  4. Oregon is surging up the recruiting rankings after landing 2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy cornerback Ify Obidegwu on Sunday. Recruiting never stops, which means Duck fans are already asking what's next for Dan Lanning and company on the trail. I'm here to give you my latest intel on what's ahead, both in the high school ranks and in the transfer portal. https://www.heraldonline.com/sports/college/article275171371.html#storylink=rss

  6. Ducks want to get back to being... the Ducks Be sure, the son of LeBron James would have added electricity to Matthew Knight Arena next season. Nike would have been thrilled, too. But in the end, potentially adding Bronny, his body guards, a documentary film crew, and an entourage felt like an uneasy proposition for a program that badly needs to focus. In our candid conversation in March, Altman talked wistfully about former Oregon players such as Payton Pritchard, Chris Duarte, Dillon Brooks, Jordan Bell and Dylan Ennis. “Those guys weren’t as highly ranked as some others,” Altman told me, “but those guys were in the gym all the time.” Oregon’s 2023 class includes Kwame Evans and Portland-born Mookie Cook, two McDonald’s All-Americans. It also features guard Jackson Shelstad, who grew up in West Linn, emulating Pritchard’s workout routine and sitting courtside at his high school games. Shelstad is listed as a four-star or five-star recruit, depending on who does the counting. I don’t think the kid cares, either way. Like Pritchard, he’s in the gym at 6 a.m. and will return your call when he can. ___ Canzano: Bronny James picks USC while Oregon goes in search of its future WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Ducks want to get back to being... the Ducks

  9. Losing three of four games last week dropped the Oregon Ducks baseball team out of the USA TODAY Coaches poll. The Ducks were ranked 19th in the country, but a loss at Oregon State and two defeats at USC were enough to cost Oregon their top-25 ranking. Coach Mark Wasikowski’s team still holds fourth place in the Pac-12 with a 14-10 conference mark and 31-16 overall. But the two losses to the Trojans might have severely hurt the Ducks’ chances at possibly hosting an NCAA regional. They have an RPI of 26, which fell four spots from No. 22. The top 16 teams host regionals. 13. After Oregon's ace starter, Jace Stoffal, did not pitch on Friday night, the Ducks turned to freshman Leo Uelmen. It's still unclear as to why Stoffal didn't pitch on Friday night. Uelmen struggled in his start, allowing six runs in 2.1 innings pitched, allowing six hits, and only two strikeouts. From there, USC's starter, Blake Sodersten, dominated the Ducks, holding them to one run over seven innings, coupled with 11 strikeouts. Oregon's two runs were the lowest run production since winning 5-4 against Cal. The Ducks' loss was their third straight after dropping the final game against No. 20 Arizona State and losing to No. 15 Oregon State in a midweek matchup on Tuesday. Oregon will likely send RHP Logan Mercado to the mound on Saturday, who's looking to improve on his previous performance against the Sun Devils. Mercado allowed four runs to the prolific Sun Devil offense, striking out a career-high eight batters. Oregon needs a competitive outing from its starter, as the previous three starters have allowed 12 earned runs in 8.1 innings pitched. 14. Glimmers of Justius Lowe: UO color analyst likes what he sees from freshman WR When talking on the Sco-ing Long Podcast to Mike Jorgenson, the long-time Oregon radio color analyst alongside Voice of the Ducks Jerry Allen, I asked about who stood out to him at the spring game, and what he thought of the receivers on offense. For the most part, he was impressed with what he saw. “I think when you take Hutson, and Franklin, and Holden and put them in there as a group, or you put in Tez Johnson and mix him in…frankly I’ve seen some glimmers of Justius Lowe,” Jorgenson said. “I think he’s going to be a guy…watch out for him.” Oregon Football: WR Justius Lowe has shown flashes in Ducks’ practice DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM “I’ve seen some little glimpses of things from him in practices throughout the spring where you go ‘Wow, that guy can play.'”
  15. Agree or disagree with the trap games? For Oregon: OREGON: @ ARIZONA STATE Oregon and Washington fans don't agree on many things, but both probably share an uneasiness when watching their teams play in the desert. Tempe hasn't been kind to the Ducks over the years and there are still nightmares among Oregon fans about the Jayden Daniels-led upset that crashed the Ducks' playoff hopes a couple years ago. Breakdown: Oregon has seven home games. The most notable of which comes against USC on Nov. 11, which has potential to hold massive stakes. The Ducks have a few of the conference's most challenging road games, taking trips to Texas Tech, Washington, Utah and Arizona State where they meet former offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham. 19. Oregon extends offer to former Colorado Buffaloes tight end It may have seemed like the Oregon Ducks might be out of the tight-end transfer portal market after picking up former Ole Miss TE Casey Kelly a week or so ago, but that’s apparently not the case.
