and Stanford will be going to the B2G. Oregon State and Washington State will go somewhere.
  21. https://www.outkick.com/ohio-state-against-more-expansion-big-ten-report/ Big Ten Expansion Has A Major Problem Involving Ohio State WWW.OUTKICK.COM Ohio State is reportedly the largest roadblock the Big Ten is facing for further expansion. Are the Buckeyes against more expansion? Interesting read. I haven't been able to find anything else on this, but according to the above article it seems like a very powerful member of the B1G is against further expansion. It cites travel as one reason, but that makes little sense since USC and UCLA are already coming. I think the B1G will listen to them, but in time Ohio State will learn no one program is above the good of the conference.
  22. I wasn't aware how highly ranked Utah was to start the year. All I know is it will be a good litmus test for Napier. You guys have an even tougher one with Lanning going up against the defending champions. Here's to a Gator, and Duck victory this Saturday.
  23. Well you guys went into Columbus and won. I think that Ohio State team didn't have the physicality aspect to them. Michigan beat them essentially the same way. I think Lanning will bring in some secrets, but that could also work the other way. Hoping for a good game. I'm anxious to see our game against Utah, Alabama vs Texas, and Ohio State vs Notre Dame this opening weekend.
  24. You think there may have been tampering in season, or it was just an informal verbal agreement that the job was his at the end of the year? That's twice now that a coach has up , and left you guys. I wouldn't trust a coach with ties to Miami, or Florida State in the future.
