  1. I know this has been talked about, but thought it is good to hear from Rob Mullens on the subject. This is another subject Rob talks about. The University of Oregon’s athletic director pushed back on the perception that the Ducks have made significant strides in football recruiting simply because of Nike cofounder Phil Knight keeping the name, image and likeness coffers full. “It’s a lot more than NIL,” Rob Mullens told The Oregonian/OregonLive. Mullens’ counterpart at Nebraska, former Washington AD Troy Dannen, reportedly told boosters this spring that Oregon and Ohio State each had a staggering $23 million available in NIL. And Georgia coach Kirby Smart joked about Knight at SEC media days last week, saying, “I wish I could get some of that NIL money that he’s sharing with Dan Lanning.” When those comments were read back to Mullens, the AD grimaced at the suggestion that the Ducks were, in simple terms, buying players. Two NIL collectives support Oregon athletics: Ducks Rising, which is a collective in a more traditional sense, and Division Street, which is largely funded by Knight and other ultra-wealthy Oregon boosters. “We’re fortunate that we have an incredibly supportive base that’s helping us compete in NIL,” Mullens said. “But there’s a lot more to it, it’s leadership, it’s culture, it’s strategy, it’s work ethic. A lot goes into that.” Phil Knight may foot the bill, but Oregon AD says Ducks’ recruiting success is ‘a lot more than NIL’ WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM As part of a wide-ranging interview, Rob Mullens says the Ducks' recruiting wins have had more to do with coach Dan Lanning than the Nike cofounder's contributions.
  2. Everything to know about Oregon Ducks running backs going into 2024 college football season Now, we want to recenter things a bit and shift our sole focus to the Ducks, diving into each Oregon position group before the start of the season, and examining where the Ducks’ strengths and weaknesses lie. On Monday, we began with a look at the Ducks’ quarterback room, which is full of talent and potential, and now, we’re diving into the Ducks’ running backs. During Dan Lanning’s tenure as Oregon’s head coach, the Ducks have boasted a strong rushing attack, but both of those rooms were led by Bucky Irving. Now, Irving is preparing for his rookie season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as we wait patiently to see whether or not Jordan James is a worthy successor to Irving. Spoiler Alert: He is. 21. (This post was brought in by Jon Joseph): How about: Much-needed changes to the CFB PO are coming; but not before 2026-27. I am hoping that an SEC power is the first out. Knocked out by G5 Memphis, Notre Dame, and at least one lower-ranked from the Back Seat 2, the ACC and B12. The B1G response to 'this' is likely to be civil. The response from the 'It Just Means More' crowd? Not so much. I'd love to see one of the major players recommending this format, Greg Sankey, hoist on his own petard. Changes to the College Football Playoff are incoming SOUTHBOUNDANDDOWN.COM Mapping out future possibilities of the College Football Playoff which could have changes upcoming. This article hits the highlights. Legal issues might force the inclusion of the ACC and B12 champ but as seeded and not in the top 4 unless ranked in the top 4. The G5? Share some of the PO money with the G5 but do not knock out a better team for a G5 team. Oregon's beat down of Liberty last season 😍 is used as an example of why there should be no G5. A G5 team as the No. 12 seed makes the 5th seed significantly better than the 6th seed as the 5th seed will have a home game vs a 'little leauge' team while the 6th seed will play a successful P4 team. The 5th and 6th seeds are likely to have the same record. The team in the conference receiving the 6th seed will not be happy and will demand the Committee's reasoning in making the selection and not just a 'Trust Us.'
